  1. Wow........even.....funnier.......
  2. Is that really a serious question? Good God no (that's a serious answer).
  3. Your article would be more aptly name,"Should" Aaron Hicks be an Opening Day starter? Could? I suppose Should? No
  4. The same people will snark about the Twins being idiots for letting Blackburn go if he pitches well elsewhere. No true,at least for me. If he pitches well somewhere else so be it, right now there is simply no good reason for the Twins to believe that will happen and very little chance it does.
  5. I wouldn't be surprised, I'd be flat out shocked.
  6. The only thing that can possibly help Blackburn is arm replacement surgery.
  7. Honestly, I've always felt that Gardy doesn't play backups enough. It was painful to watch Parmelee rot on the bench. Casilla could have played more in my opinion(It's ok Chief... Just a little more). I thnk Hughes and Burroughs were thrown away(maybe they should have been) with no playing time to prove themselves while Danny V. Meekly played 3B every day. I don't want the same lineup everyday. Even star players slump. Even .220 hitters get hot. You miss out on Descalso while you wait for Granderson to turn it around. Over the course of 162 games... You have a roster of 25. Use them all. if Revere is going through a tough stretch. It's Ok to play Mastro for a while. Competition is created in such ways. Its an eye of the beholder thing. I honestly feel that Gardy needs to use his bench more and in different ways but still think he's a good manager overall. there you admiting you have a problem is your 1st step to recovery ,( now as you hum the 3 blind mice song) always remember and never forget , the 3 stooges are not good at what they do , larry gardenhire was a good coach for tom kelly , twins win dispite larry being the manager curly , ryan was a good cross checking scout , he made 1 lucky trade in aj and has done nothing sence moe st pete , a media major (not even a real bean counter) did well selling broken kirby pucket bats , while running the souviner shop untill you realise where we could be with quality people steering the ship you will stay in denile ... good luck with your recovery Spell check is a great application, if someone could only come up with a "make sense" program, we'd all be able to understand Johnny.
  8. I disagree. I think something good can happen in the playoffs ONLY if you have good pitching. Not that good pitching guarantees playoff success (or even that you will get to the playoffs) but that you are pretty much doomed in the playoffs without it. And it isn't just good pitching ... I think Dombrowski is right that you need power pitching. Delmon has had a good post-season but I have absolutely no doubt that the Tigers are LED by Justin Verlander and Jose Miguel (Torres) Cabrera. I think he was wrong.
  9. Sounds like a few guys are a a little prickly about getting scooped by Thrylos!
  10. No point, it doesn't take into account differences in pitching, which when talking about the Twins rotation throws every park effect metric under the bus.
  11. Only a full season without Nick Blackburn will reveal the truth.
  12. He's got a minor league career ERA under 2.00 (this last season 1.24). He's averages over 12 Ks per 9IP (13.9 this year). He doesn't give up the long ball (1 HR allowed this year). The only knock on him is he walks a bit too many which is the kiss of death for a Twins prospect. People see numbers like that, they understandably ask why. I don't see why that's such a bad question. The argument is, if he was worth bringing up they would have? Why? Because the Twins have shown themselves to be great judges of pitching talent lately? He cleared waivers and wasn't selected as a Rule 5, apparently every other team is showing to have the same judgment as the Twins.
  13. I'm not trying to do that and I get it but there have been a lot of people over numerous threads that confidently state that he would be a reliable bullpen performer for any team that picked him up. Maybe, you're not one of them.
  14. Right, hmmmm, I wonder why? I did say he has earned the chance but my point is that I suspect the expectation of success a lot of people have is going to result in a lot of disappointment. No it's not ok to give Drew Butera a roster spot under any circumstances.
  15. Well, Spideyo did say that Ms. Sammon was interested in him, perhaps you're on to something here.
  16. Why is everybody so convinced of this, despite the fact a lot of pretty knowledgeable baseball people aren't? I get giving him a chance, he does deserve it, but all these proclamations of guaranteed success is a little presumptuous.
  17. See, now that's the problem with internet chat, I can't possibly tell if you're joking and I'm frightened you're not.
  18. Wow, there sure is a lot of stretching going on here. Just because they let a couple of people go in the Marketing dept. means they are expending most of their energy in that direction, as opposed to the team on the field? Can you walk and chew gum at the same time? Besides, Crikket is right, this has nothing to do with Ryan. I don't quite get how changing marketing personnel is an indication of how a team feels about it's chances in the near future.
  19. This thing was worth $6.95 ($7.09 CDN) just for the TR interview alone. Great job fellas, absolutely excellent, it's clear just how much work went into this when you look at the quality of the content and the layout. That font for the headers is pretty kooky though, JMO. Thanks!
  20. One could argue that since we preach pitch to contact, solid defense up the middle is imperative and would help our pitching immensely Ozzie Smith and Ryne Sandberg couldn't have saved that staff, save Diamond.
  21. Ok, crap was a bit harsh, I take it back, actually I enjoy most of what you write. Do you not think it's possible though, in the example you gave, that Ryan was merely just stating that he traded Castillo because he knew he wasn't going to re-sign him period and that he was just getting some return for him while he could? I think it could be interpreted that way and over the course of two interviews it just came out differently. Maybe his second statement had something to do with feeling his first statement embarrassed Minaya in some way, who knows.
  22. Seriously? Do you like having people you don't know and haven't had any interaction with call what you wrote a load of crap? Is that just normal polite talk where you come from? Calling people you don't know straight-up liars is polite talk? Ok, my apologies then, I concede.
  23. Isn't that what they just did? Having a number of guys that fall into this category every year is pretty common, don't you think? Some you find have real major league talent and most don't so you keep looking.
