  1. Why would the Twins do this? If we were going to trade Sano (which i'm quite certain we aren't), I'm pretty sure we'd be putting together a package to get someone better than Archer. You really want to trade Sano for a 28 year old pitcher who has put up a 4 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and was worth 3 WAR combined over the last two years?
  2. I expect Hughes to contribute as much in 2018 as Perkins did in 2017.
  3. Fish used for sushi is always frozen. Though, I'm sure it is cheaper on the coast.
  4. Plenty of good pitchers have played horribly in the playoffs, it happens. Kershaw wasn't exactly impressive for a lot of years in the playoffs. Also, plenty of mediocre and bad pitchers have also played horribly in the playoffs. Also, in order to pitch poorly in the world series, you have to get to the world series. Hell, you have to get to the second round of the playoffs first, which isn't something we've been able to manage for a long long time. You can't discount a guy's history due to 2 games, especially when there was the whole issue of them using different balls that were slicker and not breaking as much, thus a lot of breaking ball pitchers struggling more than usual.
  5. And when they bounce back, the bullpen will still suck because this isn't a one off thing where they're good the rest of the time.
  6. Man, our bullpen is embarrassingly bad.
  7. Don't we have some young pitchers who we could give these low leverage innings to for major league experience, seeing as it's September, instead of wasting them on Perkins? He is clearly cooked, he wasn't even able to pitch effectively in the minors. I hope that was his last Twins appearance.
  8. Different strokes I guess. Personally, I think he's been the best of the fill in broadcasters this season. Though I also know not everyone shares my dislike of Torii or Smalley in the booth.
  9. I feel like some other people on here are acting like Mauer calls the shots, which seems like a very unreasonable assumption. As you said, Molitor makes the lineup card. If Molitor says Mauer is playing, then Mauer is playing. If Mauer says "No, I'm healthy but I'm taking the day off," and Molitor allows this, then thats yet another reason to fire Molitor. If Molitor said, "Joe, you're taking the day off," and Joe said he'd like to play, it's still Molitor's call at the end of the day. Blame for any lineup issue should be placed directly on Molitor (or the FO for the players they provided him with). In this case, this one is entirely on Molitor unless we hear otherwise. If someone comes out and tells us, "Mauer makes the decisions over Molitor," then Molitor should be fired today for not understanding that the manager is in charge. But, we have no reason to believe this to be the case and its foolish to act like it is.
  10. Eyeballing distances isn't my forte.
  11. To be fair, I think even if Sano ran at his top speed the entire time, he would've been out by 5 feet instead of 10 feet.
  12. Yeah, they just showed the replay. He was waving him around and Sano slowed down probably because he was thinking, "what the **** is he doing waving me around?" Buxton would've been out at the plate if he crossed third at the same time as Sano did. There is 0 excuse for sending anyone in that situation, let alone Sano.
  13. Wow. Glynn was waving him around. You gotta be kidding me.
  14. Did Gene Glynn wave Sano around or did Sano blow through a stop sign? Glynn should be fired if he sent Sano.
  15. The Rod Carew story is great and all, but could we get a replay on that inside the park home run instead of 2 minutes worth of footage inside the booth?
  16. I think you're missing a comma on that.
  17. After all the terrible umpiring lately, I thought he was about to ring Sano up on that pitch.
  18. That is factual. 4 or 5 good starts down the stretch here though and he could end the season with a very nice stat line. And even with his clunker starts lately, his season numbers are still well above average. This may also be factual. Unless I've missed it, I really haven't seen anything from the FO on whether or not they were seriously shopping him at any point. I think whether or not he should be here next year depends entirely on what sort of offers we get. No point in trading him just to trade him, but if the price is right, I'd be good with it.
  19. Thats a bit extreme. Prior to this inning, he still had a 3.28 ERA, 1.132 WHIP and 156 IP. He's definitely been trending in the wrong direction though, and I don't think any GM is truly expecting him to put up a full season like the first few months, but he's still got trade value. How much trade value is up for debate.
  20. C'mon Ervin. You're supposed to be increasing your trade value for the offseason.
  21. Sano might just be the best 3rd baseman in the league when it comes to charging in on softly hit balls and bunts.
  22. Polanco is just making Joe work for that salary. Or that seems like the most logical explanation because its hard to believe a MLB player can't throw from second to first on the fly.
  23. Perkins looks like he's aged 20 years since he last pitched for the Twins.
  24. I'll take 1 Yu Darvish, please.
