  1. Because we enforce rules to make sure it doesn't happen. I imagine most baseball players would prefer not to have to worry about it too. In fact, Donaldson just said as much publicly a month or so ago.
  2. You might convince Bloomberg simply on the anti-Trump appeal and chance to take him down. I mentioned him for exactly that intriguing notion of sort of being anti-venom for Trump.
  3. I don't know of any setting in which violence and attempt to physically harm others is tolerated as part of the workplace environment than sports. And only a few sports allow it as an "extra" thing like baseball and hockey. But you're right, it's a snake with shoes to compare hurling an object with intent to harm someone with....hurling an object with intent to harm someone. How dare I compare those two clearly (huh?) different (um, no, not even remotely) actions.
  4. Even smart people can have some really dumb#*^ ideas sometimes.
  5. If you pick up a whiskey bottle and hurl it at someone in the bar and they call the police - will you be arrested? The answer is yes. You said they weren't "trying to harm someone" - which is patently false. They were. The only difference with their behavior is the locale in which it happened. If this happened outside a bar the police would be called and people would be arrested for disorderly conduct. That's just a fact, sorry it doesn't jive with your desire to feel both morally justified while at the same time chanting "we want blood" from the stands. But you are, in fact, applauding violence and harm against other humans for your entertainment. It'd be easier if you just accepted that rather than trying to hold some moral high ground that is of your own invention.
  6. If your idea of adding Ventura involves handing them Nolasco as part of the deal, you are playing a video game with the setting on "For Grandmas"
  7. Are all buy-lows created equally? Personally, I prefer the "underachiever who was formally high regarded" over the "this guy is a freaking whack job/criminal".
  8. While there is certainly a large difference (please note this before anyone responds) between Chapman,Peterson, and other clowns and these guys, let's not dismiss Ventura and Machado's behavior. They too are trying to do real harm. The only difference between what Ventura and Machado are doing and assault (Or some other arrestable offense) is that it happened in the middle of a baseball field and not a bar.
  9. Yeah, Warren has apparently hoodwinked a lot of people about her age. I think people are confusing new to politics with young. What swing state options does she have? Or does she do a more independent thinker like Bloomberg?
  10. Good list. I, like others it seems, just have serious doubts this organization will capitalize on any of them. I hope they prove me wrong.
  11. I'm sure he'll "see the light" and be a changed man too.
  12. I understood waiting for California, but he got demolished. Every minute he's still in the race it reflects poorly on him.
  13. Ventura is an idiot, like most people who think this is the way to solve problems. Machado has his own history of that stupidity too. Both of them should grow up. And so should the rest of us - watch your HR soar, pump your fist after strikeouts, feel free to enjoy your own work. I don't hesitate to be excited about things I accomplish, why should people running around playing a kid's game? Have fun and lighten up guys.
  14. No, it's foreclosed. He once again lost in every state in which there was a ballot-based voting system and the population had a sizable minority. All he did was hold down largely white areas of the country, areas liberals will hold down anyway. Time to get out Bernie. It's past time really.
  15. You mean that handful of games Hicks didn't suck weren't reason to lament that trade? Shocked. I'm shocked. This is my shocked face.
  16. Yeah, it'd just be the wrong kind of twist for this show. Arya being manipulative and smart in goading the Waif out to a confrontation is much better storytelling. Plus it would actually show off some of those vaunted skills we've heard so much about!
  17. I fail to see your point, this is the Twins.
  18. I'd be more interested in seeing if Wong is a buy-low candidate.
  19. The backlash it's getting across the web may be better for Bernie than anything else that could have happened.
  20. I don't know about the bi-polar theory, but the other one makes a crap load of sense. I've just become much more intrigued with Arya again.
  21. I agree that it's not easy to find, but Boston found someone to take some whoppers. I wouldn't argue Mauer is in the same boat as Crawford.
  22. Yeah, I wouldn't place her among the mistaken cast choices. Kit Harrington, however, probably tops my list. There's just no emotional range. I think the show doesn't get enough credit, especially from former book readers. It was nigh impossible (in fact, Martin claimed that was part of the point!) to adapt the series. That they have, and done as well as they have, is nothing to scoff at. It's easily the greatest achievement in fantasy television in terms of scope.
  23. Unless you find a sucker to take the contract from you. So it's not like these are the only two options.
  24. Yeah, Oliver is nothing short of revolutionary. If you aren't watching him, you should start.
  25. Also, holding anyone to the standard of Diana Rigg is unfair. Only Charles Dance has held his own in her presence. She's one of the most captivating people on the show IMO.
