  1. There are times when hit placement trumps exit velocity
  2. I would send Wallner down at this point just to see if he can regain some semblance of offense - maybe heat up with the weather.
  3. We will take a Sac Fly - HBP is the next good bet for Wallner
  4. At the risk of jinxing him - Bradley pitching has been a nice development for the Twins this March & April - it has been a pleasure to watch him pitch hope it continues to at least give us something to look forward to watching the team.
  5. One obvious and inconsequential comment on the game - Starting pitcher win and loss records don't matter like they did 20+ years ago and that likely is a good thing. Ryan ended up getting tagged with the loss after his runner scored the winning run but who really cares - that is not how starting pitchers are evaluated - we all would consider he pitched a good game going 6 innings and giving up 2 runs. While I do miss a little bit the responsibility for winning and losing that came with being the starter - no one today would look and want to pin this loss on Ryan - we would like to give it to the bullpen.
  6. Kriedler is the new Wallner look at that OPS - except with better defense - lol!
  7. Can't do the Fundamental things right - no change from the last 2 years. It's got to get better than this.
  8. Not advancing the runner on 2nd with no outs again - check
  9. Don't lookup what we are hitting so far with runners in scoring position. That has not changed.
  10. Well, nice to see good running by Martin and Keaschall that inning.
  11. My 4 reasons for finding optimism were going to be 1) Drugs 2) Alcohol 3) Finding Religion 4) Mental instability and I am a generally optimistic person. That being said I will be watching with my MLB.tv subscription. Being a fan since the late 1960's I have made it through a lot of bad seasons. My approach will be to celebrate individual player improvement and success and try not to focus on the big picture. Hopefully we don't hang on too long to vets that are underperforming and we see some of the younger guys get a try so that they gain some experience. If somehow a bad fundamental, bad defense, meh offense and no bullpen injury-prone team can compete for a playoff spot I will be pleasantly surprised.
  12. Well, this sucks. Will miss his pitching and leadership. For a low payroll team that the Twins are this is is a killer as well. It will end up that we paid Lopez $66M for the 2025-2027 seasons and we may get 2 partial seasons out of the deal. Don't know if we had any insurance to cover a portion. To be optimistic - hope this gives a young starter a chance to blossom.
  13. I will say I am glad I don't have to watch Julien play defense anymore - wish both Julien and Ohl well in Colorado. Decent get for what we traded. The Danny Santana mention reminded me that he and his family rented the house across from me when he played for the Rangers - Nice family.
  14. If a player is not statistically projected to be bottom 2% hitting and defense our management doesn't want them. Fitzgerald produced too high an OPS with us last year. Congratulations to Fitzgerald - maybe he will earn a partial World Series share next season.
  15. Those MLB batting stats are downright depressing to read. Weak contact combined with exceptional swing and miss ability. Is he swatting flies at the plate? His minor league stats are ok for a defensive specialist - so hopefully he is just AAA depth in case of emergency.
  16. I think a veteran presence would be a good idea in the bullpen and we need a lefty - so I would take any of these three. We will probably cycling through a lot of the young arms in the bullpen so I would like to add a proven arm as stability and perhaps a mentor. Can always deal them at the trade deadline if necessary.
  17. No reason to tender him - as a lefty if he wants to sign a minor league deal maybe as long as he is not blocking anyone. Frankly he will only bring back memories of the horrible bullpen post trade deadline so I would like to see him leave the organization.
  18. Nice win for Minnesota last night and seeing a starting pitcher go 7 innings! Perhaps illustrating how the Twins are viewed and losing to this team Bruce Bochy ripped into his team last night after the loss as this is the headline on the Dallas Morning news this morning "Bruce Bochy calls out Rangers Intensity, focus as Texas ugly finish to 2025 continues" .
