  1. Blah, blah, blah blah Nelson Cruz will not be the answer or the excuse. putting all the faith in more than one rookie is scary and idiotic.
  2. As I am sure you know everything. I personally thought of you first when i heard Eddie is now going to take his 30 homers and 100 rbis a year to Cleveland. I am not going to hesitate to tell you "i told you so" when he mashes Twins pitching 19 times a year for the next 5 years. Meanwhile we get to watch some combination of Wade, Cave, Kiriloff, Rooker, or some as yet unknown entity scouted out by the AMAZING front office. I get everything everyone says about Rosario's faults. What I dont understand is why am i seemingly the only one that appreciated what he brought to this team. IMHO the way the Twins let him go was totally bush league. If you dont think he has a chip on his shoulder you are watching a different game. Everyone is going to get to find out the hard way. While we watch Cave kick the ball around and the rookies striggle to hit .200. Be careful what you wish for...Now you will get to see it. Up close and personally. 19 times a year. I am sure Rosario will save his best for us.
  3. Time will tell...we dont need to debate it now...If it were me i wouldnt want people leaving here with a bad taste in their mouths like Rosario has, like Lynn had, and just like Berrios and Buxton are probably going to have. Im tired of seeing our home grown guys thtive elsewhere because we are too cheap to pay them. Just because you can evaluate a binch of obscure statistical numbers doesnt make anyone a pro scout. A lot of these guys are winners with a lot of heart. Rosario wouldnt be the first one we let go. It's the way we do it that bothers me. As fans we expect players to be loyal to our team, how can we expect that when our FO and owners treat the players like livestock or a bunch of robots. The owners have to share the blame for the sad state of Major League Baseball today.
  4. and i dont mean a catcher either, i mean a prospect like him as a left fielder.
  5. nobody will ever convince me it was a better decision to just cut Rosario loose unless you have a prospect like Joe Mauer knocking on the door...none of those dudes are THAT good
  6. JA Happ is no Odorizzi, and Robles is no Clippard, Romo, nor May. if you think Simmons solves any problems then you dont see what i see. So Arraez replaces Gonzalez? Not likely at least not as an outfielder. We are expecting too many young unproven players to step up all at once. If Sano plays dh who plays first? Who is the starting left fielder? The smart guys prolly know something none of us do but at this point i dont see what it is.
  7. i get your argument, but if you were going to cut Rosario loose why didnt you use the money to sign Cruz right away? Why are they waiting around? From what i saw of Rooker and Kiriloff last year do you really think they are ready to supplant Cruz, and Rosario's production? Who is our starting left fielder now? Arraez? Dont make me laugh. Lewis isn't ready Larnach isn't ready. I would argue that Kiriloff and Rooker aren't either. To sign Simmons and to say that solves the utility problem is ridiculous. As it sits now we have some combo of Buxton, Kepler(when they arent hurt) and Cave and Wade in the outfield. Also if Cruz doesn't come back then who is the dh? Our rotation and bullpen is weak, we are too right handed now, and you are looking at two rookie starters in the lineup. (Dh and lf) This team is weaker no doubt. Dont fool yourself into thinking otherwise. It is a disaster waiting to happen if Donaldson's and Simmons' injury history lately rears their ugly heads.
  8. please, everyone knows this offseason is bull crap... A lot of obvious things have not happened and its too late. Unless i see Trevor Bauer and Cruz, then the fo blew it badly.
  9. totally...if you plan to blow off Gonzalez, Rosario, Adrianza, and Cruz who are the replacements? Larnach? Kiriloff? Lewis, and Rooker? I don't f*€king think so
  10. Chicago will always find a way to lose. What they have done is make it tougher to win the division. We need to stop comparing ourselves to Cleveland and Chicago and start comparing ourselves to the Rays, Yankees, Astros, and A's.
  11. How come nobody wants to bring Marwin back. Again, do I have to remind everyone about the importance of team chemistry. putting a team on the field that includes Odorizzi, Cruz, Gonzalez, Clippard, Romo, and Adrianza is still a potential World Series contender. Maybe we should just bring our own guys back?
  12. And yes my lifetime dream is to be a twins daily writer.
  13. I haven't read the other comments nor the entire story. But I will say this....um....... Derek what the f*€k is going on? I was prolly too critical in 2018. I was quick to give the FO credit with the 2019 success. I'm not saying we have to match the White Sox as far as free agent signings. They will still kick the hall around at an alarming rate, fall asleep and make bonehead baserunning mistakes, choke in clutch situations, and rush mediocre prospects to the big leagues. But adding Lynn, Eaton, and now Hendtiks..is kinda scary. The Falvines like to fend off questions that are critical with answers that relate to the future. The future is now damn it. If we can't win our division, how can we claim to be a super AL team? I am not that impressed with Kiriloff, Larnach, or Rooker. May, Clippard and Romo are replaced by whom? Odorizzi, Hill, are replaced by whom? We heard all this bull about a new shortstop. With Dobnak, Thorpe and Smeltzer in our rotation it won't matter what the defensive range of the middle infield. Trust me the bullets will find the alleys. Maybe Derek had pitching development attributes in Cleveland and many others I'm sure. Lately I see the Indians as a team thinking unrealistically that they can still compete. With spring training literally six weeks away dont you think it's time to solidify the bullpen, rotation, and sign Nelson Cruz? Or maybe the Falvines think we should roll out this group as it is? If so, that's sad. This, so far has not been sustained success. As much as we like our new players, an infusion of all these guys at once is never gonna work. Am I scared of Eaton, Lynn, Hendriks, etc. No way. That crew will always find a way to lose. Where is the push to be the best? There hasn't been one. And the chance to get one is fading fast.
  14. It's fun to talk about now but it's all b.s. when the games really start
  15. There's gonna be numerous factors involved. What division are you in? Are you a National or American league team. For all the guppies and yuppies that thought Terry Ryan sucked because he was old and Derek Falvey is the best ever because he is a wonder boy imagine this....baseball has changed immensely even in the last five years. Where are the closers? How come nobody steals any bases. High Leverage relievers are a commodity and OBP is more valued than batting titles. The Cleveland Indians were not a dynasty...any more than the 2002-2010 Twins ever were. Jose Berrios is what he is always going to be right now. A durable version of Carl Pavano. Baseball players will be measured by their heart and clutch performances. Nobody can predict that. Winners win Championships. Winners have heart. We still have more titles than the White Sox, Indians,Tigers, and Royals since 1991.
  16. Semien would not look so great defensively if he didn't have Chapman at third. Nor would his bat play so great without Chapman and Olson hitting behind him. With Donaldson at third, (if he is healthy) anybody can look good at ss. Polanco is a better hitter than Semien. Let somebody else like the White Sox pay that fool 20 million a year to hit .260 and strike out 200 times. Oh that's right....they already have Tim Anderson. It will never happen but Lindor would look great in a Twins uniform.
  17. I'd have to look it up but they stuck him at 3b a lot too
  18. Thad Levine is secretly still an advisor for Texas....just look at the contract they gave to Kyle Gibson and Lance Lynn ....lmmfao
  19. Buxton is gone in two years to roam the d.l. for somebody else. Wade Cave, and Kepler aren't the answer. If they would have been smart they would have taught Rosario to play cf. Celestino is never gonna be the next Puckett or Hunter or even Buxton. This is a new era. The Cleveland/Texas Stranger player development philosophy ....the one where we waste 13 roster spots on mediocre relievers and can't score any runs.
  20. Do not deluge my inbox with diatribes about how great Derek Falvey is. Wait until we see what happens. They have a five year deal. Stfu
  21. I would have said Rosario, Sano, and Pineda. Berrios is what he is...a #3 starter. Donaldson is going to make an impact that we, as fans will not see immediately. In the Clubhouse. Buxton will be fine despite his durability issues. It looked like to me he is determined to make the Falvines pay for disrespecting him in 2018 over the service time issues. Now you are gonna non tender Rosario...who is a close longtime teammate of Buxton ....? Byron, and Berrios are gone as soon as they can go. Sano has to step up and take Cruz's place because our FO is too smart to see we need Nelson for at least two more years. Who is the left handed bat to replace Rosario? Pineda has been the most reliable starter for two years. Has any team ever handed over like 4 prominent 25 man roles to unproven rookies before? Yep. Have they ever won? Nope. Those boy wonder front office dudes are pretty sure of themselves aren't they?
  22. Sad but probably true....except the Bautista part...that will be Hrbek
  23. Colome is not elite. If you put him with Robles, Duffey, and Rogers now....that's a start
  24. Sure, we need 2 starters. Bauer is my pick. If Falvey is so great then why isn't Bauer already our #1 starter? Dobnak and Smeltzer can handle the #5 slot and why isn't Odorizzi already signed. Also, why drag our feet on Nelson? If you wanna dump Rosario and Cruz, then Larnach, Kiriloff, Rooker, Gordon, and Lewis better be ready...lmmfao
  25. Yeah, this is fun but I wonder how we can value Berrios so much? He is a #3 at best. I would argue that Pineda is more valuable. If Odorizzi doesn't come back, and if Maeda can't sustain the short season success he had, we are going to miss Rosario, Romo, Clippard, Gonzalez, Adrianza, and May way more than the yuppie Aaron Gleeman wannabes would ever admit.
