  1. This is some rare good news - a top-rated prospect earning a promotion. Looking forward to see his performance at AAA - better than watching the Twins play.
  2. Nice read of Outman's skill set - so his last name applies to both his defense and hitting. Replace Keirsey with Outman and see if he can bunt any better - looks like he knows how to take a walk. Might as well play him the rest of this lost year.
  3. After the trade deadline selloff - my only hope was that we would get new ownership and new baseball people because I don't trust the current baseball group to be able to develop talent, teach fundamentals and form a baseball team - not just a collection of individuals. It appears that hope is now gone. The best possible situation I can hope now is that the infusion of new money will let our payroll go back up to maybe average, but not sure I trust the management group to be able to use it wisely.
  4. Lewis has taken over the Correa role - can't seem to hit in the clutch and Martin - questionable fielding, baserunning and too many grounders to the right - try some opposite field - Gaspar those bunt attempts were embarrassing. . But let's focus on the good - nice pitching from Ohl and Tonkin especially getting out of those extra innings scoreless. Keaschall - what can you say - he has brought back life to Twins baseball when it needed it most. He has more clutch hits in the past 10 days than the folks traded had all year. Jeffers has been hot and he had a nice clutch RBI in the eighth. Congrats to Fitzgerald on his first MLB hit and home run! Looks like the team is having fun so it is a fun watch.
  5. Noah Davis has taken over Wentz role in the bullpen but has taken it up a notch - Tigers were lined up to take the next shot - what a hit show - fortunately a runner was thrown out on the bases. We can't bring Abel and Bradley up to the big league team because they need tweaking but Noah Davis is just fine to throw in there with a one run lead.
  6. Seems like the plan was to eliminate the bullpen - in an age when bullpen usage is at its most importance - and then acquire every Left-handed hitting OF or catcher. Seems a very imbalanced team now but interested to see who gets promoted to the big league club today.
  7. This organization can't do anything smartly. Last year while in contention we buy nothing this year we sell everything - a joke of a franchise. Most of the players traded made sense but then we went to far and the return was too little in many of the trades. I hope with this purge the Ownership, Falvey and Rocco are going out along with the players because they sure as hell can't develop prospects or teach fundamentals. We have starting pitching and no bullpen on a team that likes to pull starters after 5 innings. We will have to go with tandem starters to split games up.
  8. How about roster management - what is Bride still doing on the roster - and Keirsey is pretty much useless at the plate. Back to Bride, left to face McGill in the bottom of the 8th because Castro is injured and Vazquez is well Vazquez I guess. At-bat went as poorly as expected - was hoping for a Blind Squirrel finds a nut once and a while but alas the squirrel went nutless again in this case. 9th inning at-bats - hit ties the game with a runner at second (well maybe not for us) but a pop-up on a favorable count swinging for St. Paul and then 2 swings at balls and a caught-looking for the 3rd strike.
  9. I have subscribed to the famous quote "Abandon all hope ye who enter Twins fanhood" this season and I find myself being able to take the teams play in much better fashion. I can enjoy and appreciate when I see other teams playing better fundamental baseball. If we do well - hey I am happily surprised! Instead of viewing the whole - enjoying our individual performances - Buxton's hitting and health (so far) - Bader's defense - Clemens hot start with us - Lee's hitting streak and defense - pitching performances by Ryan, Duran and Stewart. That's all I got after watching the opponent get 15+ runs on us again.
  10. Bride is pitching so much he is starting to hit like a pitcher. For anyone that attends the games - Do they play "Here comes the Bride" for his entrance music? Position players pitching is starting to do to stats what steroids did - inflating performance.
  11. Interesting that MLB still allows rain shortened games - seems a little odd to just say we will stop the game right here with 2 outs in the bottom of the 6th. Why not complete the rest of yesterday's game today? Difficult to plan when the game will end and doesn't allow to come back against a weaker bullpen. Trying to think of another sport where the game is called before the full time. In golf that will happen sometimes due to weather and they will go 3 rounds instead of 4. BAck to baseball, maybe if that is the last game of the last series that team plays against the team that could be allowed rather than having to travel back for 3 innings but if there is another game like today why not finish the game off? MLB on the other hand allows using position players as pitchers rather than alternatively banning that but allowing the team trailing by the large margin to just call uncle and end the game. So in one case shortened games are allowed and in the other they are not.
  12. Looks like we have bad Alcala today after a few appearances as Good Alcala
  13. Just tell him if he pinch hits for Keirsey he does not have to hit like him - lol! Get them next time - against the Guardians
  14. What, no mention of Julien's great slide into 2nd base? I don't think I ever seen a slide so bad in little league. I have Mlb.tv and watch a lot of other teams - no team has worse fundamentals than Minnesota. Tom Kelly must be rolling over in his recliner. I think it's time for Julien, Alcala and Rocco to go and I am not a big fire the manager guy but if a situation every called for a shake-up, this is it.
  15. The players are currently drawing straws to see who will blow today's game.
  16. Silver lining to the injury is we get to see Matthews and Festa pitching - not that it makes a difference in the won/loss column - we won't support them with hitting, fielding or relief pitching. Maybe helps them out in the long run.
  17. You know when teams are going good and its a different player each game that comes through for the team to help them win. This team is the exact opposite - they each are taking turns finding new ways to blow the game form poor situational hitting, poor baserunning, poor fielding, pitching imploding and poor managing.
  18. What a clown show - this club invents new ways to lose. They all should be embarrassed.
  19. I'll throw a little gas on the fire - we haven't exactly played against teams playing well yet either. Our competition records so far excluding their games against the Twins St. Louis 1-6, Chicago WSox 1-5 , Houston 2-5, Kansas City 4-5 adds up to a combined 8-21 .
  20. Remembering back to the end of last season - the team was pretty bad at fundamentals - defense and baserunning/speed. We have kept the status quo and even lost Santana/Kepler who were two of our best defensive players - so in fact on paper gotten worse. The minor league signings we have made have not addressed that issue. Any improvement will have to come from coaching or player self-improvement. Hoping we are not rolling out the same play we saw at the end of last season.
  21. No slight against these guys but not a big loss if we DFA'd any of them - I think they would all pass through waivers. That being said probably not going to have to as we won't add any more talent. More likely we make a trade.
  22. I had a positive take on this as well in terms of we won't need to make a bad trade to reduce payroll down to $130M or less. Doesn't mean we won't trade and reduce payroll but can do so based on trade value/needs. Perhaps the news that the sale will be coming sooner than later influenced this change as the Pohlads won't be on the hook for this years payroll if the sale comes before the season starts. For the new owners what's a couple million when you are spending $2B to purchase the team - probably have that loose in their couch cushions (note to readers of this post - this is a joke from a long ago era when people used to carry change in their pockets that would fall out when sitting on their sofa's).
  23. Ford, would rather have a Chevy :-) . No harm in taking a shot especially on a minor league deal but not expecting anything from this signing. If he was good defensively I would like it a more. His 2023 numbers with Seattle were OK but he is also getting up in age (for a baseball player). Again we need to get better defensively and with speed and this signing does neither.
  24. Fortunately I did not hold out much expectations for any additions/changes at these Winter meetings. The highlight of the offseason might be the Rule V Major and minor league drafts. We got more players in then we lost and we have to hope we uncover a hidden gem or two. If form plays out there will be some minor activity in late January/early February - none of which will involve adding a bullpen arm. Not that I am giving up on next season, just not expecting much of an offseason. I was hoping we might add some speed and defense but we will see.
