    Your backup C possibly sufferred an injury today, and you're goin into a NL park with only 4 total bench players & you call up a starter who wont be used for 6 days & debating that is considered whining!!! WOW Bringin up Butera was just a snarky remark on Ryan as the catcher to call up in such a circumstance is obviously Hermann.....figured a majority would get that wasnt a serious request. If we are to ONLY give positive remarks to every topic, please let us know

    Depends on what the errors were......defense is no longer judged (correctly that is) by errors. Official scoring is absolutely horrendous these days.

    Everyone wants this move BUT they could've waited on this & used a position player for 4 days....esp in MIA for 2. As much as I hate Drew Butera, they could've used him for 4 days in case Doumit's ankle is stiff or so they can use the other C as a PH Classic Twins front office

    The move is easy.... First demote Pedro immediately & do one of 2 things!!! Activate Wilkin Ramirez from rehab & have an extra player. You can then start Kyle on TUE in AAA & have him go 50-70 pitches & be ready to go on SAT. You then get 4 games with an extra position player. The other....start Kyle on TUE on his normal day & move every starter back a day....or go Correia on Tue & Gibson on Wed w/Diamond moved back to THUR.....easy moves. Will be interesting tho as Aaron Hicks starts his rehab on TUE. Their isnt a move that MN wants to make, so will they wait the week or so on Aaron & option him??? Will they actually release/DFA Wilkin Ramirez or option out Escobar or a 13th P. IF a P, who goes as all RP have a legit arguement to stay (IMO they want Thielbar to get give up some runs to make it him).

    This is a perfect time/league to get Pinto some time at 1B with nobody but Reynaldo Rodriguez but the organization seemingly always waits on certain players to try new position. He is NOT blocked by Chris Hermann, who is basically playing LF. He is blocked by Drew Butera!!! There is a lil over 2 months left in minor league season....perfect amount of time for Pinto to get some AAA experience before his Sept recall. This kind of thinking for MN doesnt happen tho. They seem to keep their prospects in AA too long & then after recalling them, say the reason they dont succeed is their lack of AAA experience (Parm/Benson/Hermann/Hicks the latest examples). They already have Danny Lehman FAKING an injury to get Butera playing time for what some say is to trade him ......funniest thing ever said on this site!!!!! Get rid of Drew & get Josmil up to AAA.

    IMO, the real criticism is Ryan's quote that Albers is next in line. If he doesnt offer that up AND this is a one day promotion for Hernandez, their isnt as much complaining. I havent gotten a good explanation for all the head games that Ryan is playing with Gibson. He wasnt available for today, so thats fine....but he should be up for his next start without being screwed with.

    Twins/Ryan played their hand today that Albers is NOT next in line & isnt a serious contender for this staff as it woulda been an easy transaction. Why he offerred that comment to 'tweak' Gibson is still baffling.

    As long as this is a one day promotion for Hernandez, this isnt a killer. Replace him with a player for MIA (WRamirez?? as they didnt have any idea what to do with him). Gibson was scheduled for TUE or WED in ROC. MN isnt smart enough to bump back a couple starters to get Gibson on his scheduled date & will use that as the excuse why its not him. The move SHOULD be Hernandez today, demoted after game for Gibson who starts TUE in Miami with other pitcher pushed back a day & start again with Correia Wed & Diamond Thur, but they wont cause this is Terry Ryan.

    Willingham Arcia Parmellee Morneau Doumit Mauer There are 6 players who all have a right to play fulltime but only 5 positions. I put this on Gardy to find a way to get ALL of them the playing time needed, but this is not his strong suit as a manager. I would prefer Doumit to go back to being a fulltime backup C, but he has gotten into Gardy's good graces & isnt gonna be the one to lose time.

    The Gibson situation is just one of many things that has made this Twins season maddening & kind of unfun to watch. I cant get into any Pelfrey start & just hope every game he gets drilled just so they will finally move onto the inevitable Gibson recall.

    Pelfrey's not in the Twins plans for 2014 in any way, shape or form. They are holding onto him only to get as much usage of his $4m ...thats it. I thought all of last year that Diamond was a mirage & this year just cements my belief. How long do you hold onto a guy who pitched well the year before??

    DFA Hendricks to add Onto an to 40 man Call him up for the 13th P or Parm or Escobar Start him in LF w/ Willy DHing & Arcia to RF After Hicks returns, they can semi platoon as Richardson's #s vs rhp are amazing

    I bring up payroll as much as anyone, but its not spending to spend....its how/whom they spend it on. It would also make fans more leniant if for example....they save 30m this yr on payroll but once they got better, they'ld spend THAT money to put them over. For me, I get somewhat bitter on payroll ONLY cause Terry Ryan has NEVER spent money & he prefers the cheap ways of the Metrodome (or so it seems). Im not saying Annibal Sanchez signings, but not Mike Pelfrey, Jason Marquis, Ramon Ortiz, Sidney Ponson types every time a pitcher is signed or dipping into AAA for Sam Deduno, PJ Walters types. Sign a legit pitcher to a smaller yr bigger contract just once in a while.

    All things considered, you really have to keep him. His versatility, contract status, power potential vs lefties are all things you/every team can use. I still view him as a quasi-everyday player filling in at different position IF Sano gets here earlier than many think. He's looked solid enough in limited OF time last yr to get by as well as 2B. Not fulltime, but as the lineup dictates.

    Adrian Gonzalez Paul Goldschmidt Anthony Rizzo Allen Craig Joey Votto Ryan Howard Freddie Freeman Adam LaRoche Mitch Moreland Albert Pujols Prince Fielder Carlos Santana Chris Davis Edwin Encarnacion Mike Napoli I said below average offensive first basemen (that is argueable for what you decipher that to be). So here are 15 that are above him IMO only IF he was a fulltime first baseman. Sure, some of these guys havent put up numbers over a long haul, but Joe's numbers this year are gonna be career highs (some including 09). His greatest value is at catcher & always will be. First base is too difficult of a hitting position to put him at unless he hits for power/drives in runs(which arent his strong suits).

    His numbers are so amazing that despite bein a 29 year old retread, I cannot see how this team cannot give him some kind of a shot...esp with the leadoff problems they've had. This is an incredibly slow, base to base type team & they could severely use a infusuion of speed. Just dont know anything about his defense.
