  1. No, my issue lies in my putting a projection on a group of people sharing the argument that you are making, not you personally, and having the return remark intended individually. Your request is not only absurd, but also incredibly offensive in a country where democracy and Liberty are valued. No one has the right to ever request your individual election voting record. In fact, your employer would be violating federal law to even ask and would face federal employment sanctions. What I will tell you is that I honestly do not remember each election, but I know in the four presidential elections I've been able to participate in, I've voted for three parties.
  2. I cheated because I thought it was still one award for all of baseball still then, and I knew '51 was Mays' year, so I wouldn't have guessed that guy. Someone you definitely don't think of when you think of the 50s and 60s Yankee great teams, but he was a consistent cog for them, even made 5 All-Star teams!
  3. That's a good, balanced approach to it. I'm a registered independent, and consider myself a fiscal conservative and social liberal (and they can match up). What I will say is don't be surprised if your choices are not for someone that you can believe in as much as it is for someone who offends you the least. Sadly, that's much of what the political landscape has become because of the strong pandering to the fringes of the voting base on both sides.
  4. I'm not, but thanks for assuming. I'm not sure why any attempt to further a discussion is an attack. When what the "blinders for the right" folks see a financial incentive for those who are under-privileged or disabled, it's a hand out, and lots of rhetoric follows. Even if you and I got the same ID for free, others would be pissed off because it makes it easier for illegal immigration or for the Muslims to destroy America or something else that's a typical response to any attempt at assisting those who are in need. It's just pretty obvious the rhetoric on voting that comes from one side when they follow it up with the redistricting BS that happened, so do voter registration arguments come off as against Republicans? Yes, but it's 100% of the party's doing, not those who are attempting to have the debate.
  5. It really has little to do with felon/non-felon. It has to do with the majority of felons being minorities. The majority of minorities vote Democrat. Therefore, the majority of felons would vote Democrat. Sure, you could argue each individual candidate, but historical voting patters show that minorities vote for Democrats, so any voting restriction that restricts minorities is, in fact, lessening a Democratic voting base, and if you don't think the Republican brain trust (oxymoron if I've said one lately) knows that when they put forth their voting restriction/redistricting proposals, you're fooling yourself.
  6. I know Twins fans find it funny, but I also know Yankees fans find the Mauer foul line call funny, and I'm pretty sure not a single Twins fan would giggle about that...
  7. I do plenty. It takes a pretty specially touched homerific person not named Hrbek to claim there wasn't a poor call on that play.
  8. You sure? How long until it turns into the rhetoric about how your tax money is paying for the ID for someone just using it to go buy beer, akin to the EBT argument that food benefits just encourage people to spend money on cigarettes and alcohol, nevermind that EBT cannot be used on either, so it's a very loose correlation at best and certainly not a causation.
  9. That's no slight to his on-field career. I've had numerous encounters with the man, and I hope never to have another. I truly think he's one of the most vile, self-absorbed non-politicians I've ever met. However, he's a local guy who made good and does "good" things with his money, so a lot have a different opinion. This particular moment was one where Hrbek's competitiveness caused him to go beyond the scope of the game. Seeing myself in the same spot, would I have done the same? Very possibly, to be honest, but as a Braves fan first and Twins fan first, I was outraged at the call live, and after years of replays and everyone BUT Hrbek saying it was a poor call, it adds to my already poor opinion of the man. At least guys like Joe Niekro and others have come clean to admit their bending the rules, but Hrbek never has once.
  10. I'll admit to having read this and not recalling where I saw it, but the states that had "voter fraud" initiatives enacted for the 2014 election experienced less than 1% voter fraud at the polls, but they also experienced the lowest percentage of minority vote and vote from those with a household income below the poverty line in their history since the Voting Rights Act was passed 50 years prior.
  11. ...and how do you propose to "prove" such things? Most solutions include IDs, but that would be exclusive to many who cannot afford the relatively high costs of an ID card. Birth certificate or social security card also presents another logistical issue that can be both racially and financially exclusive. I would not have an issue with this, if I didn't see it as such an obvious play to exclude certain voting groups that tend to vote for one party.
  12. Jeez...Cooper. Ridiculous goof on my part.
  13. PacMan Jones should be suspended, and he should have been thrown out for what he did with Amari Toomer. The worst of it is that he wasn't thrown out, and later in that same game, he injured Raiders QB Derek Carr on an awkward hit. If I'm a Raiders fan, I'm PO'd at Overlord Goodell and his officials right now.
  14. I understand you're utilizing sarcasm. The sad part is this would be a real thought for a number of Twins fans I've discussed the series with over the years.
  15. Yep, basically take the worst of TD ever, multiply it by a dozen or so, and that's virtually every Braves forum right now, especially those who have no idea what a rebuild is. That said, the Braves have one of the deepest systems in the game at this point.
  16. One of my favorite NBA players when I first started watching the league in the mid-80s - Moses Malone.
  17. I'm a lifelong Braves fan, and I cover the Braves, specifically the minor leagues, for Tomahawk Take. I'm in my mid-30s, but my Braves story is that my great grandma was a big fan of Hank Aaron, and she wanted another baseball nut, so at age 4, she got me Hank's biography as I was reading at that point. It took me almost a year to read it, but by the time I did, I followed the Braves and found they had the best player in the game at the time in Dale Murphy. I was hooked, even though the team was terrible at the time.
  18. David Ortiz with his 500th home run. Good for him! Begin the front office pile-on now...
  19. I missed today's game, but scouting the stat lines, I was surprised to see the move so quickly to Smith in the backfield. Wolitarsky outproduced his entire 2014 with today's performance. Boddy-Calhoun with a pick made me happy as well as he's going to have to play up for the defense to really make the impact both on run and pass defense.
  20. Hrbek = waste of Earth's oxygen, and not because of this play, but it does take a special sort of homer not to see that as a play that would be reversed today with replay.
  21. So, I already took off the days from work. I'll be at both Braves games at Target Field, July 26-27 next summer. My wife will get her first taste of Target Field, and I'll get to watch what should be a very young and exciting (even if the won-loss record won't be pretty) Braves squad.
  22. Graham really torques his upper body to get any movement on that upper 90s. Likewise with his offspeed stuff. I was hoping that if he remained in the Braves system that they'd teach him a split and put him in the bullpen as a split paired with a straight high-velocity fastball is a good combo, with the split acting as a change with movement. Not sure if Graham's hands could handle it, but that'd be where I'd go. I think his possibility as a starter is gone. He simply will not be able to remain healthy, start, and throw upper 90s with any wiggle on the fastball or any of his breaking stuff. So, you can keep him starting with the same stuff and he won't be healthy, you can relieve him and keep the same stuff and he'll still eventually break down again, or you can adjust the stuff drastically to attempt to hold onto healthy starting. I am/was a huge JR Graham fan, so it makes me sad to see him get to this point, but he could be a dominant reliever with a new pitch or two, so there's still some chance of high-level production from his skill set. Otherwise, what you see in 2015 will be what you should expect to see going forward.
  23. One thing I've noticed, and I'm guilty of this as well, is that we are all often ranking a stadium based on one viewing. I have seen Miller Park multiple times, but if my only visit was being rained on by a closed roof stadium, it'd definitely be my last place stadium. As it is, I have it in my bottom half, but I would say that certain stadiums get a bum rap if you happen to catch a bad game or a bad matchup or a bad weather night or whatever.
  24. Especially when they don't work. I got rained on throughout the game with the roof closed this summer. The biggest positive I can say about Miller Park is that I love the homage to the Milwaukee Braves within the ballpark. That's about it.
  25. We had a long thread on this over the summer. Having been to ten this summer, I put PNC Park definitely at #1. Target's in my top 5, but I also enjoy history quite a bit, and I've not been to Camden yet, and my brother assures me that will be a favorite for me, knowing what I like in a stadium.
