Pensacola has had some pitching studs roll through this year. Graterol, Alcala, Dubnak, Ober, Duran, Smeltzer. Future pitching looks bright. Unfortunately most of that talent can't help the current Twins pitching staff.
It's sad to watch the guys struggle so much at home lately. Twins fans have had to endure some rough times the past 9 years and it would be nice to give them solid base ball during a hopeful season at Target Field.
I would think that Harper is kinda on thin ice right now. He's been giving up a lot of well hit balls lately. If he continues to falter he might be replaced by Graterol or Alcala.
The Twins really haven't been playing their best baseball at home. It's disappointing, but maybe if this is a trend it won't be that bad to start potential playoff series either at NY or Houston.
Fair enough. Can't argue with statistics. If Cruz helps the Twins go far in the playoffs with similar numbers to what he has currently I would say that Cruz is the better signing, but you definitely make a good point that Thome had better numbers. I guess I just have some recency bias.
Comparing Cruz's slash line + 33 HRs + 80 RBI (and still a month left to play) to Thome's 2010 numbers...it doesn't really seem close at all in my opinion
In happier news, Bailey Ober pitched his 2nd straight gem for Pensacola. 7 innings, 0 runs, 3 hits, 12 Ks. Hopefully he gets a quick promotion to Rochester.
