  1. It's a shame the wolves couldn't get Hoiberg, hopefully the Bulls managent does something stupid and lets him go in a couple years so he can coach up a wiggins and more team eventually.
  2. I would like to revise my grade from an A+ to an A+++.
  3. I think Escobar is fine as a Util and stop gap at SS, the prob is when you are wasting him in LF and DH where you literally have two guys who can post .150- .200 more in ops then him with Vargas and pinto in AAA. The Punto thing was interesting, I loved Punto as the UTIL guy and could live with him at SS, but it was frustrating to see him as the starting 3B ( a position that you should have someone with pop playing) Escobar in LF/DH is even more upsetting IMO as you could easily toss in a AAAA type like Colabello, Jones, etc etc the twins have had and get much more production. Plus as mentioned they have pinto and Vargas who would both put up better DH numbers guaranteed
  4. It rarely happens, but you can trade players on the DL
  5. After the double header tomorrow it's an easy fix IMO: DFA Stauffer Send down Santana send down Hermann Call up: Vargas Pinto polanco Start Polanco at SS (If he can stick), move Escobar to Util, and have Vargas be the regular DH. Give pinto 2 starts a week at catcher and one at DH. Eventually figure out a way to Trade some scrub to Atlanta so we can put Graham in AAA for a bit and call up Oliveros
  6. Arguably has already cost the Twins multiple games. Should be 12 games above .500 at this point, not 10 games and losing 1-0 games. Escobar has zero business DHing on a 95 loss team, the fact he is doing it on a "competitive team" is a complete disaster. Free Vargas Free Pinto
  7. Perfect example tonight of why having Suzuki in the 5 hole is a recipe for disaster.
  8. A huge reason why the twins are 11 above 500 is because they have won all but one game when leading after 6. (The royals were able to outplay their projections last year because of similar numbers) If the twins want this success this season to continue they will need these leads to continue to stand, especially since the rotation, while solid isn't exactly full of guys going 7 or 8 strong innings night in and night out.boyer and co have been awesome so far, but the chances they keep up this is very very small, which is why adding a premium (it doesn't even have to be chapman) 8th inning guy is very key IMO. Would a stud SS or Ace pitcher impact more? Of course, but those asking prices will be out of this world. If the twins can snag chapman without having to give up buxton, sano, berrios, Stewart, Gordon or Kepler I think you have to do it, even if you have to give 2-3 solid pieces like a polanco, arcia, Thorpe etc
  9. Uh.... The Reds would 100% without any doubt would take Sano or Buxton for Chapman.
  10. 15.3 k/9 in a "down year" is something I will take all day! His h/9 is way up because of an unlucky .391 BABIP, and I like our prospects as much as anyone, but the reality is there is maybe 2 or 3 RP in the MAJORS right now who are as 90% as effective as Chapman, we have one in Perkins but we know how rare that is. Saying Tonkin could be a 90% Chapman is almost as disingenuous as stating that Arcia could be 90% of a Giancarlo Stanton etc.
  11. I think you are overvaluing Arcia significantly, there is a very real chance that within 12 months Arcia is the odd man out in the OF/DH rotation. I think Buxton and Rosario almost certainly pass him, and if Hicks can even find a way to bat medicorely his defense puts him above him as well IMHO. That doesn't even include Sano/Mauer if one of them moves to the OF. And DH has Sano/Vargas/Pinto as options as well. I like Arcia, but if the Reds wanted him as a center piece I think TR (and a lot of us here) would say yes immediately.
  12. I would do that in a heartbeat, but not sure the Reds would. He is under team control for this year and next.
  13. What would it take to get Aroldis? I would be fine including anyone not named Buxton/Sano at this point. If the Twins are still "in it" at the deadline, I would LOVE to see them go the Royals route and try to build an elite bullpen, Chapman would be an absolutely fantastic start, with him in the 8th, and Perkins in the 9th the Twins would be a shutdown team potentially, if Meyer could dominate in the 7th and Boyer/Fien/etc fill in as well? Wow.
  14. People I wish would show up at Twinsdaily power rankings: 1. Trolpo 2. RichardMcBeef 3. AJ 4. Itstimetotakeit 5. Justanotherfan 6.Ofx 7. Fro 8. A-Wan 9. JoeDillonFan 10. Spam Bot TBD 90001. Klobs 900002. Statfreak
  15. Deleting a rally monkey thread? For shame Mods, for SHAME.
  16. The "holding leads" part is the one that concerns me the most, I am still hesitant to declare Boyer a season long 8th inning guy, if Meyer could step up (or Oliveros) it would go along ways IMHO.
  17. "Drew Butera is showing me how to hit" Aaron Hicks
  18. April 1st: SVD: I think the Twins will have 30 wins by June 1st. Brock: LOL Dave, put down the crack pipe, Twins suck they will have 10 wins at most. Who is the crack smoker now BROCK??!?!
  19. I'm surprised the show runners manged to pull off 50 minutes of television with not even a rape! Good work guys!
  20. Yeah I am a much bigger fan of K%
  21. What? Actually thinking he will be good is very realistic. The majority of guys who get busted for PEDs come back strong. Cruz and Braun come to mind as two of the most recent ones.
  22. Well when you have a 1.643 WHIP you certainly are getting the opportunity to face more batters and thus "strike more out". Hughes has the same K rate in his career as Nolasco (all of it in the AL btw vs Nolasco being in the NL) and a much better BB rate, not sure how you are saying Hughes doesn't have the ks anymore when his whole career dictates that the number will surely rise back up. The fact is Nolasco is a #5 type pitcher at this point, and the Twins have plenty of younger/better/cheaper options to fill in the back end of a rotation. And before someone points to Nolasco being "unlucky" and his FIP this year, it should be noted that in 1500+ career IP his career ERA is 70 points higher then his career FIP, which indicates that Nolasco is probably just a very hittable pitcher.
  23. Not true. With Santana coming back you now have 7 pitchers for 5 spots, if you trade Nolasco you still have 6 pitchers for 5 spots: Hughes, Santana, May, Gibson, Pelfrey, Milone. And that doesn't even include guys like Dean and Berrios who could help out ASAP in 2015 and guys like Hu, Meyer, Duffy, Rogers who could help out in late 2015 or 2016.
  24. They seemed to be fine with doing that with Nishioka (put him in the minors and call it a sunk cost) obviously this is more money, I'm sure TR wouldn't have an issue with it, the Pohlads might be the ones who do, but then again, I'm sure the Pohlads like seeing people in the stands as well.
  25. Personally at the end of the day some people like myself would rather nitpick and debate about who should be hitting #1 in the lineup vs #2 in the lineup and who should be the everyday SS (light hearted and at the end of the day meaningless things) then debate about politics, the middle east, gas prices, religions etc etc If it truly bothers you so much that someone is being a little negative (honestly, if you think this board qualifies as negative I don't think you have ever been to another internet forum ever) I can't imagine how much it must bother you when someone takes an opposite approach on an important stance you hold. *by you I mean "someone" not you personally.
