  1. A huge bust, he's lowered his walk rate and still maintained a solid K-rate at AA. He's still got some work, but I wouldn't call him a bust by anymeans and is a damn solid pickup for 2 months of the dirty Hawaiian.
  2. Boo to extending non-elite relief pitchers!!!
  3. Or Span gets dizzy again...all I'm saying is the value is sky high and you shouldn't trade Span just for the sake of trading him. But the urge to move him should be strong.
  4. I wonder if the fact that Stubbs has been killing the ball since June change the Reds thinking of how much they'll give up?
  5. The Twins should be able to get more for Span, but Martin isn't chopped liver so I wouldn't complain.
  6. But if you identify memebers of your team that aren't part of the future of this club longterm (Willingham & Span) It makes sense to sell while there value is at there highest (which atleast for Willingham it is)
  7. Well it was going to end eventually ( even though I personally could see them winning the East next season) The Phillies were all in and this is what you get, alot of bloated contracts. They can still move Lee and that frees up some cash, they can make things happen still. It's not like they're doomed. We'd be kneeling at the Pohlads feet if they had the same commitment to winning.
  8. There's a odd thin line when it comes to selling low on pitchers. Tillman, Cecil & Jair have so little value that the teams might as well hang onto them and hope for lighting in a bottle. But taking a risk like the Sox did when they gave up legit value for Danks & Floyd...that's the type of move the Twins need to look at. It's always a risk, but the Sox bought low on two former top prospects and have been rewarded quite well from it.
  9. http://www.startribune.com/sports/twins/164351676.html Something many of us have been complaining about the Twins doing for years. Selling low, buying high and not realizing when the moment was right.
  10. I'd put money on them taking Wimmers over Sale.
  11. Seems like a good day to give Morneau a rest, but maybe Morneau "wants a piece" of Liriano.
  12. I could actually see Liriano pitching well tonight. A lefty heavy Twins lineup and Liriano has always killed lefties. I'm guessing a gritty 6IP 3H 3ER 2BB 7K
  13. The Phillies are having the greatest run in the history of that franchise. They've been in win now mode for the last 5-6 years. When you're in win-now mode this is what happens. Ruban has made plenty of mistakes, but I get why he did them.
  14. I'm shocked it's not a picture of his lord and savior Scott Boras.
  15. Exactly, as nice as it is having Perkins in the pen, it's 60 innings a season. Hell everyone on this roster should be in play today or in the offseason.
  16. There's no fun in guess how bad Blackburn is gonna get lit up.
  17. I wouldn't do it for Perkins either, but I pray to everything holy that the Twins have let teams know that Perkins is in play for a trade. Teams lose there minds for relief pitchers at the deadline.
  18. It's called a "risk", might blow up in your face or you get a young everyday outfielder for the next 5 years for a scrap heap signing relief arm.
  19. Can AJ or Flowers squat low enough for Liriano's liking?
  20. I probably would have made the move for Burton, relief arms fluctuate so much from year to year. To turn a minor league signing into a potential starting everyday player...I would have made that move.
  21. It's not like the Hicks, Arcia & Benson group are gonna be up early next season. Give Snider 400 at-bats and lets finally see if he can play. Plus it allows Willingham to DH (where he belongs) Doumit to be an actually backup catcher. Snider is league min or damn close to it.
  22. If for the second year in a row the Twins do nothing at the deadline (except save the Pohlads some cash on the Liriano trade) I'm going to lose my mind.
  23. Buying low this something the Twins just don't understand, now selling low is more there style. I'd love to see them give a Snider a chance and if it doesn't work out no biggie cause you didn't give up much.
  24. Even an misrable ******* like myself can endorse this thread...nice post.
