  1. Honestly, a friend texted me last night and said "why not send Duffey down and bring up a prospect?" There's really nobody left. They could add Wheeler back to the 40-man roster -- and I think they should -- but other than that, they've brought up pretty much anyone and everyone who can help right now.
  2. Should but doesn't have to if you have Kepler, Rosario and Santana on the roster.
  3. (But overall I agree....Grossman can't start. I think his struggles are overstated due to how frequent and recent they've been, but as a fourth outfield/platoon guy you can get by with him.)
  4. If Buxton isn't on the roster, I'm signing someone. Gomez on a one-year, bounceback deal isn't the worst idea.
  5. Also, giving away shortstop defense matters a lot more since that guy is on the field all the time. Grossman and Santana wouldn't be. They'd be little-used backups (at least if it were me in charge).
  6. They think they're at the end of their rebuild. I, I am less sure. But either way, it was a hypothetical. You need to get *that* kind of pitcher to move Dozier.
  7. Wrote an article about the upcoming offseason, and how the GM -- whomever it is -- will handle it heading into next year http://www.todaysknuckleball.com/al/minnesota-twins/making-sense-of-the-offseason-to-come-for-the-twins/ comments and discussion, as always, are welcome/encouraged
  8. I'll say no. They moved Jesse Crain fast when he was a college reliever because he was cruising through each level. With that said, get Hildy up here. He's got nothing left to prove in the minors and is already almost 26.
  9. Nunez has a better arm, and possibly better range. He was just comically uncoordinated at times.
  10. Wasn't that in response to the 80 percent, all over comment? I can't even remember. True enough though, it isn't easy to get him in there, because you can argue Vargas deserves a longer look too.
  11. Plouffe cannot play the outfield. That would be an unmitigated disaster with his lack of footspeed.
  12. Respect the viewpoint and optimism, but just don't see it.
  13. Plouffe will be gone by then.
  14. I think you activate Plouffe and say "sorry Kennys!" for a couple weeks to try get a deal done.
  15. Rosters expand in four.
  16. Pretty close to where I'm at. Two weeks at Rochester while the Twins figure out what to do with Plouffe won't kill Polanco either. And it might not even be Polanco. Might be Vargas (also dubious). But if you can't start Polanco and/or Vargas, you make a move in the meantime.
  17. And again, I'm not saying that's a.| sustainable or b.| his true talent level. But if he's playing OK, I don't mind seeing him that often. I still think he swings at everything, isn't good at stealing and isn't a great defender anywhere. But for the tired "25th-man" argument, he's fine. He's not as good as Jorge Polanco. He's not close. But he's a body who can stand in at a number of positions.
  18. Love it or hate it, in this offensive era getting a .269/.329/.403 line out of your utility player is very, very good.
  19. Since Santana came off the DL, he's started 17 games and came into 10 more as a replacement. The Twins have played almost 40. So he's playing a little less than half the time. Still a little high for me, but.....
  20. Fine, I get that. But he's been a lot better this year than last.
  21. And played well. Again, I don't think he should play this often -- I really think Molitor uses him too much -- but since coming off the DL in mid-June, he's hit .269/.329/.403. It's (strangely) a little like picking up where Eduardo Nunez left off, with a few more walks instead of power.
  22. No way. Alexei Ramirez, Prince Fielder.....those guys are all way worse. By fWAR, Santana is about neutral.
  23. OK, so then you're sitting Sano and Dozier way, way more than you want to. Again, not trading Plouffe put you into this problem, but the fact of the matter is you've got to fix it one way or another. Sending Polanco out -- or Vargas, whatever -- is probably the move they'll make.
  24. Cut the worst player in baseball rather than start him? You've lost me there.
  25. It's comparing apples to oranges: Jorge Polanco is an every day player. Danny Santana is not.
