    I know that about Radke, I did not say that is what I think an average Scott Diamond season will be when his career is over, but it is what I predict for him next season. I would say my predictions are based more on gut feeling and emotional whim than they are on numbers and information. Generally, I think a prediction is only worth making if goes against what others might expect.

    I'm aware of those numbers and was upon making the prediction, but the short answer is I don't care to speculate on WAR.

    I am gonna go ahead and predict that Kevin Correia pitches more innings than Shaun Marcum this year and there is a less than .8 disparity in their ERAs. No adjustment for different leagues needed.

    I think Diamond is going to be a pitcher much like Brad Radke and have a similar career. I'm predicting a year of 200+ innings and sub 3.90 ERA. Don't agree with the doubters and pouters.

    What if they suffer a bad injury before you can trade them? You can't make an agreement to spend money that you have no intent on actually paying. This is baseball, not congress.

    How about the fact that Darin Mastroianni got his first MLB hit against a team (blue jays) for whom he had registered three at-bats the season before. Has a player ever gotten his first MLB hit against a team that he had previous MLB at-bats for? I really want to know. This happened in May and I emailed Jayson Stark about it in July and asked him if he could find out from Elias SB. He told me it was too late to put into an in-season useless info article but that he'd file it away for the end of the year strange but true article. But he didn't put it in there, and if he contacted Elias SB to find out if Mastroianni was the first he didn't let me know about it. Does anyone know how one could request info from Elias SB? There website is not helpful.

    Does anyone else think Wood is going to start the year in the Twins bullpen? I do. He's got tasty Terry Ryan-minor-league-signing slathered all over him IMO.

    If you sign him, and he's healthy. Which approach do you take? Start him and let him burn out after two months, or put him in the bullpen to see if he lasts? Do they maybe see him as an early season bridge to Pelfrey or Gibson? Anyway, I look forward to Terry Ryan sticking it to the doubters.

But I was twelve years old and living in New Jersey at the time and my family had driven to Boston to see the Twins for my Dad's birthday. It was a meaningless game for both teams, but it cemented Rich Becker as my least favorite Twin of all time. He should've caught that ball. We were sitting in centerfielder too. There were numerous other ones I had to sit through in the Bronx for the 5 years I was in NJ. But this one was the worst. East coast fans are just not nice also, they are not family appropriate and if you are wearing the other team's hat thry do not even care if you are a kid.

    This guy is but 2 years removed from having a season that was 4.2 WAR better than James Shields. How can this signing not be liked? I smell steal of the offseason.

    Pelfrey and Correua have probably pitched more inning against the AL than Hendricks. Probably more in AL parks too.
