  11. Every day the Twins win is a good day!
  12. Morneau was finally starting to come around with the bat in mid-April before he began dealing with soreness in his surgically-repaired left wrist. While he eventually required a stint on the disabled list, he returned as soon as he was eligible Wednesday and doubled in a win over the Tigers. For what it's worth, Morneau has told Twins manager Ron Gardenhire that he would rather play first base than serve as the designated hitter. His injury history is still a major red flag, but perhaps he's finally feeling healthy.
  13. Ryan Doumit (calf) is expected only to be available as a pinch-hitter for the weekend series against the Brewers. Not surprising. It had looked like Doumit was headed for the disabled list, but the Twins have decided to hold off. He's not ready to start just yet but thinks he'll be available for DH duty starting next Tuesday. "Best-case scenario is ... I'll be ready to DH or do something like that [Tuesday], the first game in Chicago, so that's what I'm hoping for," Doumit said. Source: Minneapolis Star-Tribune

  15. How bad is Doumit? Will he play this weekend?
  16. Keith Law of ESPN.com reports that the Padres have designated Orlando Hudson for assignment. The Padres have yet to make an official announcement, but the writing has been on the wall for a while now. Hudson has batted just .238/.313/.344 since joining the Padres and the recently-acquired Alexi Amarista lingers as an alternative in the minor leagues. The Padres would still be responsible for the remainder of Hudson's $5.5 million salary this year and his $2 million buyout in 2013, so the 34-year-old shouldn't have any trouble drawing interest at the major league minimum. Stay tuned. Source: Keith Law on Twitter
  17. Twins sweep hehehe.......
  18. The Twins did not place Ryan Doumit on the 15-day disabled list. It was announced late Wednesday night that Doumit was being made inactive, but there was a change of plans Thursday morning. Nick Blackburn is going on the DL instead with a strained left quad. Doumit is day-to-day after suffering a left calf strain in Wednesday's defeat of the Tigers. Source: Minneapolis Star-Tribune
  19. Crazy talk, dream on!
  20. Nick Blackburn was battling a sore left quad throughout his start Wednesday night against the Tigers. Blackburn wound up allowing six earned runs in just two innings to Detroit. The Twins can skip his next turn in the rotation because of an off day in their schedule and seem likely to do just that. The 30-year-old righty has an 8.37 ERA and 1.77 WHIP in seven starts this season. Source: Minneapolis Star-Tribune
  21. Twins placed C Ryan Doumit on the 15-day disabled list with a right calf strain. Douit suffered the injury during Wednesday's victory over the Tigers. He is likely to need around three weeks of recovery time, meaning Drew Butera should be much more active than usual for the rest of May. Doumit is batting .264/.328/.445 with five home runs and 24 RBI in 33 games this year.
