Morny was indirectly suggesting that the guys are loose because there may be more certainty about their playing time and less threat about getting pitch hit for. That’s what I understood him to be hinting at.
He’s not amazing with the glove over there but I’m fine with Clemens at 1B. He’s a solid bat and plays pretty loose. I don’t think Julien has a spot on next years roster but I get the theory of why he’s in the lineup at this point.
Still waiting for Austin to have a role. He’s obviously not a plus outfielder. Last year and this year a lot of balls seem to turn into adventures. Bad reads, bad routes, bad lunges, average or below average arm.
There isn’t any plausible explanation for how the Twins arrived at the conclusion that this guy could play Major League Baseball. It was such an egregiously bad signing for a long time I assumed there was something else going on, like sabotage with bogus scouting report. I ultimately don’t blame him, and I think he was gracious in acknowledging the mistake.
For you old timers out there. Was Todd Walker as bad at 2B as I want to remember? Or was it just that he didn’t hit as well as advertised and had a rep for a bad attitude?

There’s no logic to it that I can discern. Fans would be more likely to pay to see guys in our system get a chance. Ain’t nobody I know getting fired up to pay to watch these retread guys. And I don’t buy that it’s about “veteran leadership “ or any such nonsense.
Yuck. We won’t see any meaningful return on this trade for 3 years, and at that time this catching prospect will need to be a better than league average starter for this FO to be redeemed. I’m not optimistic. They’ll be gone regardless.
