    I've never been a big Dodgers or Royals fan, in fact my SoCal relatives turned me totally off of the Dodgers years ago. But this season, I think it would be hilarious if they met in the World Series, given all the lecturing we were reading earlier in the season about how a) paying a lot for free agents doesn't even lead to much success, and the Royals' trade of a top prospect for some established pitching was foolish. Baseball is much too complex for pat answers like those.

    Welp, heading out tomorrow for a road trip, leading to Seattle to see the Twins series with my younger son. Won't have much internet connectivity so I won't post, but during the games I'll be thinking of you all. / and groaning, of course
