  1. I can't wait until Lewis/Kirilloff are healthy. Can we give Correa a stint on the IL?
  2. I can see the approaches going backwards though on these ABs. Why are we not being aggressive at pitches in the zone and just watching them down the middle? I sometimes get watching the first pitch, but even Julien was in front there and watched a 2-1 pitch in the middle of the zone. That's the count you take a chance at unloading on and tip the cap if a pitcher throws something off speed or something that fools you and can control it that well in that moment. So many called third strikes as well and we're arguing pitches that are in the zone as balls (Wallner in the first). What are we doing? The whole electronic strike zone thing has made these hitters think taking close pitches with 2 strikes is a virtue. They will take an out and think they are right over actually making a winning play.
  3. Correa's worst contact of the night and it's a single. BASEBALL
  4. So the minor league thread isn't up yet and I will just post here: Jenkins, Winokaur, and Keaschall with good games again that's awesome to see Have you all seen Langford's stat lines? Already promoted to A+ and has 3 doubles, 2 triples, and a home run in 5 games. Correction: .370 average, 4 doubles, 2 triples, and a home run in 6 games
  5. I was but I guess I insert my own narrative onto games. I see what I need to see. It explains how I get my takes.
  6. Polanco looks pretty good at third... he moves really well for the position even if his arm strength isn't great.
  7. Kelly pitches a little like Joe Ryan when he's on
  8. Hot take (and this applies to Wallner's HBP): If you get hit with a ball and your body is outside of the batters box or that part of the body is you shouldn't get to go to first base.
  9. How are you missing a hanging breaking ball down the middle of the zone?
  10. That Jeffers reaction to being hit in the face was awesome. Need a GIF of that.
  11. Gray is trash the third time through the order. He truly collapses no matter his pitch count.
  12. It's interesting that AK started to pull a few pitches to generate power (and did so successfully) and now he's striking out on everything.
  13. The approach of these young guys is just so refreshing to watch.
  14. Man! Correa I swear has the worst batted ball luck.
  15. Lots talking about logjams once Polanco/Lewis get here, but how nice would it be to be able to bring two of Polanco/Lewis/Julien/Correa/Wallner off the bench to pinch hit.
  16. I have a Joey Gallo profile as a poster. Long stretches of no posting events, but the ones that do happen are high quality. This is a very paradoxical thing to my preference for many batted ball events when I watch the games.
  17. No, but larger volume and variety of batted ball events compared to a Gallo profile seems to be true. If I were to run to be elected as the decision maker for the Twins my platform would be centered around maximizing the number of batted ball events that the Twins have.
  18. Wallner has a larger volume and larger variety of types of batted ball events compared to Gallo lol
  19. I like that Wallner is clearly a guy that can hit for power and has a solid eye to get on base, but he has batted ball events somewhat consistently outside of his barrels that lead to hits even if it's technically not great contact. To me, this is a difference between his profile and say a Gallo type of profile which is a good reason for optimism.
  20. I love having players like Lewis, Julien, and Kirilloff whose approach, eye at the plate, and contact skills are so good. It feels like there was an over-emphasis on guys who started from the framework of pulling the ball and hitting the ball for power and trying to maximize the three true outcomes. The real success of this approach is when you start with that foundation and then learn how/when to turn on balls and try to drive the ball. I think Lee will be in this mold as well, I would argue Polanco is too although he likely won't stick around (I want to find a way to keep him though).
