  1. I'd more resemble Carol than Gardy . But no, I don't blame all of the losses on the players and I thought your original question was a good one. I'm willing to wait and see if Gardenhire ever actually uses Pinto to DH or pinch hit -- at this point, his words saying he will don't mean much to me. But it is still impossible for me to ignore 0-12 from Dozier, Mauer and Willingham.
  2. But therein lies the story of yesterday's game. The failures weren't on the fringes. The failures were with the players the Twins were counting on. While I have faith that Mauer will eventually get his game going, I have to see proof of a Dozier return to last year's form, Willingham and Kubel returns to something better than 2013 and a breakthrough from Arcia. One game does not a season make and it could all be reversed tomorrow with the fringes doing badly and the heart doing well -- the question is whether they ever get it together so that all parts of the line-up function with some competence. It's been a long time since we've seen that.
  3. Bingo. Of the AB's yesterday, I thought Florimon's were pretty good. (I can't say that about some others). I was actually surprised when they pulled him. If they had only been down by 1, would he have stayed in???
  4. As one of the women posting here, I can tell you that most of the references to "boobs" or "t*tt*es" don't bother me much. Female sports fans have to have a lot thicker shell than that or they'll never last. And face it, guys have that part of anatomy, too (Seinfeld, anyone?) But I do keep in mind that we can have some pretty young posters here so that is one reason to keep language modified (although many of them use words that are worse than a lot of their elders). I had a real problem with "Grand Drunk Railroad". I get that it was a play on Grand Funk Railroad but while I have no problem with people talking about drinking, especially in game threads, the idea of "Drunk" being a goal is very problematic for me. And having it as part of a TD-sponsored event was very disappointing to me. Especially given the statistics on alcohol use and problems at sporting events.
  5. Brock, Thanks for all you do to keep this site up and functioning well. In our excitement over the content, it is easy to forget that the content doesn't matter if the site is a pain in the *** to use!
  6. Are the Twins just being odd or are they taking taxes into account or something???? Other than the Pirates with the "bargain" price of $39, everybody else's price ends in a 0 or 5 but the Twins price theirs at $209??? (And I vote with Pius Jefferson on this one. To me, it's stupid.)
  7. I love the Collabello story but my favorite is probably Aaron Hicks mostly because I want to see if he can rebound from last year's adversity. But ask again at the AS break because a new favorite may have emerged.
  8. Great story. What really strikes me, though, is what your parents were willing to do to help you and your friends create and play a new game. Nobody gets there alone.
  9. In general the "young guys" came through with help from the newcomer. But that hole in the middle of the line-up is gaping. Let's hope it heals itself quickly.
  10. Why does every Twins fly ball sound like it will be a HR when described by Dick Bremer?
  11. And your RBI leader .... Suzuki
  12. Plouffe benefiting from the wind there. Like I said earlier, picks up likes it has been here all day, it could be really interesting.
  13. Okay, Dozier. Let's show that the young (er) ones can lead them.
  14. Florimon did his job there. Good for him.
  15. This doesn't cheer me up: Dustin Morse ‏@Twins_morsecode 3m The #MNTwins are 24-29 all-time in season openers & looking for their first Opening Day win since 2008. But its time to BREAK THE STREAK
  16. And remember that for Twins Trivia: 1st hit of 2104? CC rakes!
  17. Why Baseball? http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2014/03/30/the-timeless-beauty-of-baseball.html There are reasons why some people are paid to write. I wish I had Mike Barnicle's turn of phrase.
  18. Spewing all over my computer screen.
  19. Jim Crikket and I have had a few conversations about this. Even a lot of the cable companies don't offer all of the teams for which Iowa is "home". It's just a really screwed up situation (which JC would like Bud Selig to correct). With Dish, it works well for me because I don't end up paying for anything extra and still get to see a pretty good variety. But Dish is definitely not the answer for everyone (but Dish has been a better option on all programming than our lone cable option). Hope you find a good streaming option.
  20. OOPS!! must have been a sequel to "Platoon" Got that, Gardy? Try using a Platoon and the Twins just might move to Major League!
  21. In Iowa, we are the "home market" for: Twins Royals White Sox Cardinals Brewers Cubs It's why I've never bothered with mlb.tv. I get all of those teams' games in my regular Dish package plus what's on espn, mlb network and various other channels from time-to-time. It's enough baseball coverage for me.
