  1. Good at-bat for Kirilloff as well. Not so much for Julien and Buxton. Marsh up over sixty pitches.
  2. That's a bad number for Buxton with RiSP.
  3. I predict overall better plate appearances the second time through for the Twins.
  4. So much for first inning struggles for López.
  5. I don’t see a reasonable scenario to trade Kepler for anything that will help the club now.
  6. Happy Birthday to Jorge Polanco. He is the big 3-0 today.
  7. Solano is very range-limited and has only an average arm. This is a very leaky infield regardless of whether Solano or Miranda is at third as long as Julien is at second.
  8. He reached safely eight times in a row. At least a couple of those were walks or HBP and one of the hits was a jam shot that didn't get out of the infield. You can count me among the Wallner doubters, as well. The K-rate is high and the team already fans at a record pace. As far as how the players at AAA are hitting, it wouldn't shock me if Larnach was recalled before they would bring up Wallner. Kepler is on a nice run right now. Maybe he can keep it up for a while. I still don't want him on the club next year.
  9. No Miranda. Three games is a pretty short leash, but Miranda hasn't done much to inspire confidence. Michael A is also out. I presume if the Twins have the lead late, there will be a flurry of defensive replacements.
  10. When the season started, there were lots of comments about not having a true #1 and I think that still might be the case, However, they have four guys pitching in the #2-3 range (counting Ober) and Maeda and Varland and Mahle all gave some good starts. The bullpen isn't deep, but when Stewart was healthy, they had three shutdown guys for the end of the game. Hopefully, someone can get healthy or effective (Moran or López) to provide a bit more depth. I don't know if the Minnesota Twins ever allowed the fewest runs in MLB, but that is where they are right now. It isn't fluky--they have good WHIP, strikeout, walk, and hits numbers--and the club has experienced their share of injuries to the staff. This is why I do have a little trouble thinking there should be firings. Pitching is supposed to be between 60 and 75 of the game and the Twins pitching has been at the top.
  11. I found this list on the internet. The article actually listed 30 players, but here are the Top Ten. No ex-Twins were named. Can anyone think of a current or former Twin who should be on the list? 10. Tony Phillips 9. Rick Porcello 8. Wes Parker 7. Eric Karros 6. Carlos Carrasco 5. John Denny 4. Kyle Hendricks 3. Danny Darwin 2. Kirk Gibson 1. Tim Salmon I know Gibson won an MVP and Porcello won a Cy Young, so these players had some pretty good years.
  12. I guess Castro/Farmer is as good as they can do while not having a defensive black hole at third base.
  13. Agreed. Willi Castro has played very good defense at third and in the few instances when he has played second. The problem is, even with the added value he supplies as a base runner, Will Castro isn't a good enough hitter that he should be getting platoon at-bats at third or an outfield corner. He's got a .692 OPS (92 OPS+) in over 230 plate appearances. Really good for a versatile utility guy, not so much for a regular (or near-regular) third baseman. Willi has shown he is a major leaguer. He is a better fit as a utility player than Nick Gordon, but this year hasn't propelled him to where he should be given consideration as a starter (unless he improves enough on defense in center field).
  14. Another comparatively low K day. Better hitting w/ RISP, two strikes and going the other way. Correa has gotten more hits to right in five days than he had in two months. Buxton has hit a lot of balls hard, today a medium grounder found a hole and he beat out a slow roller.
  15. Mr. Maeda is doing quite well in his return from the IL. The rotation has been so good. Maybe the offense will carry their weight in the second half.
  16. Maybe this club is finally rolling. I'll withhold judgment until after the Orioles series.
  17. All in all, a successful return for López.
  18. Buckle up. It might get bumpy here in the ninth.
  19. Don't ruin this low-K day by having three in your last ups.
  20. I'm on the López for the ninth bandwagon.
