    This is actually quite the rarity for the Twins. Normally, they're either good and they make the playoffs or they're horrendous. There aren't a lot of near misses in their history.

    Verducci says Mauer has not hit one into the right field corner all season long but then backs up that statement by saying he was really good at hitting the ball over the left field plexi glass at the Dome, apparently thinking this was 1991 and he was talking about Kirby Puckett as the plexiglass hasn't been around in over 20 years.

    It is really in clubs best interest to play everyone through Sunday. With the WC games and playoff series not starting til Thu or Fri guys don't need (or want) three or four days off. That is an eternity. You could start your ace on Sunday and still run him out there for Game 1 on Friday on regular rest.
