  1. River Brian, take the 3 points back. You crack me up! It is well worth the price of admission.
  2. A tear drops Dave Dravecky's eye. Harmon and countless other baseball players who did not survive cancer would be very disappointed in you for you comment.
  3. French Fries, Cheese Curds, Gravy.... yummmmmmm
  4. This is my 2014 Opening Day Line-up (Starting pitcher and Closer included) C - Hermann or Free Agent 1B - Morneau/Parmelee 2B - Rosario SS - Dozier 3B - Mauer LF - Sano CF - Aaron Hicks RF - Angel Morales DH - Morneau/Parmelee SP - Peabody Firefrost (The 1st overall pick from the 2013 draft - he has Strasburg's power arm and make-up, mixed with Patrick Swayze's ability to twinkle his toes while dancing. Closer - G.P. Dynamite (Glen Perkins legally changes his name to this)
  5. Thanks for the update TFFA. Not that I am down on switch hitting, buts sometimes, to me, it seems like it is fashionably cool and highly overated to be a switch hitter and may not be in that player's best interest. When you think of successful Switch hitters, you obviously start with Mantle, Eddie Murray and Chipper. Those kind of players seemingly only come around every 20 years or so. Not that I am down on Hicks or comparing him to those players, but at this juncture with Hicks being 22 and playing in his 5th pro season, maybe the Twins Organization should start focusing on his strengths and eliminating the weaknesses from his tool box. What do you think will happen?
  6. I am surprised, but pleased to see Rosario rated #2. Not that a offensive and defensively minded CF is bad, but if he can stick at 2B all the better. So far, so good for the 4th round pick out of Puerto Rico.
  7. Dear Mr. Jokin. Are you a high profile defense attorney? If not, you should give your career choice a second thought. You would make Johnny Cochrane proud... although a few "If the glove doesn't fit, you must acquit" kind of lines would help your standing and profile. Within this thread you probably have a books worth of written material. You seem really intent on proving your critics wrong and at no cost. I am not sure whether to equate that to you having an inflated ego or that you are uber passionate about Mauer's contract - it comes off as angry and out of control. This is coming from a Twins Daily Participant who has pissed on an electric fence or 2 on this site and is regretful of past posts, etc... I might actually regret this one. Mr. Jokin, please channel your inner Johnny Cochrane and repeat these words: "Joe Mauer's Contract is behind us, about the contract don't remind us."
  8. Oh well... close enough.
  9. How long has it been since the Twins had a walk-off HR? I am assuming it was Thome against the Sox in August of 2010. I am going out on a limb and putting some positive mojo out there tonight. Either Plouffe of Span hits a walk-off HR.
  10. If I was pitching in the Majors and my career had fallen on very, very bad times production wise, thus leading to my release. San Diego would be my first choice to sign with. Petco Park is the medicine to a pitcher's ills and he will probably put up good numbers pitching in tha..... Oops... Strike what I have just typed. I must have lost my head. Marquis' last home baseball park was the Petco Park of the American League - Target Field.
  11. on another note...
  12. I'm with you brother. Let's take it to the streets and front office! All we need to say is "Carew Blue". If it lost on the F.O., let's grind them out!
  13. I'd paint my house "Carew Blue" also!
  14. Hell Yeah! Look how the "Carew Blue" accentuates Bruno's physique as he makes his start from the batter's box to 1B. He looks intent and powerful. How can the Twin's deny that this is a much better uniform than there "Rip Off" uniforms?
  15. I don't think you could just have the Robin Egg Blue Jersey without the pants. I think that a top to bottom Robin Egg Blue would work. From now on why don't we call that shade of blue "Carew Blue". 1977, .388 BA, to me that is what that color represents.
  16. It is up to Plouffe to decide what kind of player he is. In a season of failure and low expectations, there is no better time to throw Plouffe out there day in and day out. I like him at 3B. I suppose you could throw Jamey Carroll out there as a 38 year old journeyman, I am sure Carroll plays a big part in the Twin's future success 3-5 years down the road. Maybe Casilla? Maybe Valencia? Plouffe is out of options and I think he deserves this year to show he can do it. The afforementioned players (excluding Plouffe) are not the answer. Plouffe may not be the answer, but I sure would like to see him have an ample opportunity to prove that is the case. The 2012 season should be his to show, or not show he can cut it.
  17. Most definitely!
  18. I think the Robin Blue uni's would be okay. The uniforms we sport now are a mismatch of other team's designs and colors and dictate a lack of inspiration. It's not like they would be as horrible as the Astro's or Expo's uniforms of the 70's-80's. I like it. Let's push it forward.
  19. All Plouffe has show in the bigs is an inability to be defensively worthwhile and to show some HR pop while hitting poorly. This being said I still believe that Plouffe still can turn the corner. There's nothing not to like about a 20HR pop type of player who can play all of the IF positions and the Corner OF positions. Good progress needs to be seen this season to justify his worth. He has another 4 months to prove it. The book is not finished on Plouffe.
  20. Thanks Thrylos. I guess I was right. I wonder what it represents? Does Crisp have a fetish that dictates that he wants to be shot through the neck by a hit man? I guess The evolution of physical self expression still has the wind blowing into its sail. I suppose it is better than getting a tribal tattoo or plugs inserted into one's ear lobes.
  21. For those who are watching the game. What is on the left side of Coco Crisp's Neck? Is it a tattoo of sniper rifle scope with a silver stud piercing in the middle of the scope? If it is, I have never seen that before... not that I am against it, but this is a first.
  22. I will admit that I am not a supporter of Matt Capps, but today I really feel sorry for him. When the Twins seemingly had a good chance to avoid a sweep and a 5 game losing streak, appropriately Matt Capps comes in for the save and gives the game away. Ugghh... Capps has not had a lot of opportunities for a save this season and today he committed his first blown save. Because of this futile team, Capps does not have a lot of room for error. A bad day for MC can be the difference between a 4 and 10 game losing streak. Matt Capps is in a bad position and the microscope is fixed in on him. Failure wise, He has no room to breathe and for him this could be a long, long season baring the brunt of Twins fan's hatred. Like I said I am not a Matt Capps fan, but I certainly feel for him and this situation he is in.
  23. Thoughtful and great Article TFFA. I want to remain a kid when it comes to Twins baseball and in that sense of belief I hope Mauer and Morneau remain Twins forever. I too was sad to see Frankie V. go... and wasn't David West the main component of that trade for the Twins, not Aguilera or Tapani? Viola, Aguilera, and Tapani will always have a place in my baseball heart for the joy, glory, pride and respect we received in 1987 and 1991... I hope someday that we can experience that again!
  24. Thrylos, nice job on your draft analysis and blogs. They are really informative and a nice read. On this topic (Sano) you are a murderer of hope and firing the starting gun way too soon. Give him a few years to prove he can't be a third baseman. I know you have seen him play and you judge him on your personal analysis and gut feeling. He's 2-4 years out from being with the Twins. Wait another year before you declare he is 6 feet under as a third baseman.
