  1. Washington is cornering the market on pitchers that start with S
  2. A 3 way trade could also be considered. Include the Rays in the deal. Rays could get Dodgers offensive pieces and the Twins could get one of those Tampa Arms.
  3. Land a SP who will pair with Berrios or walk away.
  4. My sincere hope is: If Vargas out plays Mauer (and Plouffe) like he did in July. He won't be benched or sent down in favor of Plouffe and Mauer in August. No more playing who you think will do best. Instead I'd like to see them play the players who are ACTUALLY doing the best. Give Vargas a legit chance to earn a job. I have no idea if Vargas will be a MLB talent but I'd like to find out. I won't be very happy if he isn't given a legit chance.
  5. I would also be perfectly happy with a Year of Ben Revere and not just because that rhymes. His speed and defense has value and if he snapped back to the .300 hitter he was before. He could be a decent enough trade chip because he was a decent enough trade chip before. ' The players acquired for him in each of his trades were never anything to sneeze at. I'd pick up the phone
  6. This kind of brings home my point... when I stated that I wished the front office would have hired a POBO as soon as possible so Terry Ryan could be part of the evaluation. I have been disappointed with the results produced by Terry Ryan the GM and wanted the change... but his scouting background certainly must have value and that value could be serving the Twins right now instead. It's possible he was mis-cast and the POBO could have corrected that. I wish him nothing but the best.
  7. I think the question is legit and it fits the topic of this thread. My thoughts... I was never interested in catchers period. Not Enough Bang for a very large buck in my opinion. No matter my opinion on catchers... I will give the new guys every opportunity to complete the off season so I can look at it all in total. Ultimately... The pitching will be my primary personal interest. Thad Levine was talking about the Twins scouts and office staff and saying that the goal was to give them the tools to succeed and then evaluate them.I liked that statement as solid thinking. Maybe Castro fits that mold. Maybe Castro with his pitch framing will give the pitchers a better chance at succeeding for better evaluation. So... I Guess... I'm thinking it's possible that Castro as a priority will ultimately improve my primary interest... pitching... despite my previous lack of interest in catching.
  8. I'm not a huge pitch framing guy. I totally understand that a stolen strike here and there can be absolutely huge in a match up and depending on the situation... the game... but... I'm still not a huge pitch framing guy. If Castro is one of the top pitch framers in all of baseball and he just might be. Shouldn't it translate more obviously to Catcher ERA? If pitch framing is producing the results that people say. X Runs Saved... Shouldn't Castro have a better Catcher ERA than Evan Gattis does? Or does the higher CERA suggest that despite ungodly pitch framing skills he minimizes that important skill with poor game and pitch management? I wouldn't have spent money on the Catcher Position this year or any year for that matter but that's just my opinion and these are just questions that I have since pitch framing seems to be his best feature. . I still pledge open minded support for Derek and Thad no matter what I type here.
  9. Terry Ryan without a doubt. It was Terry Ryan who made the decision to not support the surprisingly successful 2015 Twins. Replacing Hunter with Park does not qualify as supporting a club that finally showed you a little something. Abad was not nearly enough bullpen support to say to the players... I have your back. It has to be Terry Ryan Besides... it is customary in businesses across America to always assign the most blame to the guy who is no longer there. That's just how it works.
  10. The Super Reliever has now been created. Smart Managers and General Managers had to take note. I'm glad Falvey was a part of it. Makes me think that the Twins could modernize a bit. Is May that guy? Could Be... but he has to pitch much much better first.
  11. That's right. I forgot Montas was moved in the Hill deal. It was what Bowden said In consideration of this development... I'm not as excited for this proposed deal.
  12. I'm not trying to start multiple trade Dozier threads but here goes anyway. I was listening to the MLB Channel on Sirius/XM and a Dodger fan called and asked what it would take to land Dozier. Bowden says "Deleon and Montas gets it done". I've never seen either of those two pitch but I've read nice stuff on both of them... So I like it.
  13. Kinda disappointed about Walker but I'v never seen him play so that disappointment isn't rooted in solid ground. I've no legs for standing on the issue. Trevor Plouffe I've seen play and he didn't earn the security. I sincerely wish him the best and I sincerely thank him for his efforts representing my team... THE MINNESOTA TWINS. No matter what... he was one of us.
  14. If you want maximum flip... Go after the bullpen arms. Every contending team is going to look at improving bullpens at the deadline. Go get Chapman... and then be willing to eat some salary at the deadline when teams come calling. After the Royals and Indians showed what they can do with a bullpen. Teams are gonna be thinking about stacking that pen from here on out. Bullpen is the rising baseball stock. Go after players like Hudson... Bullpen Arms who were once starters and could be again... like Drew Pomeranz. Get creative... stay away from the expensive average to below average starters on the market and load up that bullpen. Build it backwards
  15. Date August 24 2057 Dude next to me: Hey Riverbrian... Can you hear me? Riverbrian: Yes Dude next to me: Did you think it would be like this Riverbrian: Like what? Dude next to me: I don't know... Like this... Just kinda stuck in the ground like this for eternity. Nowhere to go... total darkness. Riverbrian: Yeah... This is what we get for not being Angels Fans
  16. Dodgers are the best fit Dozier would be a perfect addition to that club. Get Urias and throw in any non pitchers (not named Sano or Buxton) to make it happen. Throw in Rosario plus whoever if you have to. Talk loudly with the Giants and Nationals so the Dodgers hear you.
  17. With his speed... I'd hope for at least one or multiple years with 50 swipes providing he stays reasonably healthy for the year. If he can't reach the 50 SB level during a healthy season with projected increased OB. It would signify a lacking of the ability to learn and progress or... our coaching staff isn't very good at helping the process along or strategically stifling him. Nunez stole 40 this year... Buxton should be able to out-swipe Nunez.
  18. We took Dad out to supper one night. He was happy to spend time with us and hungry but the damn menu had prices on them and a Hamburger was 10 Bucks. Even though we were buying... Dad couldn't bring himself to do it and he refused to order and we ended up going to Burger King. Payroll jumped under Bill Smith and fell back down with the return of Ryan so I think you are right. No way of knowing but as DocBauer said... Actions speak louder than words. Terry Ryan just might be a Burger Kinger.
  19. I'd hope that would come out in the evaluation.
  20. Q How much does the baseball operations department need to be built? A Our instincts are that there are some great people here and that before we evaluate them we need to give them more resources to succeed. Maybe [the Twins] have been a little behind in the resources we’ve provided our people. Our first investment would be in systems and resources. Secondarily, we’ll evaluate the people once they’re given those resources. In my opinion... This is exactly the answer I was hoping for. I just wish the process would have started in May. Terry Ryan could have been part of that evaluation process. Better late than never... I guess
  21. Very Impressive Jimmer. I rarely know what Ash is saying. I usually nod my head up and down so it seems like I understand.
  22. Flood it Bring them in by the bunches and compete for the position. 2nd and 3rd place can set up. We don't just need a closer. We need a complete rebuild.
  23. Justin Morneau hit the majors in 2003... the first year of Ortiz in Boston. Morneau consideration certainly could have been part of the decision. Dougie M was the everyday 1st baseman. I remember it like it was 14 years ago.
  24. My Choice would be starting utility. He plays whatever position we need that day. Give him the chance to perform... Have an option ready in case he doesn't perform.
  25. If they like Chacin... go get him. If they think they can fix Latos... go get him. It's the Fister 4 year deal out of desperation that I think they should avoid. But if you go get Chacin or Latos or whoever. They compete for a job. Mr. Gibson... Meet Mr. Chacin...Meet Mr. Phelps... Good luck to the threee of ya
