  1. Too bad we don't have poisonous snakes and alligators to get the full off course experience.
  2. Jake Odorizzi is out for the season after shoulder surgery. The Rangers traded a prospect for him in November and he will not throw a pitch for them in 2023 and will become a free agent at the end of this season.
  3. We do not know the status of Buxtons knee. Last year when Baldelli said 'day off' for Buxton it was when the knee had to be drained. He does not look back to normal when running. I think there is a lingering injury issue with Buxton and for some reason the Twins have copied the NFL's vague injury status updates. Remember 'Bi-lateral leg weakness' that took someone out for almost a whole year?
  4. Nuke, call me nuke. I'm am impressed with Gallo's defense at first base. Much improved over Sano's defense. He is growing on me. As Harmon Killebrew once said "what's better? A strike out or a weak hit ball to second base?"
  5. Did anyone else watch Buxton's running on the triple he hit today? He got there easily but his running was not like in previous years. He also was laboring with his breathing so I think his conditioning is behind 'opening day ' levels leading me to believe his knee or hip is still an issue. Taylor may be playing at more than replacement level all year.
  6. I bet the over in Las Vegas last month with the line at 78 1/2. I also bet them to win the central at plus 290, so almost 3 to 1. Buxton at 33 to 1 to win the league MVP. Moral of my post is to shop around if you're going to place a bet. I would take to over on Lopez, Ryan and Buxton. Pass on Correa to answer the question.
  7. I know this site does not talk about betting but I got 33 to 1 odds on Buxton winning the MVP in Las Vegas last month. He has the talent, Correa hitting next to him and competing with him at the team level, and the motivation to do it. Besides, the Minnesota sports teams are due........
  8. The rich continue to be the puppetmasters and the rest of us are on strings. Disgusting if it's true. Oh wait, goldilocks was for the Yankees so that makes it okay.
  9. He wants to go to a perennial world series contender. I think that excludes the Twins. A guy can dream though. A tad bit of flawed logic. If Ohtani pitches on Sunday and throws 100 pitches there is no way he plays the outfield for at least 3 days. So his salary should be a combined pitcher and DH.
  10. In an interview last year Theilbar stated that in his first go-round with the Twins he was pitching with an injury which limited what he could do. Now the injury is healed so he can pitch however he wants to. How old was Jim Kaat when he retired?
  11. I believe last years 'rest days' were days when his knee was too sore and swollen for him to run. I have Buxton pegged for 155 games, 48 homers, 135 RBI's, 30 stolen bases and the league MVP.
  12. Carlos said all the right things, did all the right things but in the end he did what's best for him and I can't blame him. Remember, he only came to Minnesota because he sees the ball well in Target Field. It was the springboard he needed for a better batting average and the big contract. I don't blame the Twins one bit for not matching $350 million. I wish him well.
  13. Does anyone actually think Falvey or Terry Ryan would come out and say "the Polads have me on a tight money leash so we have to bargin shop for player help"? We will never know how profitable the Twins are or aren't and it is easy to spend someone elses money. When Falvey first was hired I thought he did little free agent spending because of Mauers overweight contract. I understand not wanting an overweight contract but if that's todays market and they are not going to participate in it they need to stop trading prospects for pitchers like Gray and Lopez.
  14. When I see a bird that walks like a duck, looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, I call that bird a duck. I just don't see the Twins buying that Dior belt. I don't see Correa giving the Twins a break on money either, his Dior belt insinuated that. The Polad family didn't get where they are by not getting a return on their money. I hope I'm wrong, I like Correa as a player but 300 million is a lot to fork out. Attendance was not overwhelming last summer when they were in first place for most of the summer.
  15. I don't think the Twins have a chance in Haties of signing Correa. I think he will sign with an almost guaranteed winning organization and the Twins brass are trying to not have the fan base turn sour on them. I hate being negative but this is the reality I see playing out.
  16. Does anyone know for sure if #3 is even an option? I have not read C-4's contract but it would not surprise me if Boras insisted on a no trade or very limited trade clause. No matter the answer, I would not trade him when the team is in first place.
  17. I think there are an abundance of shortstops being drafted by the Twins because shortstops are usually the best athletes (sorry Bert) on the team. And I will pile on in offering a shout out to the Twins Daily team for your continued coverage and articles.
  18. Rocco is an over thinker. I hate that. He reminds me that I'm a mentaly lazy slob that coasts through life. The mental highlights of my day are remembering to tie my shoes and solving todays Wordle. Lets give the Ivy league front office and Rocco their credit. The Twins are in first place again and nobody could have predicted the pitching staff would be this successful.
  19. Pagan reminds me of Senior Smoke. The game gets too interesting when he is the closer. I vote we name him Junior Smoke and only let him pitch with a 3 run lead or a deficit. The starting staff is carrying this team just like we all predicted it would. Baseball is a funny game to predict.
  20. >>>I haven't really played games on the East Coast too much.<<<Somebody better show Curtis Terry a map. He is barely East of the Mississippi River. But he is right, it is a beautiful stadium.
  21. The average age of all the Saints players has to be almost the same age as the Twins' players.
  22. The man did not give up a run. A pitcher can not do better than that. Smeltzer in a run away.
  23. why the contradiction ? >>> that the Twins won't need a fifth starter very regularly at the beginning of the season. In some years, off-days and weather delays can push back the need for a fifth starter, but that won't be the case this season. <<< They either need a fifth starter often or don't. Either way if the bullpen has to go 6 -7 innings in consecutive games the Twins are in trouble. I see overuse as the main bullpen problem for the last few years.
  24. The first thing I did was check the calander date on my computer to make sure it wasn't April 1st.
