1. Plouffe hit the piss out of that ball too.
2. Blacksie's arm must be sufficiently tired tonight, groundballs o' plenty.
3. What about tightly wound baseballs? Thinner bat handles? Smaller parks? Better training and conditioning? Not everything would be more difficult for hitters.
4. I'd take Ramon Ortiz over Sidney Ponson too.
5. Which is something else Jeff Gray doesn't do. He's a lousy reliever, get rid of him.
6. "Official" scorers.
7. Interesting, in a "why the hell would you throw that?" sort of way. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index.php/giving-up-the-count-advantage/ The highlight:

[TH=align: left]Pitching Team[/TH] [TH=align: center]% HRs 0-2[/TH]

Minnesota Twins 5.9%

San Diego Padres 5.1%

New York Yankees 5.0%

Philadelphia Phillies 4.8%

Atlanta Braves 4.6%

Data: 2010-Present

I know Chief will appreciate this thread.
8. Worst dude, it's worst.
9. That might hurt someone's feelings, and we can't have that.
10. This isn't exactly the most progressive of organizations.
11. Behold the awesomeness that is Jeff Gray, the untouchable! Someone, please, explain to me the fascination with this guy?
12. 0 saves. They're no Matt Capps.
13. Another bullpen-related head scratcher, why is Burton routinely getting mentioned in the same breath as Gray. One is clearly not like the other, at least it should be clear.
14. So you're not always right? Wrap your head around that paradox.
15. Let's fight for .400 first.
16. Jeff Gray is quietly building himself a bit of a cult following. When was the last time a lousy reliever generated so much support?
17. Chief is right. It's common netiquette to provide links to information when it's copied verbatim. That, and people may want to know or check out where the info is coming from.
18. I find your references to "sabre dudes" to be, quite frankly, stupid and just plain ******* ignorant. And I say that with the least amount of tongue-in-cheek possible.
19. Isn't it more like apples and apples? It doesn't matter, they're both rotten.
20. Unless you're trying to acquire a starting shortstop with some power and a pretty good glove, then they apparently have value.
21. The Pirates disagree. The A's will have to settle for 2nd worst.
22. Cutting Jeff Gray is "giving up?"
23. The "if everyone else is doing their job it's ok if someone sucks" rationale. If the upgrade is there, or potentially there, who cares if other areas happen to be worse? Is the front office incapable of improving multiple areas of the team at a time? The stats suggest it's closer to objective.
24. Is he really pitching all that well? Other than Liriano, who's a complete disaster, Gray is the worst member of the pen and has the track record to back it up going forward. This season is done, he has no future here, give the innings to someone else.
