  1. This is truly a great day for Beardom! Good Luck Luis Perdomo the Baseball player and no luck is needed for Luis Perdomo the pianist - he seems to be doing just fine without any luck. PFH... you are the man!
  2. If anyone here was the GM of the Orioles, they would not for a second consider trading Bundy. The Orioles might make a lesser trade to make a push for the playoffs, which would be good for their fans - resulting in better attendance, hope for the future and good PR. Beyond that there really isn't a realistic trade they could make that would make them World Series contenders. Too many potholes, not enough asphalt to fill them. The Orioles might have a serviceable team right now and they have some okay pieces, but I can feel rest assured that Dan Duquette is not looking at the here and now, but towards 2-3 years from now. Dylan Bundy will not be traded... not now, maybe in 8 years.
  3. It never registered with me that Eddie Rosario was born on September 28th. If there are such things as heroes - that is the birth date of my greatest hero. The fact that I missed this makes me very disappointed with myself. I guess we all have over sites. I realize that I am a narrowed down specialist (loose term) on this site and maybe I am not the best suited to have an adopt-a-prospect. If anyone wants to take on Rosario and with no doubt do a better job than I have done... throw your hat into the ring and let Seth sort it out and pick a winner. Hey Seth, I am serious. Put it in the hands of a person that takes this stuff to heart and devotes their time into it. It's not for me. I gave it a good college effort at the beginning, but it's not for me. Best Regards, Bark's Lounge
  4. I definitely agree they could probably support a minor league team. AAA might be a stretch and Omaha irritant, but I would imagine they could probably tote a AA club. I might not be correct, but region wise, doesn't Springfield, MO and Wichita, KS have AA clubs? They have roughly a 250-500K population. With Omaha being pretty baseball rich, you would think it has spread somewhat to Lincoln... they must like their baseball.
  5. I do not think Drew Butera exists. I think this is some kind of classified government experiment to test the extremes of a baseball enthusiast's loyalty to their team. I feel assured we have been slipped some kind of drug that has long term lasting mental effects or have been implanted with a mind altering micro-chip. We as a whole need to rise above and fight our oppressors and regain 100% control of our mental functions. If we can achieve this victory, I believe we can all go back to living an enjoyable life that is free of the Fictional Drew Butera.
  6. Nostalgia can often hinder one's vision. I think it would be a mistake. Let's move forward with the pieces we have or will have and leave that past glory where it remains now. If you think about it, it wasn't all that glorious to begin with.
  7. Not too sure about this. I think it is less than 60 miles from Omaha to Lincoln. That seems pretty close, especially for the mid-west market. Not to say it couldn't support it (I have never been there). Seems pretty tight in proximity though.
  8. Hendricks, Parmelee, Benson and Slama (If he is healthy, which probably will not be the case). Other than that who cares. Gibson should be left alone and used in the minors to build him up for a debut or role next season in the bigs. Hicks should go to the AFL again as well as Arcia and should be kept away from MLB competition until next season.
  9. Your line of thinking is correct, but I am not too sure there is a venue very close to us that could house a AAA baseball affiliate. Sioux Falls and Fargo probably would not work. Although Madison, WI is Brewer's territory it probably would not work anyways - if it could why don't the Brew Crew have their AAA affiliate there? Winnipeg - Minor league baseball has been stripped from Canada, I cannot see a fit there. Omaha and Des Moines are taken with no chance of a change. Although I can see the Twins jettisoned from Rochester, NY - I do not see a AAA venue that can be close to home... it sucks, what do you do?
  10. Liriano is tricky business. As Twins followers, I am sure that most of us feel like he will be no more consistent than he has shown us the last 4 years, but when he is going good he is definitely a super asset. If you can get 2 high end low level minor leaguers mixed in with some other stomachable pebbles of poop - you probably have to pull the trigger. The Twins will not take the risk in paying him 12+ M next year. Let's just hope they can keep the teeder-taughter of leverage leaning to their side. If there is no team that wants to meet our demands, you stop negotiating, keep Liriano, and take the loss after the season. Never build a legacy of being a chump trader... never!
  11. I get the whole screwing with Denard's mental state angle of this and I hope he can be professional about it. The Twins should be asking for quite a bit and if there is no trade to be had - so be it. I definitely will not have a smile on my face if he is traded... no matter the return.
  12. I'd like to throw a shout out to the victims and families of the Aurora, Colorado shooting massacre. My heart goes out to all of them.
  13. I am tired of the arguments, Nobody really needs them. Maybe I will explode....
  14. Langston Hughes.
  15. Man is born free, but everywhere he is in chains.
  16. Hey Ultima Ratio (for once I got your name right). I was not talking about "Cult of Personality Dictators". I am sure there are some who could fall in line with being non-religious, of this I do not know the stats. Being an individual who grew up in the ****ty parts of town and living hand to mouth as a child might have something to do my understanding of our society. Poor people usually adhere themselves to religion, because they are bankrupt of hope, finances, knowledge, and vision. I am somewhat offended that the words I have used in this thread have been used against me, and taken out context. Ignorance holds the hand of the downtroddened. Ultima Ratio - you are a professor or teacher.. right? I will not say "you should know better", but I expect a lot more from you as an educated man. I will leave you with this: What happens to a dream deferred? Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun? Or fester like a sore-- And then run? Does it stink like rotten meat? Or crust and sugar over-- like a syrupy sweet? Maybe it just sags like a heavy load. Or does it explode?
  17. Stalin falls under the Cult of Personality clause, I could not tell you what he believed in. He was an atrocious human being (murdering 10's of Millions). I expected a reply using him or Hitler as an example. Is he an Atheist - I don't know. Am I an Atheist - No. I don't assume anything. I guess I am an agnostic. Stalin and Hitler are an easy way to force feed me Christian Righteousness. I'm not a buyer.
  18. Plouffe should remain at 3B. We all know he will make an E once in a while, but he has been for the most part good with his throws, has shown some decent range. His value is at 3B. He is Valencia's superior. He will get better and I predict he will be very good as a third baseman. Is there a need to keep dissecting this guy? Everyone should be happy with his performance. To me it appears that everyone acts like a selfish brat when they cannot have a perfect scenario or patience with a player developing. I am plain old fashioned tired of it and if someone throws me a metric stat to try to dissuade me I will simply take a piss on it.
  19. On another note - I want to have an affair with the Sea Hag.
  20. Gee Whiz. You guys make it sound like it was a Theodore Roosevelt speech from 1907. I am 37 years old and I am sure that there are people within 5 years below that who know who Wimpy and Popeye are. If our job is as historians/custodians of golden age cartoons/comics so be it, but I wouldn't consider it ancient history. (Food, Food, Food - Everything is Food).
  21. Although the offense has struggled somewhat and it seems like it is feast or famine with our hitting - the talent and ability is there. Who knows why it has not gelled into a cohesive unit as of yet. It is disappointing none the less. As for the starting pitching - very little talent, junk yard dogs rounded up to give a desperate, failing effort. The bullpen is okay, but it is not awesome as some seem to think. This season has sucked to a high extent, but I must admit it has been better this year than last. There are some position players having good years - of which is a reason to keep watching. Last year - not so much of that.
  22. Those damn Atheists will be the death of us. Their beliefs have never started wars, they never go door to door trying to force their idealism on other citizens, they believe in science to a fault (yuck), they have never conquered foreign land in the name of their beliefs - killing the men of these conquered lands and raping their women and burning their civilizations to the ground. Those damn Atheist... we need to round them up and rid ourselves of these poisonous parasites for good! Amen.
