  1. Well, the two years they went full measure by signing Donaldson and Correa was exciting and fun while it lasted. It's a shame that neither signing aged very well. This offseason is the Twins' business model and that's that.
  2. But has anyone ever uttered the phrase "nice Beaver" in your presence?
  3. ........... As you know, MLB makes us play all 9 innings and we usually need someone to pitch 4&2/3 innings every game.
  4. I think the best anology for Sabato is it's time to fish or cut bait. A nice article but uninspiring list of prospects.
  5. My memory said Ryan and Jeffers were Boras clients. I was wrong. Again. This getting old isn't for sissys.
  6. His agent is Scott Boras. No way Ryan does not enter free agency.
  7. I'm not a math guy (I was told there wouldn't be any math) but $500,000 is a lot of money, roughly 8% of the deal. It's easy to spend someone elses money. The Pohlads are not billionairs because they tossed away 8% of anything in any deal, quite the opposite. Go big or go home Tom is following the family motto by saying one thing and doing another. Almost like he is a politician or salesman. It's been 35 years since they won a championship, I don't expect another one in the next 35 with their business model. Attitude is everything, and theirs is on full display.
  8. I'm guessing the front office feels the trade value of the valued four will remain the same if the Twins are 10 games back by June 1st as it is now otherwise I see no reason to hold onto false hope. Before the roster gut last year the team was defensively challenged and they traded two of the better defensive players in Bader and Correa. I just don't see roster improvements anywhere so how can this team compete when last years team sucked at defense, fundamentals and often hitting. No name AAA pitchers often manhandled the hitters with no adjustments from the team. Matthews is a good pitcher, he just gets wild in the zone too often and good hitters can square up the ball and make him pay for it. As much as I like Lopez, Obar and Ryan, Matthews need to pitch in Target Field and perhaps it's time for a total full measure restart.
  9. A half measure would be to obtain one of the worst hitters in MLB. Full measure is to obtain 4 of the worst hitters in MLB.
  10. It's not surprising the Twins are reluctant to dive into the deep end of the free agent pool. 2 of the last 3 big free agent contracts(Donaldson, Correa 1 and Correa 2) kind of blew up in their face and they had to pay someone to take the contract and player off of their hands. And in reality Correa 1 could have ended badly if he stunk and refused the buyouts. Esteury Ruiz would have made a nice pickup. Good speed and defense, just what the Twins lack the most.
  11. If Gasper is on the roster April 1st that will indicate if T-3 was serious about improving the roster or if he was spewing the carefully thoughtout corporate speak which Joe forgot to do on occasion to appease us fans.
  12. Naniboujou Lodge on the North Shore of Lake Superior would work. No TV or cell service plus the Twins save the price of an airline ticket. Oh sorry, no receipts........
  13. well they sure are not going to trade from relief pitching depth.
  14. This tells me there is not a plan to compete in 2026. The 4 best players traded were under control for 2026.(and '27) They were set up to compete in '26 and '27 with Pablo and Ryans contracts included but changed their minds..... Back to the article-Do you agree?- of course the front office should be accountable. More so than Rocco was held accountable. It's the front offices "organizational game plan" that isn't working. Their hitting strategy isn't working and their drafting strategy isn't working and so on. Defense matters. Running the bases well matters. There's a lot of things analytics don't show nor does the box score unless taken in context of the whole game. Now they have fired all but one scout. I'm sure things will get better (sarcasm).
  15. Let's not forget that sign ability is a factor in the decision of who to draft. None of us will know the price attatched to the prep players. Are the Twins still down to one scout employed?
  16. Following a search all winter for starting pitching, the Orioles targeted Shane Baz and paid a heavy price, giving up outfielder Slater de Brun and catcher Caden Bodine -- both first-round picks this year -- breakout right-hander Michael Forret, outfielder Austin Overn and a competitive-balance Round A pick that comes with more than $2.5 million in slot money, sources said. A haul like this should be Ryans worth also.
  17. Hope is the epitomy of "wait until next year". The biggest stamp the Pohlad family had on the '87 and '91 champs was hiring Andy McFail. Since then the Twins were only close to the american league championship once. He is correct in that what they are doing is not working. Good for him for recognizing that much.
  18. only if you look at statistics...........
  19. If he can block the pitches in the dirt, stop the other teams from stealing 2nd whenever they wish and perhaps pick off a runner at first once in a while a close to Mendoza line batting average would be palatable.
  20. This is exactly what shopping at Dollar General yields instead of shopping at Dior.
  21. I would avoid the bad luck that follows the Timberwolves at all costs. Wanting their help is like runing over a black cat on Friday the 13th after breaking a mirror.
  22. Good news for Rocco. I'm happy for him and his family. He seems to be a very nice man and deserves to have a job where he is not the scapegoat for other peoples decisions. I'd guess the on field issues were 10% his fault and the rest roster construction and Falvey's organizational blueprint.
  23. For all we know Minneapolis based Varde Partners, the worldwide multi billion dollar credit investment corporation is who holds the notes on the debt and simply forclosed on the debt without any other avenues to collect. Same as the salary saved by trading the big three will be reinvested into the club instead of going into the Polhads pocket or for their newest Ferrari.
  24. I can attest if you take the grandkids and go to the Twins store for a souvenir not counting parking but with lower level behind the infield seats $200 is close to my amount spent per ticket.
