  1. mike wins the internet today. Gibson was almost ready before his TJ surgery. He's 6-8 months further removed from surgery than Pelfrey, a guy who has shown almost nothing in ST and the first 2 months of the season. Hernandez will be lucky to eke out a career as a LOOGY. DeVries is underwhelming to say the least. The entire rotation is a perverse joke. So why does Gibson have to string together a handful of good starts to get promoted? I see a bunch of mediocre/bad pitchers with poor/nonexistent track records in MLB. Time to take off the kid gloves IMO.
  2. Luckily for Gibson, he'd be joining a AAAA staff.
  3. They definitely still need more high-upside pitchers in the org, I just meant Buxton's talent really looks like it was too much to pass up. I've been more critical of the Twins than most fans but I have to praise them on this one. Well done by the scouting dept. and FO for recognizing the talent and taking a long-term view of the system. Even though many thought Buxton was the #1 prospect in the draft, the easy move would've been to go with one of the college pitchers to try to help their pathetic starting staff quickly (had to get a shot in).
  4. I'll admit that last year I was one of those guys doing the whole "ZOMG another toolsy HS outfielder we need pitchers aaaarrrgghh!". Holy crap, was I ever wrong.
  5. The fact that Morneau looks the same as the 2011 version is what is the most aggravating. I was optimistic that this year he would somewhat resemble the great hitter he was. If this casual baseball rube can see the issue, I'm sure the coaches have. I know the Twins are just a poor, little small-market team but they surely have access to a couple of tees, right? Looking forward to your next article. Keep up the good work, Parker.
  6. I'm also not concerned about Baby J. On the other hand, that guy that used to be Justin Morneau looks hopeless. He flies open so early that he's going to get beaned in the junk one of these days.
  7. (under construction)
  8. Daniel Ernesto Santana, SS, New Britain Rock Cats. Be sure to check it out for future updates like handedness, age and birthplace!
  9. No matter what happens, we will always have those heady days of early April.
  10. I bet a cardboard cutout of Jim Pohlad in the clubhouse would provide the proper motivation.
  11. I'm glad Dozier isn't batting 2nd. He was apparently pressing last year and doesn't need added the pressure of filling a spot in the batting order that is above his capability. Batting Mauer at #2 makes a lot more sense than Dozier at #2 and Parmelee at #8.
  12. Rational Me would rank Mauer at #3 but that dude is a buzzkill.
  13. I enjoy ripping Baby Jesus more than most but even I think he should be in the #3-#6 range.
  14. For the sake of Twins fans mental health, Twins Daily should try to avoid posting articles regarding RF, MI and the rotation in a 12 hour span.
  15. Can Correia do anything that DeVries/Hendricks/Walters can't (besides take up 10X the payroll)?
  16. You are much more knowledgeable than me when it comes to the Twins and baseball in general. However, I do think it's fairly clear the Twins don't go after these types of players because they aren't willing to spend the money. The fact that it could easily be inferred as some inexplicable mystery is what bothered me.
  17. "There was a belief that prominent free agents wouldn't sign in Minnesota." Were prominent FAs unwilling to sign with the Twins or were the Twins unwilling to pay prominent FAs? Maybe it wasn't the author's intent but the statement is loaded with Sid Hartman-esque delusion and blame deflection. The rest I found to be a good read.
  18. On the bright side, Levi Michael has a chance to solidify New Britain's MI for years to come.
  19. Brad, Which is more satisfying: Little Caesar's Pizza or watching Drew Butera at bat?
  20. But where will the Twins find the money to sign the Ponsons, Batistas, Castros and Correias of the world in 2019?
  21. Good stuff, Eric. I do have to say breaking down the Twins Opening Day starting options is like ranking the Police Academy movies (Kevin Correia is Police Academy 4: Citizens on Patrol).
  22. Maybe if the Twins org made any effort at fielding a competitive team in the near future. The fact that the Twins did nothing to address the disasters that are their rotation and middle infield leads any reasonable person to conclude that the Twins don't concern themselves with such things.
  23. The cynic in me sees this article as pre-emptive rationalization for the Twins continuing to cut payroll and sign players players off the scrap heap. The Orioles are giving the Twins org a perfect excuse to stand pat or make minor changes on the periphery. I can't wait for the offseason. "The lineup is great blah blah blah...Bruce Chen really solidifies the starting rotation... Diamond and Deduno are aces blah blah...are you guys as excited as me about (minor league FA no one has heard of)? He's the next Deduno...Just a tweak here and there and the Twins are blah blah blah..." Here's to one more year of the Pohlads pissing on your leg and telling you it's raining!
  24. Anybody with one arm and a pulse has a chance to be a back-of-the-rotation starter for the Twins next year.
  25. Grienke, Hamilton, these examples are all over the place. How many stories have we read about athletes with diabetes? I'm not a psychologist but the difference with Grienke and Hamilton (IMO) is their disorder can consume their entire lives while Span's acute disorder requires him to endure a noisy box for 45 minutes.
