  1. I agree that we still don't have an "Ace,", and Arroyo wouldn't be that guy. However, it certainly is better than a whole group of #4 and #5's and AAAA guys. With Arroyo, the Twins rotation would be competent at least, and a second place finish in the division is not out of the question....
  2. If the Phillies are not eating any of the salary, I would give up Gibson, who will be under team control for numerous years and a couple of non top 10 prospects. I only up the ante if they kick in salary. Can't have it both ways.
  3. I would love to see Hicks in CF and Hammer DHing a bunch. Helps our pitchers immensely and keeps Hammer's body in better shape to hopefully increase his trade value.
  4. It's been very quiet on the Garza front. With all the crazy news, I have hardly seen him mentioned. Would it be out of the realm of possibility that the Twins sign Garza? They have plenty of $$ to work with this year. I am guessing it will take around $15 million a season to get him. After this year, the Twins have Willingham, Correia and Doumit, and maybe Duensing off the books and will be replaced by relatively cheap talent. The team got added TV revenue to more than offset this investment. If we aren't getting another catcher, why not go after him? He just turned 30 years old. It sounded like Gardy didn't want to trade Garza in the first place when Bill Smith made that boneheaded move. Having Garza, Hughes, Nolasco, Meyer as the top four in the rotation for the next three years will be very formidable. Hey, why not, I never thought we'd make a big splash anyways, so why not go all in?
  5. So you're saying his cluelessness equals Drew Butera territory? I would take a flyer, he should be cheap and then we can turn our attention towards another starter, like Garza (in my dreams)
  6. Arencibia could work as a cheaper alternative to Salty so we can go after Garza.
  7. Just got Kinsler, so Cano seems out.
  8. These acquisitions are legitimate ML starters instead of running AAAA guys out there. An ERA of around 4 would be a legitimate upgrade.
  9. What the heck is Terry going to do at the Winter Meetings?
  10. According to LEN, 3 years $24 million Also said working on bringing AJ back into the mix
  11. I'd flip for Garza also, but could live with Arroyo or Kazmir, along with adding Salty.
  12. My guess is that we overpaid, however, that is what it's going to take to get these guys here. This signing will probably start the dominoes falling on the other pitchers. I'd love to get another arm and Salty. Then see if we can maybe trade. Texas would seem like a good place for Hammer since Murphy and Cruz likely not back for one of their young arms.
  13. Ugh, if we sign him, no trading Pinto for pitching. Don't want him
  14. Love the trade for Texas. Gives Profar a spot and puts a stop in their hole at 1st. Detroit needs the $$$ to sign Scherzer and Nathan
  15. Only a DH at this point, makes no sense
  16. Does this mean Joe plays 1st? Pinto and Hermann catching?
  17. What did you expect, Ned Coletti isn't the GM.
  18. I agree wholeheartedly that money should not be the issue. I would lean towards giving him a qualifying offer and then try to sign him to a two year deal
  19. Great to see the hard work pay off for this young man
  20. There is certainly hope on the pitching horizon just not hitters. I am really getting excited for the next two years to see what we are made of. We should have tons of salary room with all of these youngsters to shore up a few areas.
  21. Wouldn't the Red Sox be the only destination possible for Perkins now? I guess the Yankees could use him as a setup man and then replace Rivera with Perk next year. However, the Yankees farm system pitchers have been hit by the injury bug and wouldn't be able to match up with the Twins.
  22. I'd like to see what the Yanks would give us for Plouffe and let Romero see what he can do at this level. I like Bernier as the Jamey Carroll replacement although Escobar will probably be that going forward. Also hoping that Albers can get a chance if the Twins move a pitcher.
  23. I think it's time
  24. It's organizational philosophy, TK sure hated on Francona bunting last night, and it didn't work in the end
