  1. He did neither of those things today. Does that mean he pushed the buttons slightly better?
  2. Posts like this make me miss BYTO. He managed fine.
  3. My hot take is that the minor leaguers most likely to make an impact in the pen this year are Jay and Romero, perhaps Chargois if he makes a recovery soon. Anyone else is just a placeholder.
  4. It's not a punishment.
  5. Doubtful. A likely backup catcher (if it comes together) is not more important than a starting first baseman. The Twins are (rightfully) trying to win right now, not evaluate marginal prospects. If they fall out of it, then Garver can get some reps. If there's an injury, maybe he can get some sooner.
  6. Years of losing and bad weather will depress attendance. If the Twins stay decent, I bet it starts to pick up a little bit.
  7. Garver isn't that good of a hitter that he'd be playing over Mauer, Grossman and Vargas.
  8. https://mlbreports.com/tj-surgery/ This is the best I could find with a quick search. If anything, seems Twins are on the low end.
  9. I don't really see the rush either. He's an injury away, and barring that, he should get a September look.
  10. Tjat was my thought too. Nice start, not dominant. Hopefully he'll have a couple more and can then move up to AAA. He still might make it to the bigs this year.
  11. Everyone would love to see a fluid bullpen stocked with young arms. But every single person you mentioned as a possibility got hurt. Every one. And Chargois didn't get hurt in AAA, he got hurt in spring training of a season he was poised to break camp in the bigs. This is all very unfortunate. Hopefully the new front office can improve. Can't really do worse.
  12. He's already had a pretty significant injury. He's probably not done with them.
  13. It's really hard to keep track of everything happening in this Administration. The attempted subversion of our country and its institutions is happening in broad daylight. For the rest of my life I will never cease to be amazed that that many people voted for Donald Bleeping Trump.
  14. Hopefully his injury is already out of the way.
  15. One is going for Mejia. And they still probably want a long man.
  16. Probably both. But hopefully the program can be improved. Lots and lots of pitchers get hurt in the minors. Making the bigs is as much surviving as anything.
  17. Might work. I'm not against him getting a chance. I'm not sure there's a strong need at this exact moment. I'd keep Pressly, and don't think they're going to cut Belisle or Breslow yet. Duffey, Rogers, Kintzler obviously aren't going anywhere either.
  18. Because it's a theoretical suggestion, not an actual look at the real people that exist in the Twins farm system. But laughed out of the water seems hyperbolic. I don't think anyone is against guys coming to the majors, if healthy options actually existed.
  19. He was shut down early last season and had a slow start to the spring because if an elbow injury. Personally, I'm not against him coming up, but I don't have especially high hopes for him.
  20. The pattern is they all got hurt. Literally every reliever they drafted in the higher rounds.
  21. Been basically the same story for every other reliever people keep clamoring for. In theory the Twins should move their relievers faster. In reality they've all been hurt.
  22. Nice thought, but I don't think mlb teams can be this altruistic.
  23. I'm a little skeptical. Relievers break in at all ages. I would be interested in some data. See my previous post. Most successful strategy recently has been allowing them to start for a couple years. Maybe arm strength builds up better that way? I just don't think rushing guys to the bigs does much other than have unready relievers that are throwing higher stress innings earlier. I would also never again draft a reliever earlier than the 4th or 5th round, and for someone that high I would use the Duffey development plan.
  24. I generally agree that the drafting of so many relievers over the 3 year stretch was a bad idea, but it's pretty amazing that every single one of them had a significant injury. Taylor Rogers and Tyler Duffey were the only two that made it through. Rogers was a 12th rounder and Duffey was a 5th rounder, and both were starters for most of their time in the minors. Maybe there's a lesson there.
  25. If you read it online, I'm convinced.
