  1. This player represents the kind of need, and this is the kind of deal, that will prove if the Twins are going for it or not....Kab is right, he's better than May right now, and potentially better than almost everyone else on this staff, for that matter. To play you have to pay. The 2 team options for 2016 and 17 are actually an enhancer to making this deal, not a deterrent.
  2. Not sure how you can say that "it's certainly" with certainty.
  3. If there is a restriction on the number of appearances a player can make in the Futures game, may I suggest you take up the issue with Terry Ryan, as he's the source of the information I posted?
  4. Thanks for the legwork BB/RP.
  5. Here's the Twins lineup from May 7: Dozier 2B Fuld CF Plouffe 3B Colabello 1B (RIP) Kubel RF (RIP) Suzuki C Pinto DH Escobar LF (hmmmm ... ) Florimon SS (RIP) Here's tonight's lineup: 1. Danny Santana (S) CF 2. Brian Dozier ® 2B 3. Joe Mauer (L) 1B 4. Josh Willingham ® LF 5. Oswaldo Arcia (L) RF 6. Kendrys Morales (S) DH 7. Trevor Plouffe ® 3B 8. Kurt Suzuki ® C 9. Eduardo Escobar (S) SS No doubt about it, the Twins have come a long way in one short month. Look at the enormous qualitative difference in the 6-9 spots. If Mauer can just start being Mauer again, I think the Twins are on to something good here.
  6. Yes indeed. "Quandry for the Day" solved in one BP session.
  7. Nice piece, Pseudo. And since I agree with practically all of your conclusions, you're obviously on to something, here.
  8. The near-future is now. LOL, re "TD imposters" Insane Clown Posse.
  9. Except you just had nice things to say about Gibson and the potential young arms....baby steps to positivity...I'll take it. And haven't even reacted yet to Hughes, thus far.
  10. Oswaldo swings a lot more, makes contact a lot less. He'd be wise to watch and listen to Kendrys, perhaps make him a role model....and hey, what do you know, they literally speak the same language.
  11. Besides the print media, there was speculation on the broadcast yesterday that the signing and necessarily immediate rostering of Morales could be problematic, as it might leave Gardy shorthanded during the "acclimation period, which could last up to 10 days or more.....maybe to be used as a pinch hitter in the meantime...etc, etc."
  12. 1. Danny Santana (S) CF 2. Brian Dozier ® 2B 3. Joe Mauer (L) 1B 4. Josh Willingham ® LF 5. Oswaldo Arcia (L) RF 6. Kendrys Morales (S) DH 7. Trevor Plouffe ® 3B 8. Kurt Suzuki ® C 9. Eduardo Escobar (S) SS Guess all that talk about a 10-day slow transition period for Kendrys was a bit premature.
  13. "One source indicates that the Super Two cutoff deadline is likely to be around June 10..." http://www.mlbdailydish.com/2014/6/3/5776330/cotillos-latest-samardzija-mccarthy-shields-polanco-singleton-trade-mlb-baseball-deadline The other problem is it seems the Twins FO has their heart set on feting their top prospects at the Futures Game.
  14. John Jay would be costly, but you'd be getting almost 2.5 years of team control, and at least in theory, he could be dealt in a similar trade at this same time next year should Buxton prove ready to come up. It sounds like the the Cubans could be signed by early July. There is speculation that both would quickly move right to their major league signing club. At least one of them sounds like his bat plays in the corners.
  15. Can Twins Fan From Afar be certain to have this above tacked onto Kennys' locker, if it hasn't been already? (translated into Spanish, of course, with a dart board face of Klaw): https://roadto90.wordpress.com/2011/04/
  16. Abso-tively. I would like to think this indication of aggressiveness means the Twins even consider a Midwest League appearance before season-end if Nick kills it. That gets him with Mauer and Watkins for their evaluation and a to-do list as a jumping off point going into Winter Ball.
  17. More spilt water under a bridge too far.... At least the sense of urgency has reached all the way to ownership, according to TR, he called Jim Pohlad 10 days ago on starting a negotiation with "Mr Boras", the toughest SOB agent out there, and Mr Pohlad didn't even a bat an eye before he said, "Get her done!:"
  18. FA CF are the 2 Cubans. John Jay's name has been floated in the media if/when the Cards deem him expendable
  19. And maybe another mini-haul for Suzuki.
  20. ...slowly...inexorably...the mighty leviathan gave way to a positive thought about the prospects for Twins pitching...
  21. Pretty fair assessment.....and don't get me started on this year's draft....
  22. "Probably"? Hey, no doubt....but better late than never.
  23. What tobi said: It ain't the way I would have done it, but I still don't see how they are harming the future to the point of your drawing a picture of Apocalypse Now- Kansas City 2.0.
  24. And Rajai Davis, and Ervin Santana.
