    If not doing the September callup is harming prospects' development, this would be a good topic for the next collective bargaining agreement negotiation, although that is quite far away yet. Maybe the number of days' service for arbitration etc should be bumped upward by 30 days or so, in exchange for some other consideration.

    Long ago I was watching a national broadcast where they made the mistake of live-miking Tommy Lasorda in an extra innings game in LA. After they scored in the top of the inning, Tommy uttered something similar to what you said but even less appropriate for a teevee audience. Oops. A dumb idea from the outset.

    Right. So it's ~200 PA for each of these splits - and at those volumes of opportunities you can still occasionally see head-scratchers like this. Little things like the mix of lefties and righties in the road games could play a role for instance. Today's early game moved him in the right direction FWIW.
