  1. The last three big ST battles we had...or at least that I can remember: 2008 ST battle for CF: When Gomez 'won' the CF battle, Span had better numbers. 2010 ST battle for 3B: Harris out played Punto. Punto won. You remember. Punto is my starting shortstop (Twins trade for Hardy)...um, okay, Punto is my starting 2B (Twins sign Hudson)...um, ok Punto and Harris will battle for 3B. Oh, surprise surprise, Punto 'wins' 2011 rotation battle with supposedly six quality starters but only 5 spots. The guy who had the best ST ERA (Slowey) was the one who ended up out of the rotation.
  2. Fangraphs has Ryan with 27 defensive runs saved. Tops for the qualifying shortstops. They have Jeter last at -16.4 runs saved. So a gap of 43.4. Fangraphs has Gordon with 24 defensive runs saved. Tops for qualifying LF. Gonzalez and Willingham are tied with -13. A difference of 37.
  3. So, your comment wasn't just about pure defense look? Because a guy who gloves like, say, Hardy or Ryan at shortstop should be way more valuable on the defensive side than even an Alex Gordon in LF...if just looking at what their value is on defense on an even scale, if you get what I mean.
  4. Um, I'm not sure I'm following this...
  5. Found this on another site...I don't tweet, so I have no way to verify if it's true 'Tweet from Darron Wolfson..."Checked with a #MNTwins source on their pursuit of Cuban SS Aledmys Diaz: "The projected money is getting out of hand," the source texted."
  6. Whatever the decision is, it'll be made before ST if it hasn't been made already (and it likely has). ST isn't gonna change anything.
  7. Prado has been signed to an extension...a move that was obviously going to happen.
  8. Or, since WIllingham hit 21 at home all by himself, and we only increased HR output at home by 17 HR since opening year at Target Fied, maybe it was just him. Twins really haven't increased THEIR HR hitting at home since 2010. They just brought in a HR hitter. The Twins pitching staff; however, has steadily increased the amount they've given up...
  9. In 2010,Twins pitchers gave up the 64 HR (24th most) 2011: 80 (10th most) 2012: 6th most HR at home (98) So trending up. An increase of 34 Thing is, for the Twins hitters: 2010 we hit 52 HR (28th) 2011 we hit 46 HR (27th) 2012 we hit 69 HR (20th) An increase of 17 and going down, then up. So is it due to the 'quality' of our pitching or the park settling?
  10. and days that end in 'y', but only for his lefties... :-)
  11. But besides all that...whatcha got? :-)
  12. And Jim Pohlad has said he's pretty hands off when it comes to how his GM spends the money. Ryan said money wouldn't be an issue. You want to put the blame on the owners.
  13. o Okay, I meant...wow, lot of RH pitchers in the top ranks for that to happen...and since the list favors RF pitching, how far back in the RH pitcher rankings does May have to be to not make the top 100 if Gisbon could be out of the top 10 in RH pitcher ranking and still in the top 50 overall :-)
  14. So that would be to RF, not LF... :-)
  15. If we expand it out to that, which is a good idea BTW, then you also have to factor in what we lost to get Worley. So, which is better...two choices: A: We got a pre-arbitration Worley with injury issues and who has never pitched 140 innings in his two seasons, while we lost Revere's defense and improving offense in the two hole. B: Signing Correia to a 2 yr/10M contract. P.S., yes May was acquired as well, but he's got to be pretty far down the RH prospect list if Gibson isn't even in the top 10 for RH pitching and yet still manages to sit at 49 overall. Additionally, it's a two window time frame we're looking at when comparing the two, May not even make the Twins till 2015. Thoughts?
  16. anyone else find it weird Gibson was ranked 49th but wasn't even ranked in the top 10 of right handed pitchers by the same exact guy?
  17. What's this thread about again? Correia, right? We can't talk about him, or our opinions on him or his abilities (one ability in question, his ability to eat 180+ innings with us...of course, some expanded it and wondered what results would come of it if he did go 180+ innings with us) So what should we talk about everyone? Who is gonna win the Super Bowl?
  18. Would stink to have an ignore list consisting of everyone who disagrees with you....it'd get rather boring...but I guess it'd make you feel better about your own opinions...
  19. maybe if our hitters got to face our pitchers, we'd have no issues ourselves? :-)
  20. Apparently you need to be self-aware to know the difference :-)
  21. You forgot going headfirst at 1B and playing ground balls off the hip when he can get in front of the ball. :-)
  22. self awareness huh? Interesting. You're full of insults. Spend a lot of time insulting people you don't know because of their opinion. What does that say about you? Since, you know, you're apparently self aware.
