  1. And yet they continued to bring back the Mike Pelfrey, Jason Kubel, Tim Stauffer, and Torii Hunters of the world...
  2. 2 years/12 million is NOT a big contract. People act like we would have had to shell out 50 million for a RP which isn't even close to the case.
  3. "Hey Jay, do you mind if I call you Jay? Yeah, so this is a little awkward, Mr. Pohlad has a cap on "entertainment/business" dinners at $45 a head, do you mind picking up the rest?"
  4. But they were competitive last year....one would think now would be a good time to get into that payroll range if they actually were ever serious about it (methinks they were not, and were just lying to the good folks of Minnesota...wouldn't be the first time)
  5. Mike Yeo delivers yet another one of his patented motivational speeches during the 2nd intermission. http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/simpsons/images/c/cc/Mighty_Pigs_Members.jpg
  6. Oh Look, its a Twinsnorth49 blog post! http://www.simpsonseh.com/images/episodepics/FABF16_4.png
  7. Checking in with Devin Dubnyk and our friends at Wild Extra. http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q124/cdnuniguy/Blog%20Stuff/milhousegoalie.gif
  8. "We are losing money here! We need a new stadium and you fine taxpayers to float us the money for it, PLEASE!"- Pohlad+DSP
  9. Yeah, it's pretty laughable to think at anytime in the 90's and 2000's Pohlad was actually LOSING money on the team. HAHAHAHA
  10. Yeah, I don't think anyone has said they shouldn't make money, in fact, they could still make a ton of money AND help the team compete by loosening up the purse strings ever so gently. Instead once again some folks who don't agree with this try to get on a high horse with some silly "Well its their business what they shouldn't make money?" nonsense. They could raise payroll 10% and still be making plenty of bank. (Not to mention the fact that the value of the club goes up each and every year anyways....) Just think of how much money the Pohlads would have missed out on if Carl and Buds scheme to contract went through!
  11. Can we please sticky this topic? It's a shame it went a few weeks without update
  12. This is borderline trolling since you are for some reason making it about me instead of the topic at hand. There is nothing wrong with hoping the teams that you like compete for championships, and wishing that there would be some changes in leadership that would help the team compete for a championship. If I was a Patriots fan and was complaining about Belicheck and ownership today, then perhaps I would see where you could almost make this point. The Twins haven't been to the championship in 25 years, they have only been sorta "close" once in that time. It's not being "disgusted" it's wanting them to do better.
  13. I acknowledged that the majority of owners don't care about the fans. As far as supporting the franchise? Give me a break, I support the Twins who are a lot bigger than any one player, one coach or one owner. Ziggy Wilf is a terrible human, as is Adrian Peterson, that doesn't mean I'm gonna stop rooting for/supporting the Vikings. I love my MacBook Air and my iPhone, but that doesn't change my opinion that Steve Jobs was by and large not a good human. You can LIKE something while still finding something you wish was different/improved. The "well if you don't like them, why do you root for them" is a tired argument that has no place in the "real" world. I do agree that real change would come with a change at GM...but the Pohlads have already said that Ryan is the Twins GM until he doesn't want to be it anymore.
  14. This. Times a lot. While expenses probably change a bit, they don't go up 50% in that scenario not even close, maybe some owners would reinvest 50% of that in BASEBALL OPERATIONS, but the Pohlads? Yeah, I will believe it when I see it. I don't understand why some people will jump through numerous mental hoops to defend the Pohlads, the Pohlads DO NOT CARE about Minnesota, they DO NOT CARE about the fans, if they cared at all about the fans/state/city they wouldn't have actively worked in secret to contract the team back in 2001 making $150 million in the process, they wouldn't have tried to move the team to North Carolina in the late 90's. The Pohlads care about money, just like they have since the family made their money foreclosing on families farms during the great depression. Most owners don't care much at all about the fans, the Pohlads are in that category. Of course this is their right, they own the team/business, they can do what they want with it. I just don't understand how people can just blindly support them and all their (lack) of moves.

  23. Pictured: Dave St Peter hopes that the Pohlads will approve his expense report.
  24. Yeah, the Pohlads are raking in the cash every year. Which is fine, but don't strong arm the city/state to make them pay for your stadium when that money could be used in much better areas: schools, substance abuse help, welfare, etc
  25. They have only gone "big" once on one of their own guys (Mauer) every other top guy they developed they have let walk away: Santana, Morneau, Hunter, etc
