  1. Couldn't blame you if you did, but remember that Fenway is still a magnificent place to take in a ball game, even if the Twins stink like really stinky men, and also, that due to the Butterfly effect, those tickets you throw out the window could end up in the hands of Red Sox fans with a gift for heckling who end up making the Twins AAAA starter that day feel so bad that he collapses on the mound in a puddle of melted self-esteem, causing Terry Ryan to react with the panic move of signing Kyle Lohse to finish the season in the rotation. Totally up to you, but you might consider taking one for the team and just going to the game. Or else... Kyle Lohse. Just sayin'.
  2. This year, or over the next calendar year? If they're lights out next April, I could easily see 52 combined wins by May 17th 2017.
  3. It's starting to look like maybe the 'Good team playing poorly' theory from the pro-Ryan camp has sprung a bit of a leak... http://www.history.com/s3static/video-thumbnails/AETN-History_Prod/73/828/History_Speeches_6000_Eyewitness_Hindenberg_Disaster_still_624x352.jpg
  4. It's an unexpected honor to have you post here, Mr. Antony, even if it is under a pseudonym. PS You forgot his all-important won/loss record, but you're a busy man, what with the front office demoting, optioning, DFAing, waiving, flogging, signing, promoting, and kidnapping players at a rate of roughly three per day on average, so no worries.
  5. While nobody enjoys using hindsight to unfairly malign a manager more than I do, my take when Hughes was pulled was that Molitor a) deserved credit for having the courage to pull a veteran starter after 75 or so pitches, and b} that he must have seen something he reeeally didn't like in order to even consider doing a).
  6. The Stinky People Bill of Rights?
  7. I wouldn't worry about it. Nothing else has gone right in the last half hour.
  8. Aren't we going to give Aaron Gleeman's 40th-ranked Twins prospect Pat Dean a few starts first? Lefties who throw 88 don't grow on trees, ya know.
  9. http://25.media.tumblr.com/52189b9e366cfdc8f1ffa6725e890c9e/tumblr_mm9gb6Qzbz1qzdnxfo3_250.gif
  10. I'll take ineffective Twins starters for 500, Alex. "This unclaimed waiver wire lefty starter's presence in the 2016 Twins opening day rotation caused some fans to worry about what to do with him when JO Berrios was called up."
  11. His bunting was oboe quality. Swinging away, he was as hopeless as the otter's notorious inability to master the brass embouchure: darting eyes, hunted facial expression, flailing arms, and a stance that suggested that the air biscuit he planned to drop had unexpectedly escalated.
  12. It's an unwritten rule that the Twins always need to have one guy like that in the rotation. Before Pelfrey it was Scott Baker, who made look Charlie Brown look more intimidating than Bob Gibson on a bad day.
  13. Yes, and why are you saying that like it's a bad thing?
  14. Watching him bat was like watching an otter play the French horn.
  15. You were right the first time. This isn't a pitchers' duel, this is more like what a gentleman's agreement to take it easy on the starters and the pens would look like.
  16. That off season trip to the Steve Trachsel Pitching Academy really paid off. But hey, a guy with a career ERA+ of 98 and a FIP of 4.84 can take as long as he wants between pitches, because talent. Edit : HRD, not Pelfrey's numbers. Don't have the stomach to look those up.
  17. Implying high value per dollar spent, or...? http://www.libreriaalberti.com/static/img/portadas/_visd_0000JPG01BBX.jpg
  18. It was 1967, and, being an avid Twins fan, the great Satchmo had a lot to be happy about that year. The Twins played brilliantly, winning 91 games and finishing just one game behind the AL pennant winning BoSox. Harm socked 44 homers, Rod Carew was AL Rookie of the Year, and dizzy Dean Chance won 20 games. Actually, I have no idea if Louis Armstrong was a Twins fan; probably not. But 91 wins would be song-worthy relative to this Twins squad.
  19. Non-existent dilemmas that Twins fans probably shouldn't waste a millisecond worrying about: 1. Any B+ or better prospect being blocked by an above-average player on the 25 man roster. 2. A Twins front office exec being hired away before the Twins can promote him to GM when Ryan retires. 3. Paul Molitor being lured to another team by more money when his contract is up. 4. Deciding which one of many lights-out closer candidates to give the ball to in the 9th. And, for the LOVE OF GOD, after FIVE YEARS of the rotation ranging from fair to mostly awful, can we PLEASE stop worrying about... 5. Too much good starting pitching, until it actually happens.
  20. Good weekend series. Twins dusting off their answers to postgame questions about wins for a change!
  21. Yeah, I get that a lot, going way back to the nuns at Catholic school.
  22. Yup, but the important thing is that the Twins reached double digit wins by the middle of May even without him for the first half of that stretch...
  23. Yeah, but at this point in Suzuki's career, it would seem that anything Centeno does differently could be a plus.
  24. I think I read a prediction about this in a book a while back...
