  1. Watching Youklis hit makes me angry. Why would anyone ever try that and say I'm comfortable.
  2. LOL... You stretched my comment a bit and took it someplace I didn't intend. Rankings change from year to year. Stats change from year to year... Month to month. Baseball America will nail some prospects perfect from time to time and miss from time to time. So does every front office in the majors. Aaron Hicks had a rough time in Ft. Myers last year and people thought he was a miss. He's turning it around in Conneticut this year and now most people are excited that we have have a superstar again. The human element in baseball can't be reduced to a paragraph scouting report. Stats will not predict a player who finally puts it together. In the end... It's about getting a chance and making it happen when you get that chance. Let's give them a chance before we toss them aside. No reason to be pre maturely angry about these two kids acquired for a pitcher that didn't live up to expectation. They may not make it but let them put a uniform on . I mention Baseball America because BA and other Internet sources is where people are getting their information and using it to go nuts. I read BA and I read other scouting reports and I love looking at stats. I also realize that next year or next month or the next game can be different. The Twins chose these two over other offers. The Twins front office see something In them. Let's see what it is. It is possible that the Twins read BA as well and cross check that with info from their scouts in the field. Can we at least assume that the Twins front office is more informed than you and I. Since they get the Internet info we get... PLUS... Im not slamming BA... I'm slamming those who take the info and think that's all the info needed to hang the Front Office.
  3. The First Text That Day from my mother in law was... "What do you have planned for your anniversary?" I Meant to text "I'm taking her out... Someplace nice". "Taking" got changed to "Eating". She didn't respond back to that. My Favorite was the Taco Shells exchange... My Mother in Law was going to make Taco's for my Family. She was at the store and texted me "give me a count on how many taco shells are left". I texted back... Just one... That is your Count" The Autocorrect changed the word "count" Yes... I've made the wise move and stopped texting my Mother-in-Law going forward.
  4. lol... I love Autocorrect... The Consequences of it are something this world needed. My Mother In Law texted me asking how my Anniversary Date with my wife went. I replied... We had a nice Dinner and she said that I never show affection in Public so I had no choice but to "kill" her in the middle of the restaurant in front of everybody. When the Police arrived... I had to call for my wife to come home and show that she is indeed alive. She had to produce ID for them.
  5. Not Knocking Arcia... I'm getting excited about the kid... The Mariners need hitting but... They have been in a real dark place for a long time now. The light is at the end of the tunnel... King Felix and 3 Top line starters at AA... To trade any of those arms is kinda like taking a long journey to get somewhere and then taking a right turn for no reason just before you get there. If the Mariners are talking about Willingham... I'm guessing the Arms in return are Vargas or someone else.
  6. Fingers Crossed... Head bowed to the Sky... His production is looking fantastic thus far. The Twins will wait out a couple of months to delay the Arb Clock... and I will be waiting his presence on the Twins lineup card. I hope he keeps knocking it around until that moment because I'm starting to get jazzed.
  7. I'd make the deal but I'd be surprised if the Mariners gave up any of those 3 pitching prospects. They need to acquire hitting to time with the the arrival of those 3 arms. Not give up those arms to acquire the hitting. Trading those arms for Hitting would be like a cat chasing it's tail. It will spin the organization dizzy.
  8. I know... That's why I want another one. Watching Trout run around the bases for the Angels just wants me want another one more. It's been Awhile... The Twins need someone to come up and blow the doors off. This organization needs it. At least I need it. It's like someone closed down my baseball crack house. Pig... I know exactly what you are saying about 8 years ago... I remember the feeling... Watching every moment when he was in the game... The Future was here... The Real Deal J.D. Durbin coming up in 2004 was an exciting time.
  9. Ben... You read what I wrote and thought I was ripping Baseball America? I'm not... I read Baseball America... I'm ripping the people who read it and pretend they are armed with everything they need to know about a player and are now freaking out over the Liriano trade.
  10. I know... And that's exactly what I want. Is it too much to ask? ;)
  11. Brandon Wood was ranked third... Hermida was ranked 4th. Ryan Vogelsong was unranked. I don't care what the levels are. Wood and Hermida did not pan out and Vogelsong did later. Baseball America isn't gospel nor is the scouting departments of all 30 teams. Stats will tell you what they've done but not what they will be. Sometimes these kids just need an opportunity to shine or fail. A high ranking from Baseball America or the scouts just means that they will get a couple more chances to prove themselves. Baseball America knows more than I do but to read a report on someone written by someone else and using the information in that report to go into a tizzy over a couple of 23 year old players is... I won't say it. Let them put their stuff in a locker. Try on the uniform and let them go to work. My god... These guys are branded by a couple of paragraphs. You can't marginize baseball into a paragraph. As for Escobar reporting to AAA... I'm not sure what your point is but I believe that it's Doziers chance to earn the SS job. Casilla isn't going to Rochester and he has been playing a lot lately. Could be a showcase of sorts. Even money that Escobar is our Casilla next year. Casilla won't be back for 2013 most likely (im guessing) so maybe the Twins are shopping him for another player that will freak people out on this site. Carroll is 94 years old and well paid and under contract next year. He ain't going to Rochester. So I imagine that Escobar is in Rochester for at bats. Just a guess. The context of the Twins is different than the context of the White Sox.
  12. Did you consider the Tigers at all? The Tigers seemed to prefer Sanchez and Infante because that is who they traded for. I have no inside information... I'm just basing my comment on who the Tigers actually traded for.
  13. Is Baseball America 100% correct. Liriano was the 6th ranked prospect overall in 2006. Brandon Wood was #3 that year. Jeremy Hermida was #4. Ryan Braun was #49... #50 was McCutchen and Brian Anderson whoever that was was right behind at 51. Glen Perkins was #91 and Matt Kemp was #96. Seriously... Some of you guys have to stop reading these scouting reports and rankings that can be found online. Especially if you are using it as gospel and some form of personal knowledge and letting it fuel this freak out session over the Liriano trade. Maybe these guys will pan out... Maybe they won't... The same could be said about Brandon Wood in 2006. The Twins liked these guys so they traded for them. Lets see what happens. Let them at least find their new lockers in Rochester before losing it.
  14. Another thing on Vodkadave. I read his first post on the Liriano Trade... It was a What the hell post and we were all thinking that at first. I then read vodkadave subsequently reason the trade out as the thread moved on. He gets two points from me for that.
  15. Could be... Vodkadave is pretty smart. I'll take his posts seriously in case he actually is Terry Ryan. On the other side of the coin... Another thing to consider is that Terry Ryan kicked your puppy or something. lol. ;)
  16. That's making me nervous as well... The Market for leadoff hitters or OF'ers has been so dang slow to this point. Victorino and Span are both out there along with Pierre. Span has to bring a top shelf arm... If not... Let's keep him. Span isn't going anywhere unless the Twins send him away. No need to send him away unless we get something real decent in return.
  17. Here's what I did in my own head... I was pretty sure all along that Frankie had little value but I allowed myself to become hopeful that he had acquired some value because he strung some good starts together. I built up the expectation in my head because I was hopeful and I was reading his name in the rumor mill... Orioles scouting him... Angels scouting him... Blah Blah Blah... I think if some of you step back and look at it. A majority of you did the same thing. You allowed yourself to be hopeful for a nice return package. What happened in this deal was reality. No matter what anyone thinks of the return on Frankie. We got something and we were about to watch the clock expire on Frankie because he was not coming back for 2013 unless we sign him for a reasonable deal as a FA. I doubt the Twins want to go that direction but who knows. We got something and now it's up to these two new players to prove themselves going forward. If they don't... Well... They will be like the thousands of others who didn't make it but I'm willing to bet that the Twins like the chances of at least one of these guys. The Twins need to start fresh with Pitching next year and move forward. I'd like the moving forward part to go as quickly as possible but you can't force other teams to give you players because you want them. I've always believed that Span is the player that has the most value in a trade and I still do. Span is under control so TR doesn't have to move him at the trade deadline if the deal isn't right. If Span would have been traded to the White Sox for this pair... We could be a little more legimate in our indignation. Frankie is a pitcher that can help a team in a playoff run or he could take that team completely off the rails. Any team that traded for him was grasping at straws. Rolling the Dice... Flipping the Coin... If I was a GM.... I wouldn't give up a lot for a guy that can potentially kill your chances just as easy as he provides a boost. Frankie was gone in two months. Gone. We still have a couple more days of trade deadline. Hang on everyone.
  18. Now that I think about it. I wonder if Casilla or Carroll wasn't part of the trade discussion at some point. The White Sox are gonna need a backup SS now. It would make sense that Williams would at least inquire about them.
  19. He's gone after the season ends... The Twins just traded for his replacement.
  20. Kudos... Perfect line to describe the situation. It seems that no one likes their X mas present. The Twins were not going to offer him 12 million for the comp pick because he might take it. His trade value was about to hit the wall at the trade deadline. If no one offered a better package of players. You have to take the deal or you get nothing. And then we have a handful of starts in a Twins uniform(the farewell tour) on a team that isn't going to make the playoffs... Even if we score 30 runs this weekend against the Indians. With Span you can set the price high and keep him if the price isnt paid... With Morneau you can do the same because they are coming back. Under contract... It says so... With Willingham the same. Liriano was gone... There was almost no possibility of him playing for the Twins in 2013. Liriano wasn't going to be offered a contract next year. They can't spend that kind of money on someone who melts down as often as he has and believe me the Twins have had a front row seat for everyone of those meltdowns. I'm disappointed... I had dreams of a boatload of pitching prospects coming back but to be indignant over the deal is to assume that the Twins turned down something larger to make this trade. Does anyone believe that TR turned down Terehen and Delgado to make this deal instead. C'mon... can we give him the benefit of the doubt that he looked at what was out there and chose the best package.
  21. If Mauer goes to LF with this at bat. Someone is gonna blame Vavra for the hitters being late
  22. our lefty hitters are attacking left field... Love it.
