  1. Why on earth would they do something like that?
  2. Pork knuckle........trust me.
  3. Or the ability to push through the pain of the Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.
  4. I don't think that's being said, I think the point is it's not just a Minnesota Twins culture issue that plays a part here, it's a pro baseball or pro sports culture that is the overall problem.
  5. 7-1 Germany over Brazil, simply stunning. A Brazilian player protest against the social injustices brought about by FIFA and the IOC? Rumours before the WC were some players had issues with Brazil as host. Or Germany was really good and Brazil desperately missed Silva and Neymar.
  6. I don't think anyone is necessarily getting hung up on the age of the place holders, to me it's more about how long they're needed and when the true talent is ready. I freely admit TR is a much better judge at that than I am, I'd just like to see some more movement in that direction.
  7. Oh I agree, the latter thought just depresses me more.
  8. Gardy, three catchers, no logic required.
  9. Whoa, whoa, whoa, there is a big difference between those prospects panning out and competing into their 30's and the 30 somethings they have now. You seem to be deliberately missing the over 30 crowd we have now are awful. If you're going to struggle and decide not to try and spend your way out of it, you might as well do it with something that could pay dividends in the future.
  10. I don't think a pitcher would throw that many extra pitches trying to get a feel down, most seem to be creatures of habit and that would be quite a break from their pre-game routine, and one that would certainly risk wearing them out. Many a crappy bullpen session has resulted in a good game.
  11. Better get your gag reflex ready.
  12. You have 3 groups listed here. Personally I think you're very wrong, the vast majority of members on this site care a great deal about the Twins and are comprised of a single group that are far more passionate and knowledgeable than the average fan. There are different ways to approach and express it but I believe virtually everyone on here wants the Twins to be competitive.
  13. For the record Diamond passed through waivers so ultimately choices had to be made on both. What would you have proposed they do with Mauer?
  14. Not a Rick Anderson fan, although it's ridiculous what a whipping boy he is for some around here. I have doubts that Worley's recent success is sustainable, his biggest mechanical flaw is that he's just not all that good.
  15. At this point the future is the only promising thing about this team. The ASG is a great showcase for TF and Minneapolis but other than Perk and Zuke it holds little appeal to me, although Dozier in the HR derby might be fun.
  16. That seems like an extraordinary amount of warm up pitches. Here's an article I read from a few years back, it's mostly about how the focus on pitch count has risen dramatically but further in it describes how that has altered the pre game warm ups of Cardinal pitchers. Dave Duncan reveals that they have cut the pitch count before games from a typical 75 down to 40 in order to help protect their pitchers. You would think that this mindset has further deepened over the years with the investment teams are now making with starting pitching. http://m.espn.go.com/mlb/story?storyId=4359938&src=desktop
  17. Whatever they return, there's a good chance it won't be any less than what these guys have left to contribute in any meaningful way. They have no business on the 2015 roster so it's time to turn them into something that even remotely could be.
  18. Neither does Florimon, they know what Florimon brings and at the plate it's nothing, for such a short stint they might as well expose Polanco to some major league pitching and see what they get. I'll take my chances with him in the field as opposed to Florimon at the plate.
  19. I think you fellows missed Ann B Davis of Brady Bunch fame.
  20. It was definitely a strange looking injury, you're right his inability to put much weight on it afterwards is concerning. It's pretty odd that it would be his ACL when he wasn't making any lateral, hard turns. ACL injuries are usually caused by hard cuts and starting and stopping quickly. Unless he had a minor tear to begin with.
