  1. I was going to say Good Win and nice job today by Diamond and Plouffe, but the Mauer injury sure takes the good feelings away. Hopefully it is only a day to day kind of injury. I here you Shane Wahl - we just can't seemingly find a way to sail the boat into calm waters... it's dumbfounding.
  2. Damn, another lost opportunity to score a run. When is the last time the Twins put the squeeze play on? It would be nice to see that once in a while.
  3. Give Bremer some time. He is still recovering from working with "Wild Thing" and his disjointed announcing style last evening.
  4. Incredible indeed! Seth, it sounds like your trip is off to an excellent start - thanks for sharing.
  5. Thanks Thrylos. It does answer my question. How would you fix this mess that the Twins have become?
  6. Maybe Mike Piazza is up to the challenge. I have the feeling that a Mauernomics class might need to be included.
  7. Thanks Glunn. I agree with your 4 points of interest: Hardy, Ortiz, Garza and Playoff futility against the Yankees. Trading Hardy can be equated to divorcing your wife to hang out with a couple of meth head tweekers and Releasing Ortiz can be equated to giving your uber rich neighbor your Rolls Royce because you are too lazy to learn how to drive a stick shick. Garza... puke, Yankees.. puke. Glunn, please do me a favor and send my apologize to Thrylos for calling him a murderer of hope - it was only meant in jest.
  8. Oops... I read your response too quickly: Of course you can! I hope I have some students in my classes!
  9. Sorry. Maybe I should have worded it differently. It is no secret on this site that Thrylos wants Gardenhire dismissed and I was sincerely being curious. I just want to know what event made Thrylos think or know Gardy wasn't the man for the job. No disrespect to Thrylos. I actually want to know. Maybe I can subscribe to his point of view?
  10. I hope I get to be a professor at this academy.
  11. River Brian, in the first round I take a long term can't miss young player to build and market my team around for many years. With Kershaw, Trout and Harper being 24, 20 and 19 respectively, if you sign them long term they could be playing at a high level effectively for 15-20 years for the franchise. As far as the later rounds are concerned, from your examples I would take A-Gon over Rizzo, McCann over Grandal, and Bauer over Halladay. Yeah, youth might play a part of it after the first round, but you fill your roster out to make the best team you can. After you get your "build around him player", you can start adding in the blue hairs and such and take the best available player to work towards being a World Series Victor!
  12. I probably have to jump aboard this ship. If Trout or Bryce Harper were Shortstops maybe things would be different.
  13. You should have! I would have been a first responder defending your article. I don't know how it has happened, but I have become a Plouffetivist. I guess there are worse things. My guess is that they will indeed end up with a similar BA - hopefully closer to .250 than .200.
  14. I am curious. When was the first time you hated Gardenhire and knew you could never turn back. This is actually a serious question and not a bait.
  15. I'll make this short: 1. No - The Twins were looking down the barrel of a Johan Santana trade, Liriano coming off TJ surgery. Garza was the best arm we had at the time looking towards 2008. 2. DY is a pain in the ass and a **** fielder. We finally were able to get his engines running offensively in 2010 - should have dumped him for the best we could get and keep Hardy. 3. At the time, if I remember correctly, Twins players and fans were wanting a "difference maker" type of hitter to put them over the edge of merely being able to contend. Bill Smith, wanting to make a splash as the new GM took a risk and made the trade. At the time I was wondering why the Twins didn't get BJ Upton instead of Young for the amount they gave up. Obviously it wouldn't have worked either way. Smith is a Financial numbers guy, should never have been in a GM position, but what the hell, throw him in the doghouse with R.D.
  16. Repetition is the key. Without playing him almost everyday we will never know. Let him bat against tough RHP's, throw him into the fire, let us figure out who Plouffe really is.
  17. As of now, for the most part, he pretty much is. For the season I really do believe he will hit over .230 even though some might find that hard to imagine. He has power and has been okay at 3B (except for a couple "In your face" mistakes). I have pimped Plouffe way to much, but I still believe he can be an answer, rather than a player who creates a question because of his performance. Keep throwing him out at the hot corner - let's make our final judgement in October.
  18. Hey TFFA. I would like to know who is the toughest pitcher or hitter they have squared up against in the Eastern League, and/or who they think IS the best pitcher and position player in the Eastern League destined for MLB success.
  19. If the Twins do indeed intend on trading the likes of Willingham, Span, or whomever, they better have their eyes focused on a grand prize. MLB GM's are tight fisted when it comes to giving up top prospects. That is the game now. You need an upper echelon player to fetch upper echelon prospects. Willingham and Span are very good players, but do not constitute that brand. We would better off holding on to them rather than trading them for a supposed future #4 Starter. As a fan, if that kind of trade went down, that would most definitely sink my ship.
  20. I agree 100%. The Cubs are a pretty awful team and if they cannot find a place to hide Bowden in their bullpen/Active Roster something must be amiss with him... right? On the flip side of the coin, if the Twins' F.O. doesn't have any info or dirt on Bowden - he is definitely worth taking a flyer on.
  21. I do not think we will ever see Hicks as a pitcher. He is a only 22 and I expect he will figure out his hitting problems to a certain degree. Maybe eliminating the switch hitting element of his game would help? I hope the clock is ticking down on that (switch hitting is very overrated). If the Twins were to demand Hicks converts to a pitcher. My guess is he would call it a career and focus his energy on being a pro golfer - from what I hear, he is pretty good. If some want to use T-Hunt as an example of development - Hunter didn't emerge until his age 25/26 season. There is still a fare amount of time for Hicks and it is way too soon to lose hope on his promise.
  22. I agree with you Twins North on Rosario being a more likely candidate for 2B in 2015 rather than 2014. His inclusion was more or less wishful thinking on my part - but you never know. On another note: I've got to get my hands on some Poutine... it sounds like a heart attack ready to happen, but intriguingly delicious!
  23. Plouffe vs B.J. Garbe... Huh?
