  1. Methinks Ryan would have come up with sumpin' to stretch out that timeline.
  2. Somehow, I don't think we are talking about the same concepts here, diehard.
  3. Yup. And it's not like everyone is Johnny-Come-Lately on this. His numbers/age/injury history screamed SELL to many of us last offseason.
  4. The Santana fiasco should put you in the penalty box for all-time, and he was still a senior advisor to the team during the Smith years. I'm sure he took a few phone calls for "advice", at minimum.
  5. Willingham quickly comes to mind.
  6. Executives of the Year generally are aware of this concept, right?
  7. It seems like the camp on TD that keeps nominating TR for Executive of the Year might acknowledge this glaring blind spot in his resume.
  8. There is no need for feeling you have to eat any crow on this. The main reason so many were angry with the Correia acquisition was that it clearly didn't match with the words of the GM leading up to the signing. The Twins pretended that a 5th starter from another team was now being tabbed as- not just "a pretty darn good pitcher", but as the FA signing season progressed and the FO sat on its collective hands- the new "ace" of the staff. You are justified in your uncomfortable feelings about counting on him, despite his innings per start status, he has only gone into the 7th inning 4 times in May and June over 9 starts, and only once completed 7 innings. Let's face it, his season record is largely a mirage based on a good early season start and pitching a significant number of games against the dregs of the league- In May and June he has only faced 2 teams who are in the top half of baseball's best hitting teams (Boston and Cleveland- and the Indians were without some of their key players)- for the season, 7 of his 14 starts have been against teams in the bottom quartile in hitting- and yet his ERA for May and June is 5.02, compared to 2.23 in April.
  9. While I don't agree that TR should be fired over this, if true, this is not any little thing.
  10. Who are these "many" that supposedly "believe" this? Great claims require greater evidence. Links please. I find it curious that you don't find it odd that such a rare commodity- an actual, real-life, truly game-changing impact-talent phenom, ala Harper, Trout, Machado ( I would wager that all 3 were monitored closely and in-person by their GMs during their developmental phases)- hasn't yet been seen in person by the GM in a regular season game. It does explain a lot about the Twins promotion process and about the uncritical defenders who quickly produce their autonomic defensive responses (Your ally, howie has now invoked "Executive of the Year" twice in 2 days). While Thrylos went a little overboard, as this clearly is not a fireable offense, it does confirm what many professionals have observed, the Twins don't really know what they have in Sano and Buxton or how to most effectively fast-track their careers to best help the franchise sooner rather than later.
  11. While I fully endorse the posturing going on right now by the FO regarding Correia's supposed non-trade status, Parker and Oxtung have nailed it completely. You have a 32 year old pitcher, with a checkered career past (a career ERA of 4.50 with rapidly declining K-rates!), with unsustainably 2013 career-best BB and Strand rates, with FIP and tERA that suggest he should eventually be giving up 1-1.35 more runs/9 innings--- who is, right now, at his absolute top value. And regarding the Carl Pavano comp- unlike Correia, Carl actually did pick the ball up every 5th day no matter who the Twins were playing and he gave you 200-222 innings, something Correia has never done.
  12. And alas, I suppose that a pot roast is just a pot roast, too....
  13. All some of us can say at this point, without any glee or enjoyment of that fact is: "See....Told you so." Sano having to spend an entire season in Siberia....oops, I mean Beloit, should have been the proof. Very familiar and disappointing developments, yet again.
  14. And of course, besides his insipid repeated pablum on consistency, don't forget that Ryan insidiously undercut Gibson yet again with his Albers-maybe-first comment.
  15. Suddenly the OPS is now up to .760, with 8 BB and 8 K. Not so bad a start after all. I'd still like to see Kennys Vargas join him as one more bat behind him in New Britain.
  16. ,,,,against lefty pitchers, anyways.
  17. Don't disagree with him or you, it's just that we all have a tendency to get too high on a guy when he's hot and too low when he's not. The problem is Dozier at the plate is cold a lot more than he's hot and tends to be major tease during those hot times. I fell for that last year, but now, with a year's worth of stats under his belt, I don't think the Twins or Dozier should think that because of his hot June, that this is now a long-term relationship.
  18. If I didn't know better, this sure sounds like sock puppet theatre. I know you're not one, but some of your posts surely could have been produced at One Twins Way. Having said that, I'm guessing that your "witnessing a master at work" line shows you simply aspire to satire. I'm grateful that there are differences of opinions. If you are in fact, serious in your admonition, I'd be most interested in hearing the reasons and scenario you see that will play out your prediction. I'd also like to hear why you take such issue with those who don't see the need to have to wait until 2018 for Ryan to make himself worthy of the award.
  19. The problem with riding a nag like Walters is eventually you end up broken down and stranded....alone and naked....in a hotel in Bismarck...
  20. I promise to be very tolerant of your right not to have to read things you have no interest in. And thanks, be assured that I will enjoy beating up on the Indians tonight. Same goes back to you.
  21. Uhh, you did? Goldilocks/"just right" ... it was you who opened this can of lentil soup..... they do seem to go together....like steak and fries, beans and franks, sage and thyme..... Using further metaphor deconstruction, re: your Gibson Pot Roast, are you now declaring that I too should plan to kill the fatted calf in anticipation of the celebratory feast to mark the return of the prodigal prospect come Sunday night?
  22. You're certainly entitled to skipping over the topic of discussion. America is a great country that way.
  23. Overreacting? Hardly. This thread curiously echoes the threads on Gibson and Sano. Your side keeps coming up with more admonitions to be patient, wait for more consistency to develop, defensive liabilities that need to be addressed, et al, ad infinitum.....blech! "Just a week or two won't make a difference" becomes a recurring pattern and theme, it was used in April, May and now, it looks like, June, as well. As has been stated elsewhere, similarly talented guys in other organizations are promoted on their own timeline, not a cookie cutter approach that appears to be the extent of the Twins thinking here. This guy is a very, very rare legitimate 5-tool, major-league-ready defender. He has been compared, not just by me, but by the reams of professional scouts, managers, pundits and evaluators, to the very best who play the game now, and the very best of all time. So again, who is overreacting here? The defenders of the FO of any move they make with their stultified promotion process?, or the statistical facts and video evidence presented in this thread, alongside the multitudes of outside, unbiased professionals who have tabbed both Sano, and now, even more so, Buxton as very special players deserving of being on a much faster track to the majors, alongside similarly talented peers who have made the jump from other organizations? As far as CF organizational depth, you are probably the only person left who would still have Morales come to mind, Kepler probably ends up in a corner spot, and oh, we have already mentioned Buxton, why did you mention him again? So really, there's just Hicks and Buxton, and the jury is still out on Hicks. Given the rate of Buxton's current progression and the Twins history, sometime in 2016 is probably the absolute earliest that we can expect Buxton to become ensconced in the Twins' CF spot. When you consider how other organizations have handled such elite-level talent, it's really laughable to contemplate that likely reality for Buxton.
  24. Frankly, I'm out of "thyme" waiting for Gibbie's call-up... and I tire of the "sage" advice about admonitions for waiting for more "consistency" from you guys in the Goldilocks crowd who trust that TR is slowplaying the promotion in order to make Gibson "just right.":o
