  1. For all we know Minneapolis based Varde Partners, the worldwide multi billion dollar credit investment corporation is who holds the notes on the debt and simply forclosed on the debt without any other avenues to collect. Same as the salary saved by trading the big three will be reinvested into the club instead of going into the Polhads pocket or for their newest Ferrari.
  2. I can attest if you take the grandkids and go to the Twins store for a souvenir not counting parking but with lower level behind the infield seats $200 is close to my amount spent per ticket.
  3. No matter what they are saying now the Twins showed their hand when they traded 40% of the roster at the trade deadline. This is not a 'soft' rebuild. They tried the 'only if we're blown away' for a trade will they part with a player to now trying the 'we're not really going to trade every asset' in hopes of leveraging more return for the big three. As for free agents, history has shown they only shop for players who's asking price has dropped and are now considered long shots to be above replacement value players. As Terry Ryan said many times, somebody has to play those innings.
  4. Trading Buxton would be another gut punch. A disappointing finish to Buxtons Twins career after waiting for so many years for him to finally have a season where he puts it all together and plays more than 100 games. He is a difference maker when he is on the field. And we are back at square 'hope the prospects work out' one. Buxton, Sano, Berrios and Meyer were going to bring a title to the Twins oh so many years of hope ago. I should take up golf.
  5. A free trial on a make or break contract: IF 1. he is in shape 2. he has worked on his defense 3. if he can catch up to major league fastballs. 4. is he now coachable? 5. are the sexual allegations true or not? 6. attitude is everything.
  6. If the choice is sign the worst hitting free agent shortstop available or play Fitzgerald that's an easy choice to me. Fitzgerald it is. I don't think a team on the verge of contention is for a minute contemplating signing the worst hitting shortstop unless his name is Ozzy Smith.
  7. Larnach being tendered is a surprise to me but.......if they go to arbitration and the Twins lose they do not have to sign him so he could still be released if not traded.
  8. The July trade deadline moves combined with the Correa conversation is the truth about the front offices plans. No matter what they say, it's a rebuild.
  9. with any luck Baldelli will be his bench coach this go around!! Bad luck but still luck.
  10. I'd like to see Rowson and Punto on the staff, bench coach or assistant manager, but not manager. The way things have been the last two years isn't working. A new manager should include a new staff.
  11. Any one of the three pitchers plus a couple of lower level high upside minor leaguers is about all they could get for Ryan. I think Falvey will trade Ryan for the left handed batting outfielder.
  12. Mikulski. He posted a 10.13 ERA in six games with the Kernels and had 13 walks, two hit batters and seven strikeouts in his 5 1/3 innings in Cedar Rapids 15 base runners in 5 1/3 innings and they cut him??? Just when we think we can't pick up worse players than Outman and Gasper Falvey says "hold my beer".
  13. easy peasy, he needs to stay a Twin. He floundered a little after the trade deadline but who didn't after being blindsided like that?
  14. 28 base runners in a hair over 14 innings. The opposing batters sure like him. Maybe they can sign and trade him and Micky Gasper for Jovani Moran.
  15. Correa and Buxton said all the right things to the media for fan support. If they had said "I want outta here asap" fans would have turned on them. Remind me who is Correas agent? Buxton can be traded, on his terms. Atlanta for sure, but perhaps to Philly or New York if a new contract is involved. Honestly I'd rather hear there is going to be short term pain than "we are going to win next year with Micky Gasper as our primary catcher" and starting 3 left handed hitting outfielders who all underperformed this year. Anyone else think Joe is going to go into politics?
  16. "I expect them to be back" = "unless I'm told to trade them".
  17. Joe Ryan gives his off season trips to Driveline a lot of the credit for helping his pitching career. New head coach should get to pick his staff, not Falvey. If the rumors of a sour culture are true it starts at the top, with Falvey and his smug attitude.
  18. 553 plate appearances, or some number close to that. I would hope the number was unattainable, especially if the narrative is "we play to win every game".
  19. I saw Keith Urban Friday Night in St Paul so I have to say Blue is not my favorite color
  20. Thanks for the laughs everybody. Cheifs corny jokes reminded me not to take healthy days for granted as dementia is looming around the corner. This has been as disappointing a season as I can remember. The trade sell off was a bit much too much to believe but we will find out if it bears fruit or not. Here's to a better season of Twins baseball next year. By better I mean better fundamentals, hustle and defense. edit; hitting also
  21. Hats off to them, they earned it.
  22. Peter, I for one have misssed your positivity. The Twins need too many things to go right to contend next year but I'd be happy with crisp, well played games from now on. (I asked for this in jUly also.........)
  23. Can I substitute the Hamms Bear instead of TC? If so I like the bear with a 24 pack of ice cold beverages.
