  1. I haven't read all of the previous comments, so apologies in advance if I'm repeating what others have said. I'm more than ready for an electronic strike zone. Especially in a shortened season like this one, every at bat is magnified in importance. The number of indefensible balls and strikes calls has been appalling. I found myself amused, supportive, and horrified all at the same time over what Donaldson did. I regret that he did it, but I totally understand why he did so. Ideally it will end up lighting a fire under this team.
  2. I'd still be loving the Bosox struggles, but the attempted sabotage makes the love a bit stronger. Maeda has been terrific.
  3. I don't see a lot of mandatories on Randy's to-do list. If he just keeps doing what he's doing and continues tweaking his stuff, he'll be fine far into the future. I see him as one of our 2 or 3 most reliable starters for the next ten years. Assuming continued good health, which I'll happily wish him here.
  4. Not a lineup I expected to see this year. Oh well, wrack the Royals. Beat them like a drum. Sergio pitching just to stay fresh, not because he's needed as a closer. Bring the brooms, Twins.
  5. Sorry you had to write about this game, Patrick. Yuck. Hard to watch. I can't imagine summoning the energy to revisit all the excruciating details. I do think we'll see Tortuga. I wouldn't mind seeing Duran get the call as well. Both moves might inject some life into this club.
  6. Dan Hayes of The Athletic says the Royals have a reputation for being whiners. That's what we saw on display yesterday. Hope our nine can shut them down -- and up -- again tonight. Unleash the kraken!
  7. I'd like Rooker but expect to see Astudillo before him. Doesn't Rooker have first base experience also? That along with his right-handedness, AAA experience, and 40-man roster considerations (see rdehring above) argue for him over the others -- as much as I'm looking forward to seeing all of them get a shot soon.
  8. That lineup is a thing of beauty. Finally, the gang's all here. Bombas away!
  9. I absolutely love that Win Probability Chart and hope to see many more like it in the weeks to come. Great write-up, Nate. I must say that "low-stress debut" does not map to that top photo. Are you sure that's not Scotty in Star Trek giving it everything he's got? Aye, the haggis is in the fire now for sure.
  10. Done. For what it's worth, longtime Twins fan Aaron Gleeman simulated the Twins' entire 2020 schedule in Out Of The Park and had the Twins winning the Series without a good year from Odo. Of course, it's only a simulation. But he also had Cruz as Series MVP, and that seems like a pretty sound projection three games in I want to see Bailey and Hill pitch before I begin to worry. I like what Dobnak, Thorpe, and Duran have to offer and like what I saw from Maeda today. Berrios did not look sharp Friday, but it was just one start. Gleeman also had the Twins picking up Corey Kluber at the trade deadline and being a stud down the stretch. Worst case scenario, we look to add someone like him (or him) a month from now. Not cheap, I know, but the window is open. This is our year. (Knock on wood.) Hopefully Odorizzi is OK and it's just a momentary setback. If not, next man up. We have several good young pitchers ready to prove themselves.
