  1. I was curious about the Twins' record, since the all-star break for each starting pitcher. Not the starting pitcher W/L, but the teams record when a given pitcher started the game. Duffey - 8-2 Santana - 8-6 Milone - 6-6 Gibson - 6-8 Hughes - 3-4 Pelfrey - 4-9 May 0-1 Duffey for MVP Seriously though, if we were doing a team MVP vote (which I think happens on this site eventually), he's top 5, right?
  2. With the Angels loss last night we moved from 4.0% to 9.5% chance of making the playoffs (according to Fangraphs and ESPN.com) Baseball Prospectus had us at 6.7% yesterday and hasn't updated their number yet. The Blue Jays sitting all of their regulars Wednesday night (after the clinched in the afternoon) and Yesterday doesn't help us a bit. They are now tied with KC and KC has something to play for. Toronto holds the tiebreaker, but it seems odds that they sat their starters for two games when homefield is on the line. I'd much rather play KC if we got through a WC game, but the odds of that happening are quite low since we need wins (probably 3) and we'd need KC to pass Toronto in the standings.
  3. Was that the only way we were going to get a guy in from 3rd with less than 2 outs? I'll take it!
  4. Paul Molitor should be fired on the spot if he lets Perkins face Santana
  5. 0-10 as a pinch hitter.... he's due?
  6. Maybe he will not even be in the lineup. If so, I can almost guarantee he takes one in the ribs in his first AB against the Twins next year. I don't think they will retaliate today, if he's in the lineup. It's too "obvious" (even though next April will also be obvious to those that are paying attention).
  7. I don't think any one here is suggesting we should throw at him. Some are guessing that they WILL throw at him though.
  8. That replay doesn't show the bat flip.
  9. People pose and watch their homeruns - I'm OK with that. People flip bats - I'm OK with that Most of the time people do one or the other, because the bat flip is part of the swing recoil. This was not the case with our buddy last night. He posed. He then carried his bat a quarter of the way down the line and flipped it. Not just any bat flip. A pretty big bat flip. A clearly purposeful big bat flip right in front of the Twins dugout. For a homerun that meant NOTHING. As has been pointed out. At the end of the day, what does it really matter? I suppose nothing, other than some young player being an a-hole for no real reason. Baseball tends not to like young twerp a-holes though.
  10. Is Molitor trying to give the entire pitching staff an inning tonight so they are all available tomorrow?
  11. Bring in Ricky. Let him get some work in
  12. I don't quite understand why that's an error. I thought he was on his way to 2nd and even if the throw was on target, there would have been a "advanced to 2nd on throw"
  13. Bring in Perk, to face Santana!
  14. Item 1) why didn't Buxton go ONCE in the entire Mauer AB? Even with 2 strike? It smells of some unwritten "6-runs ahead in the 7th inning" rule. Bologna! This is no time to care about some other manager getting bent out of shape about running up the score. 2) how in the world did the guy on 1st only get to 2b on that Indian RBI single to right? Is that V-Mart in an Indins uniform? Just finished writing this and the Twins got out of the inning to make point #1 a little less meaningful, but the point still stands.
  15. Same thing happened with Austin Riley. #2 in Appy, and #10 in GCL. If you just looked at his numbers, you could believe it though. Much stronger in the Appy. Ronald Acuna is the only other one that appears on both lists and his ranks is pretty consistent (#14/#11)
  16. Just look at their stats in the GCL and you will laugh even more. Palacios' OPS is almost twice as high as Cameron's
  17. Jesus, Dick, stop rambling about the Indians make-up-game 162 and potential 163. They'd have to go like 11-0 and get some help
  18. We have a least a hour until the heavier stuff comes.
  19. Cy Kluber Ricky NoKluber
  20. Trevor wants no part of laying down a bunt
  21. If Houston wanted to push things just a little they could get three games from Keuchel in their last 9, or at the very least have him for a game 163. Those couple off days really help. Twins have wall-to-wall games
  22. A real Sophie's Choice
  23. I think we should start the game with, like, Boyer or something, then after 2 innings, when it starts sprinkling, we suspend the game. No more Kluber. Blame Sven Sundgaard and move on.
  24. If they start the game, then they will finish it. If they pussyfoot around waiting for a window where they KNOW they aren't going to get rain for an hour, then we'll see you tomorrow night.
