  1. I'm surprised no one has commented on Heyman's scout's comment concerning the Twins slow-play on Sano- who is ridiculously leading his League in OPS by over 200 points: "The scout said Sano has been at High A Ft. Myers too long and implied he's wasting his time there. "Get him out," he said of the slugger who's hitting .343 with 13 homers and 41 RBI."
  2. July 31st deadline deal would be the answer to my prayer.
  3. Glad to hear. Needless to say, he has performed tremendously in his mostly low-leverage situations. He's exceeded my expectations with flying colors. I remain in doubt if they will give him a fair chance to stick this time around- but situations change- I hope he hangs in there- a great story.
  4. Red Wings. Yikes. How is it physically possible to get 8 hits, 12 WALKS, 1 HBP and only 3 runs? 21 baserunners, 3 of whom were thrown out with the help of OF assists, combined with 4 DPs. Worely clearly still with work to work on. He gave up 4 Doubles and a HR to a lousy AAA team- Double Yikes.
  5. I thought Caleb Thielbar deserved some praise, but assuming that didn't happen, it's likely because he's about to be sent back to Rochester. Interesting stats from the radio, Correia leads the league in first inning HRs allowed and runs scored.
  6. Bird, bird, bird...you got yourself in too deep on this one. How about we compare Marcum's and Correia's numbers for May/June?--- since that's the topic of the thread---and---very important and relevant, since Marcum missed most of ST and is just now getting fully healthy and stretched out. Correia 6.09 ERA/ 4.81 FIP/ 1.60 WHIP/ .351 OBA/ 3.62 K*9/ 2.20 K*BB Marcum 5.35 ERA/ 3.23 FIP/ 1.25 WHIP/ .268 OBA/ 8.15 K*9/ 4.57 K*BB The trend is clearly Marcum's friend- and it's not even close, and don't forget, Correia backed out of pitching against Detroit last Saturday, or these comp numbers for him could easily be worse
  7. Just saw the other thread. Don't dare say one word about Bonderman vs. the Twins.
  8. I'm willing to shoulder some of the blame. This is....inexplicable....
  9. So...based on today's results with Harang thus far, we should then expect a Bonderman "Quality Start"? How fortunate have the Twins been this year in missing the opposition's ace from series to series?
  10. Not Rochester....correct score, transposed teams...
  11. Apparently that was/is in doubt- waived by Twins....
  12. I think there were/are some doubters. AA numbers in 2012: .184/.268/.305/.572.
  13. No, you're not alone. I gotta think Bryant will be the BPA by #4. The risks in taking him are way lower for the organization---and---he potentially takes over almost immediately in the lineup, in the hole left by Willingham's imminent departure. I think the combined strategy of signing legitimately talented FA SPs and trading for established minor league talent is the best way for this organization to go.
  14. Because Willingham has a lifetime .1053 OPS against Harang. You're right though, this is the game of the series where the Twins could get 10 or more runs (Doumit has a .1091 career OPS, too).
  15. I think this is significant. Despite what many on this board have dismissed what actually was yet another Twin advantage when they were down after consecutive last place finishes- ie, "Who cares anyway about claiming someone nobody wants for the 25th man on your roster?"- Constant scanning of the waiver wire can yield helpful pieces to build towards solutions. Guys given an opportunity can sometimes take advantage of the change in scenery and be motivated to focus on their big chance and/or make the necessary changes in their games that have held them back previously. Florimon has always appeared to be talented, just seemed to have lacked the ability to keep his focus for a sustained level of performance necessary for a starting MLB SS. This looks like one the Twins scored on- and demonstrates in real time why you must look to acquire talent from every possible means of acquisition.
  16. This is a bit of an over-reaction bordering on needless panic. In point of fact, he has actually pitched 54.2 innings, not 44.2. Further, his FIP still resides at 2.80- which is good for 5th in the Eastern League- his ridiculously good K/9 rate is also ranked 5th in the EL. And his current BABIP is very high relative to his career number (.325) , indicating a touch of bad luck and a somewhat porous New Britain defense- virtually bereft of ML prospects (Cats defense ranks 10th in the 12-team league). Are EL power hitters squaring up on him? No way, he has a very impressive HR/9 of 0.33- which ranks 4th in the EL. It can only be said that he has had 3 poor outings in his 10 starts; let's be a little patient while he struggles at times, a 6'9" pitcher with his live arm is going to have growing pains.
  17. I'm guessing like .001% of TD participants have a clue what your reference is...(unless...did they repeat that line in the awful series remake? I couldn't bring myself to watching it).
  18. Since Shane apparently took the night off, let me confirm that this definitely appears to be the best move all around.....Frisco is now 5-1 since the "Kid" moved into CF for them. Oh, he hit another HR tonight (4th in 6 games), and now sports an .1167 SLG and a .1643 OPS for Frisco in 6 games played.
  19. Nick, your response was the equivalent of "Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain." As my comment was neither blind or scapegoating, nor did it make me feel better, I suggest you try again. I believe it was you, yourself just several posts ago on this very thread, who wondered aloud if this calf injury is a recurrence from his February one..... therefore, aren't we all a little curious at this strange turn of events?
  20. Held out of several games last week as punishment for lack of focus and hustle in-game.
  21. ....who are still somehow considered "young" by some, when they are, in fact, 4 months shy of age 26? Vance Worley is all of ONE MONTH OLDER than Gibson, and he is in his 4th year of major league ball.
  22. Baby steps better than baby crawl...I'll take any incremental advancement in their thinking over the previous status quo....
  23. My tongue was firmly planted in cheek... "Frisco" is simply one more trifling Twins FO bemusement in yet another lonnnng season. Oh... BTW, the "Kid" is now 2 for 2 tonite.
  24. Wheww... abrupt thread trend reversal!
  25. Example please of who put their freak on? He's been below the low expectations based on his career example, he's clearly catching up to his potential, slowly but surely, not sure who's disputing that set of facts.
