Cleveland won again. Division is starting to look like a pipe dream. One team is well-managed (by a rookie no less) and the other continues to shoot itself in the foot.
Over the course of 162, you're going to drop games and series that you 'should' win. The Twins' problems this season come down to the same issues - bullpen usage and the hitting (or lack thereof).
The bullpen is left holding the bag, but when you string together 5 hits through 7 innings and make Armstrong look like he's he a HOF reliever, this is what you get.
I guess they want to keep Varland stretched out in case of an injury to the rotation, but I'd be curious to see if he can do any better (or worse) than Sands...
Haven't been enamored with the home plate umps this series. Before Rorvedt's single off Sands last night, there was a pitch that very much looked like strike 3 - and one that had been called as such throughout the game.
