  1. Doze has got 30! Impressive!
  2. Is that you, Phil Cuzzi?
  3. I should also probably add that I'm going back through my pictures from last year due to a hard drive crash, followed by the backup recovery and necessary reorganization. I'm in Prague right now, shortly to be followed by Budapest, after which we'll get to Vienna. I have central Europe on my mind right now.
  4. We talked about this a little over a year ago. (When I was in Vienna. It's not weird.)
  5. That was in Vienna wasn't it?
  6. Well that just took a turn for the crappy.
  7. I know a lady who likes to chew. She's not terribly attractive. You didn't want anyone attractive though, did you?
  8. What's the difference? Are they both pretty much the same thing?
  9. Hey guys! What'd I miss? Oh.
  10. I understand none of these references.
  11. Speaking for myself, it's not about Vargas per se; it's about the use of resources to maximize the future.
  12. Sadly, I agree with this. (Though I think Vargas has a chance to be more than AAAA, but probably not for the Twins.) Plouffe is the easiest non-tender candidate we have, and D. Santana is proving to be simply bad at baseball. Rotations through 3B, 1B, and DH can easily include playing time for Mauer, the steady veteran, and Vargas, Sano, and Polanco, the up-and-coming rookies. There you go. Plenty of playing time for everyone that we need to evaluate, and everyone else who is actually competent and/or here next year. Easy stuff.
  13. Well there it is. Proof of what I suspected all along: the Twins have a historically toxic combination of ineptitude and bad luck. They're supposed to be terrible, and they're even worse. Still, it's nice to see the good batting, and it's nice to see the young guys coming along. At least the future is a lot brighter.
  14. Quote: "Rettenmund played 13 games in the big leagues after one season in Rochester. That season he was The Sporting News Minor League Player of the Year after hitting .331 with 22 homers for the Red Wings. He was the International League’s Rookie of the Year and MVP in 1968" My first reaction was how does a guy have so much success in AAA and then only go on to play 13 games in the majors? So I looked him up. Turns out it was 13 years.
  15. He better have. Or else he needs a new suit guy.
  16. So he gets a 5 run lead right? ...he might need it.
  17. The conclusory bothers me as well. There is literally nothing in this game that is obvious or certain. Well, wait, but there's always...... NO. NOTHING.
  18. We're mostly just crappies dressed in shark suits.
  19. You're onto something here, but with regard to #3, how could you possibly NOT have questions about Garver after less than a month of major league time? Even if he OPSes 1.000 with good defense, isn't there a SSS warning klaxon going off in your head? I just don't think there's any way around having a stopgap or a big signing. Those are the only two possible options. I lean toward a stopgap, given that we already have Centeno, plus the three other high-minors catchers sloshing around AA and AAA in Turner, Garver, and Murphy.
  20. Lame. I'll see if I can VPN in.
  21. I keep seeing this, and I do note the fact that you say it "seems" like they get promoted slowly in the low minors and quickly in the high minors. It's gaining traction simply because it gets repeated again and again and again. I've asked this before and no one stepped up to the plate. I'll ask it again. Where is the proof? Isn't the burden on the people who continue to assert this as if it's fact? I'm legitimately interested to know whether this is real, but until you can back it up, saying "it seems like" isn't going to cut it. Put up or shut up.
  22. Is mlb.tv going to black me out of the away broadcast anyway?
  23. "Any kind of rookie hazing going on Joe?" "Well, we really try to encourage the young guys." Yep, that's Joe Mauer.
  24. I'd watch that. I mean, I'm guessing it'll be difficult for the Twins to win back-to-back World Series anyway, so we might as well watch Mauer win another one.
