    It seems to me the Twins have been seeing more than their share of LHP of late. Two of three lefties vs. Washington, one of three vs. Texas, two of four vs. KC and now one of two (so far) against the Astros. That’s six of the last twelve. Add in pinch hitting as soon as the fifth inning and the young lefties aren’t getting much time at the plate.

    KC is losing to SD (big) and Cleveland beat Washington. Interesting schedule note--Cleveland played only one team with a winning record in the month of May (the Twins). and finished the month 19-9,

    Lots of good at-bats, but the Twins only got six hits. While just about every hit was important, I think the Miranda plate appearance might have been the turning point. He took the starch out of Blanco and got a walk. Correa followed with and RBI double and Kirilloff with a sac fly. It wasn't comfortable until later, but it is always good to play with the lead.

    Willi is fine at second, He had played more second base than anywhere before he came to the Twins. He hasn't played second much for the Twins because of the personnel they have. Depending on who if off the team when Lewis returns, he may be asked to play there more.

    The Astros have the top team batting average in MLB, but are scoring fewer runs per game than the Twins. Houston has a considerably higher OPS than the Twins, but they aren't outscoring them.

    Dean and Jerry back together? They had such good chemistry on stage.

    Disagree Brian. Kirilloff has hardly played first base and Miranda can handle that load. We have had the situation a couple times where a lefty bat sat against a right handed pitcher (Larnach), AK was at DH, with Castro in left and Buxton in center. Larnach has thus far outhit Kirilloff and if one of the lefty bats isn’t playing against righties, they have to be excess. I think replacing Santana against right handers can be done by Miranda since he has a higher OPS vs. right handed pitching than either Santana or Kirilloff.

    Promoting isn’t the same as rehabbing. I personally think Lewis won’t be back until they play New York in the Bronx.

    I really don't think the Twins want to send anyone down. That's why injury and even going with 12 pitchers (and some staff juggling) seems the most likely option. Kirilloff, Larnach and particularly Miranda have had moments in the last week to ten days. Julien picked up three hits in the recently ended series with KC and has definitely improved his defense.

    Here is my frustration--I want to present topics in long form sometimes and I've thought a blog entry would be the appropriate forum. Then they get no play unless that blog is featured on other pages. An example, though I didn't write it, is the Miranda thread that was originally a blog entry by @LA VIkes Fan.

    Pablo's FIP is much more representative than his ERA (3.80 FIP, 5.25 ERA). It seems he is great until a big inning happens. There are several pitchers with large discrepancies between ERA and FIP. Okert and Durán have gotten "lucky", while Thielbar, Sands, López, Ober have suffered bad luck according to FIP.

    IIRC, Varland's first start was in Yankee Stadium. He did pretty well. It isn't optimum, but it might not be a bad idea. I think giving Paddack a break might be the right move. Since his eight inning start in Cleveland, he has struggled although the results having been that bad.
