  1. I do to. I think he is motivated to play well. He will be dialed in. Besides his play yesterday forced another start tonight which forced Gardy to play both Catchers and one at DH. That's a huge moment in our Twins development.
  2. lol... If you are not watching on ESPN... Don't switch over... Stay with the channel you are watching... The channel you are watching is working. Do not tempt the wrath of the whatever from high a top the thing.
  3. Yeah that Doumit speed was leaving a vapor trail... Ala the roadrunner from loony tunes. Meep meep..
  4. Bummer... He would have taken that bag.
  5. Keep the roll going... Send Clete... Let's see how he does.
  6. Stay with us. We still got the lead. But yeah...whatta catch. That's what speed in the OF does. Big moments when those catches are made.
  7. Thank You... It's all I wanted. To reach AAA was my primary goal and it took a lot of work. You can get there as well but be prepared for sacrifice and hardship. I've posted during the day and in the middle of the night... Sometimes while sleeping. I've posted while eating supper, I've posted at work, while showering, teacher parent confrences, during intimate moments and while serving as pallbearer for my Aunts funeral. I just want to say that those in the casket don't notice if the casket falls to the ground accidentally. Yet everyone else was acting like it was a horrible thing that I did.
  8. Fortunately... The decision doesn't have to be made right now. The team can sit back and assess before deciding next Thursday.
  9. So true... The Nationals are going for it and just might get there. Les Expos Joue comme une mauvaise Odeur!
  10. That one time must have been traumatic. Kinda like peeing on an electric fence. Something you only do once and remember for the rest of your life. Actually I did it twice. The first time by accident... The second time... The fence was on fire and I didn't have any water nearby. Don't tell me... I'm not a gamer.
  11. lol... It's Gardy's primary fear and here he is manning up to that fear and looking it straight in the eye. Tempting the wrath of whatever from high a top the thing. If Gardy has been a decent human being and has lived his life caring about his fellow man. Everything will be fine. However... If Gardy has kicked one puppy in the last year. His worst fears will be realized and this may be it. Just one puppy kicked or a fudge on his tax return and Doumit is doomed to a heater to his eyeball.
  12. AAA quality catchers can be Fed Exed overnight via airplane. They will come with a tracking number and everything. Drew Butera... He had a very unique skill. Very few players could turn an AL Team into a NL Team by hitting worse then Jamie Moyer. Drew was able to marginalize the DH position by hitting less then pitcher like from the Catcher position. Very impressive!!! I still marvel at that today.
  13. I remember... It drove the legendary 3B Dean Palmer out of baseball. However... In hindsight 2003 was a great year for my hated Tigers. That season delivered for them the 2nd pick overall which they used to draft Verlander. Look what's in store for our Twins. We're coming.
  14. I love Perfect analogies. High Five Cdog. I agree with asmus but the analogy is gold. I'd move Willingham to the 4 hole myself and I'd adjust the lineup up and down a lot over the course of a season in consideration of players on a roll and players not on a roll. Players get hot and they get cold... It's a streaky game and the #1 hitter as more PA's then #9 guy. And I would never bat Redmond in the three hole for lineup continuity sake. However, Gardenhire has won exactly 868 more games as a major league manager then I have. However he has also lost 761 more games then I have.
  15. McCarver was the only one I could fit in with my budget. The inflatables are in the yard... McCarver is brutal with kids... I had to draw them outside for their safety. If you don't like Geddy Lee... I question your Canadianess. I had no problem believing it before. You seem polite... You have a good sense of humor... There is a slight slur to your typing so I assume you are drinking constantly. If you don't like Burton Cummings or Gord Downie either I will be suspicious. Come to think of it... I don't recall any Eh's in your posts. Let me ask you this... If Canada can produce someone like Tie Domi, Bob Probert and Zenon Kenopka... Why doesn't Canada have a better military? ;)
  16. I think Sean Burroughs should remain on the team to serve as a reminder to Danny Velencia that he needs to avoid entitlement and complacency. I thinks Burroughs should room with Velencia on the road, they should take grounders together and be in the same BP rotation. I think Velencia should have a Burroughs shaped shadow on sunny days. If Velencia needs to go to the bathroom. When he opens up the stall door... Burroughs should be in there. If Velencia moves to the next stall over, Burroughs should be in that one as well.
  17. Every team will win 54 games and every team will lose 54 games. It's what you do with the other 54 games that matter. Therefore None of these games matter until we have lost our allotment of 54 games. Once that happens I will put my eye black on and swing my Homer Hankie around and get ready for Twins Baseball to be played. Right now I watch games on my couch in my typical american living room. Once the clock starts on those other 54 games that determine our fate, my living room with be themed with an artificially created playoff atmosphere. Crowd noise will be pumped in, Scalpers will patrol across the street, at least 3 vendors and Tim McCarver will move in and have his own spot for color analysis, inflatable games in the front yard and Geddy Lee will do the national anthem. (He actually sings OUR HOME AND NATIVE LAND OF THE FREE as the lyric and does this while playing bass, keyboards and foot pedals at the same time). I actually don't like his voice but he rocks it out. I've already hired artificial playoff atmosphere designers for that moment and contracted them for Mid June. It will cost me 347 dollars.
  18. When I was younger I used to spend my time worrying about much more important things. I spent a year of the prime of my life in the Swiss Alps as part of a special task force charged with mediating a peace agreement between the warring people of the Cantons of Valais and Ticino. They had a decade long dispute over control of the black nose sheep population and there was a serious threat of it going nuclear. I spent countless hours mediating stressful negotiations and attending political cheese parties where the cheese would make your face pucker in such a way that the delagates would think you were mocking them during conversation. We tried numerous stategies from pie charts displaying equal distubution of the sheep, to the introduction of more blue ox to balance each regions supply of valued resource, to building more strip clubs to increase overall happiness. Nothing worked and the only thing I gained from all that effort was the knowledge that yodeling is a poor form of communication. I find that discussing the finer points of Ben Revere and Clete Thomas much more to my liking at my advancing age.
  19. I once saw a 12 year old bunt. Foul the ball off into his shirt but didn't know it. He thought he got it down and not only did he run to first but ran right past his teammate(returning to first) all the way to 2b. He finally stopped when the ball fell out of his shirt near 2b. The SS picked up the ball and tagged him. The Ump was maybe 16 years old and had no idea what happened and called him out. I was the coach of the team in the field and I saw the whole thing. I was happy with the out because we were up by one in the final inning and didnt want to correct the ump because I was laughing too hard.
  20. lol... Don't misunderstand me. I do not like the sacrifice bunt. Never will unless you have Drew Butera at the plate... In that case... What the hey. I'm talking about using that world class speed of his, the left batters box and a pitcher falling off the mound. I'm talking about drawing the 3b in so it's easier to slap past. I think he could add that club to his bag. BTW... I love bad bunting stories. I've seen a ton. They are fun to watch.
  21. Cue the glass breaking SFX. Lol... I can't type the words "I may be crazy" unless I wanted a thesaurus type list of words that all mean "duh" from responding posters following.
  22. Im ok with Span... I think it's more of a Doumit thing. When Morneau became DH. Doumit needed a more consistent spot for his bat. RF became that spot. Im ok with one gap compromised because you can position your CF to accommodate. Compromise both gaps and your asking for your team to come from behind more often then you should because the CF cant cover for two corners slower afoot.
  23. This isn't a Vavra defense mind you but Ben was a rookie last year. He hit .260... He didn't get eaten alive like rookies do. He hit .260 and he swiped 34 bags. He has to walk more and drop down some bunts for hits so he has things to work on but he didn't get eaten alive. There is a pretty large number of current thriving MLB ballplayers who got eaten alive the first time round. The Ryan Braun rookie year isn't that common that we should be surprised when it doesn't happen. Facing Verlander is different then facing Vandenhurk.
  24. If the Twins are out of it at the deadline. They gotta go young and move anything of value or risk setting the franchise adrift for awhile. It's a canary in the coal mine season. If the team is in it... They will buy at the deadline because TR will know that they will need the boost and it won't be coming from the minors. Plus payroll was shaved this year and that money (or some of it) can be re invested back into the club if a reason to do that is exhibited. If the team isn't in it. You are coming off 99 loses and you have a weak farm at the major league ready level. The majority of your payroll is tied up in two players who couldn't carry you and have medical charts so extensive that they can no longer be lifted by just one nurse. In that scenario... Not selling everything of value to restock and possibly improve draft position at the same time would set the organization back and delay our glorious return to the top of the AL Central. This team can dance around the Doumit and Marquis type players all they want. The current state of the farm system needs the attention right now... specifically pitching. Its one thing to be a non contender for two years. To be a non contender for 10 will make the new target field seem over indulgent.
  25. His future is challenged for sure because perhaps the only strength of the farm system is OF. He has replacements scuffling and improving beneath him. However, not much above him in my opinion. His window kinda opened up prematurely. BTW... Ben has 3 tools. hit for average, defense and speed. Scouts can look for the true 5 tool guy but there are not very many around.
