  1. Man oh man, RB, you ARE a little "frisque" tonight, are you not?
  2. Are we really going there...already???
  3. Hey "sympathy props" and "golf claps" are sometimes considered trolling in these here parts nowadays... you just leave "The Frisco Kid" be....
  4. ...Making Rob Antony look like a veritable genius....
  5. As a change of pace, couldn't you just start calling him "The Frisco Kid"?:shoot:
  6. Portrait of intersecting careers headed in the exact opposite directions: Batting numbers for May: Hicks: OBP .250 ISO .276 K% 25 Dunn: OBP .247 ISO .244 K% 40
  7. Did you draw their names out of a hat? Or just pick the best hitter and the worst hitter from Rochester and call it even?
  8. Irrelevant to your original, incorrect, point.
  9. Don't remind me. No need for any Gold Glove SS around here when we have excess plus-plus, no-bat defensive catchers and willing to play for around the minimum salary---and the chance to market the "Twins Way" in Japan by signing a guy, who to this day, no one in the org. has confessed to seeing in advance----and the chance to dump the Gold Glove SS in favor of acquiring a relief-pitching, straight-ball throwing, career minor league failure--ahh,, silly me!---it's all in the "evaluation"....
  10. But you're not allowed to use the numbers to prove a negative. Only positively nebulous scouting evaluations count when the numbers don't.... "add up."
  11. Ouch! THAT...is going to leave a mark...
  12. Everyone knows that two is better than one! I get why you don't see this...it's math, not philosophy:roll:
  13. Exactly. Dave himself would be the first to say (and has posted) that Dozier is not a legit choice for a major league 2nd baseman's job long-term, to further that thought, his career batting numbers don't support him batting 2nd long-term.
  14. Unfortunately, as the sample grows larger, Dozier will inevitably regress and prove to be a poor long-term option batting 2nd in front of Mauer. Hopefully, Gardy has learned from the past and will juggle the lineup before he has another 2 week stretch of Hick-like production from the top of the order. Shaking it up is a decent strategy in the short-term, but Mauer is the perfect choice in the 2-hole over the long-term.
  15. You're not allowed to speculate, unless you put a Dr. in front of your moniker.
  16. Please show your numbers, or the Twins' numbers on the defensive side that demonstrate that your/their perception of Butera has a "basis in reality." The only thing substantive you've proffered thus far- his defensive prowess has "been reputed." Need more, so I'll wait.
  17. I can't recall for sure, but didn't certain folks tell us that without a medical degree, we were simply not allowed to either "wonder", "worry" or speculate why a guy who went on the DL for a concussion, is just now finding out: 1)either his calf hasn't healed properly since late February- or, 2) that he has mysteriously injured the other calf while rehabbing....? Since I don't have my medical license current, I will abide by the strictures..... I won't wonder, worry or speculate... but can I at least be curious?
  18. While it's been encouraging to see Hicks do a little better in May, the April disaster makes his recent performance somewhat illusory. His K% for the month is 25%, only slightly down from 31% in April. His BB% has dropped somewhat alarmingly, to only 5.4%, from the April number of 13.3%--- which at the time, became the main rallying point for keeping him up. What you have in Hicks's May numbers at the plate is a slightly better Adam Dunn (Hicks May OBP of .250 vs. Dunn's .247////Hicks May ISO .276 vs. Dunn's .244).
  19. + 1 Book it, no need for him to start the season on the 25-man, what with Liriano gone and Deduno hurt...... but you can't hope to stop the LPW from his rightful bench seat forever, SOS will soon be back for some personal Deduno caddying.
  20. And the metrics are all there in black and white that verify the historicity....! The Twins Way--- learn to like it!
  21. In which case, "temporary replacement" would have been the correct phraseology... of course, the fact that Hermann hasn't played CF (for all of 11 games- and this is the sum total for his entire career!) since 2010 in A ball, doesn't make Hermann as the obvious choice for CF replacement, all the more curiouser.... and that when called up, he goes in to his first game, not as the RF, but as a Catcher...
  22. I'm not sure why you're opposing what is obvious so much. First off, you are using "final standings" as your measure, which I never did. My criteria for my point was crystal clear-I pointed out that the Twins have a good chance at winning more games than last year because of the good draw of weak interleague teams on their schedule and the fact that they play 6 "instead of" games against last year's worst team, which is currently playing .280 baseball, as opposed to 6 games against clearly superior AL comp. This is simply common sense. This is not to minimizing the timing of when you play a team as also a key factor. You pointed out the Twins winning the series in Fenway. The Twins were fortunate to catch the Sox in right in the midde of a bad 2-9 stretch and coming off of being swept on the road by the Rangers, and shorthanded. Of course, the Sox got back in the saddle and are 10-5 since that bad patch- and swept the Twins on the road. Tonight and this week are perfect examples of what I was referring to. The Twins were absolutely reeling and in crash mode after playing some better teams. What better tonic to getting well quick and getting out of their tailspin than playing the 2nd worst NL team, with a .373 winning record? These are the kind of more winnable games on the schedule that will serve to give the club a reasonable shot at 75 wins instead of last year's 66.
  23. Can I be the first to say that it would sure be alot of fun having this Brewers team on the schedule for 19 games instead of 4?
  24. I've already given the mods a heads-up...
