  1. I think the counting of consecutive losses is silly. Now if this was the same team that lost all those games, it would be worth mentioning but for most of the players on this team, they have only lost 1 or 2 straight playoff games, going back to 2017.
  2. CONGRATULATIONS TO THE 2019 MINNESOTA TWINS!!!
  3. Need to keep beating the Tigers. I do NOT want to go into Kansas City needing even one win. For being a hundred loss team, the Royals are a downright scary team.
  4. I'm going to give the front office a mulligan over this. Simply because they have done fantastic work putting this team together. They've made mistakes on Lynn and Dyson, but for the most part, they've been a solid front office.
  5. Getting paid millions of dollars a year is not reasonable either and yet they do. So is it unreasonable to expect full speed effort on every baserunning play? Probably. But you ought to do some very unreasonable things when you get paid unreasonable money.
  6. Pete Rose seemed to always give every play his best. And please don't tell me he was this super-athlete. He was an average sized ballplayer that had a passion for the game. When you're getting paid millions of dollars off the backs of hard-working folks that come to see you, I would expect total hustle on every play. That doesn't mean you should be running into walls full-speed, but you should be running as fast as you possibly can to each and every base.
  7. My feeling is that it is possible that the Yankees are intentionally trying to make this happen. How else do you explain them playing us nearly every single time we make the playoffs. I know that this is a long-shot but it is POSSIBLE that the Yankees have at least considered it. It's just very strange that we always play them in the post-season. I'm kind of back and forth on this, but I think I would still rather play the Astros. If nothing else but because of the fact that it would be a different team in the post-season. It's kind of boring to play the Yankees all the time. But, on the other hand, the Yankees pitching staff is not nearly as good as the Astros, in my opinion.
  8. Because Steve Stone happens to be one of the most honest broadcasters in the game. I have always appreciated him because he will always speak his mind and is honest with what he says.
  9. Even if you can walk to third, NEVER even attempt to go to third in that situation. Just don't do it! Period! You're going to score on a hit from second, anyways, with two out. We needed Sano to come up to bat there. Rosario blew it big time.
  10. I respectfully disagree. You ALWAYS make sure to clinch before sitting anyone. Disasters are the name of the game in baseball. Almost every year, something really crazy happens. 2006, for example! It looked for all the world that nothing could stop the Twins that year. Out of absolutely nowhere, the A's swept us in the divisional series. Then, if we thought it couldn't get any crazier, the Tigers, who we had just defeated for the division title, sweep the A's. The Royals could easily do big time damage against the Twins these last 7 games against us. It is a real possibility. I sincerely hope that Baldelli is not going to rest any players. We need them more than ever right now.
  11. Why not play to clinch the division as quickly as possible and then rest players? Sounds like a better plan. Baldelli's approach is very curious.
  12. Here's hoping the Yankees get that record. What a gimmick! I don't care one bit who gets the record and do not truly understand why it was such a big deal to begin with. I do, however, care about winning the division. I was actually rather disappointed that Rosario spoke up the night they lost and yet broke the record for HRs. I think the team ought to have been highly disappointed because that dumb record means absolutely nothing. But that loss to a bad Tigers team? You bet the guys had a right to be disappointed that night.
  13. No. That's pretty much settled already. I suspect that a team like the Tigers or Royals would love to sign him next year though. He could really be a good mentor for their younger pitchers.
  14. Well, at least he pitched a solid game for his last game in a Twins uniform. I have to admit I liked him a lot more than I thought I would. When we first got Pineda, a Yankee fan chided me and said that he's terrible. He wasn't terrible. Pretty good pitcher, I believe his story, and I wish him well if he gets picked up by a team next year.
  15. I'm also a Buffalo Bills fan, so you might want to take that statement back. At least our Twins have won 2, (3 when including the 1924 Senators) World Series, my Bills never have won a Super Bowl.
  16. Speaking of records this season: What is the record for most road wins in a season? We can't be that far off from that record.
  17. One thing is for certain: This series was no fluke! Boston desperately needed to have a blockbuster series and we may have put a fork in them for this season! This was do or die for Boston and we beat them! I love beating those East Coast teams! I have always had great respect and admiration for the Orioles but I do not like the Yankees and Red Sox one bit!
  18. THAT WAS AWESOME!!!! And now I will proceed to watch the last play of the game at least 12 more times before I sleep! Good night all! GREAT ROAD TRIP! We have a chance to finish Cleveland! DO IT!
  19. That's what I thought going into the 2006 ALDS against the Oakland A's. Instead we played terribly the first two games at home. I think we split the first two games in Houston. We are an elite team on the road.
  20. I kind of hope the Twins finish the third seed because we play so much better on the road.
  21. Wouldn't it be great if Cleveland would lose the wild cards to Oakland and Tampa Bay? I would absolutely love to see it. I like both Oakland and Tampa Bay, have great respect for both teams. It sure would be a wonderful ending to this year and it's very possible because when a team goes on a tear as Cleveland had done in July and August, you know what they say: What goes up must come down. I think the way the Twins have stayed on an even keel has actually helped them. There haven't been major winning streaks but there also have not been bad losing streaks. I think this is a more successful model then to have a stretch of amazing baseball as Cleveland seems to be tiring from that streak.
  22. Well, if we can finally move on from Gibson and replace him with a decent starter, I would say we have a real good chance of upgrading our rotation, actually. Lots of free agents to choose from this offseason. I am actually looking forward to seeing the rotation next year, especially if Pineda can come back.
  23. If the Yankees do pass the Twins for the record HR in a season mark this year, (I don't think they will), then one thing is sure: You won't hear another word about juiced balls or any of that for the rest of the season and playoffs. You can take that to the bank! It is so obnoxious as a Twins fan. Oh, and in football, I'm a Buffalo Bills fan so I have to deal with that too, how the media talks constantly about my ultimate rival Patriots.
