  1. Hello Mr. Glunn. I don't want to see either of these two traded. Morneau is starting to find a bit of the player he once was, and I expect that he will keep picking up the pieces of the past and Rejuvenate his career. Parmelee needs a chance and he will need to play OF for a period of time. A lot of people do not think Parm can cut it as an outfielder, give him some time. In the history of this game, there has been quite a few players who played out of position for the better of the team/franchise. These scenarios do not doom franchises and probably more than often have a positive impact.
  2. Once upon a time the Twins traded a Defending Cy Young Award Winner, Kept their fans, and won a World Series Championship 2 years later.
  3. More with the theme of a "different kind of crying altogether" alert for tonight's game on the Twins website: Span and Revere are "Day to Day" once again, only shockingly enough, not today. Carroll leading off, Mastro second, Carson and Pokemon at the bottom of the order. Bench PH "strength" again ably supplied by Butera and Casilla. JDFGUASDFGASDU'OFHYIOA'SDHF!!!! That was the sound made from the section of my brain that handled disappointment collapsing on itself.
  4. At least we all have each other to lean on through the tough times... right?
  5. If I know the Twins Organization correctly... If the 2B conversion is to happen, it would probably mean Revere being sent down to AA next year to learn the position and spending most of 2014 in AAA perfecting 2B. It is probably a pipe dream. I can see FDG's proposition more realistically working out. Neither of which I see as feasible outcomes. In a perfect world it would be nice though.
  6. If the Padres organization owns their stadium and the land it rests upon, that has to be a significant factor in the price. Urban California v. Urban Minnesota property value is no contest. I figure the Twins price value is a little less.
  7. 9 more (40) vs. 4 more (20) vs. 2 more (10). Who has the better shot at his own personal 2012 "milestone"? Willingham/Morneau/Mauer. The way Morny is swinging the bat since July 1' date=' I vote Justin most likely, the Hammer 2nd most, Mauer least likely.[/quote'] Agreed. I do think all 3 will accomplish those milestones. Those 3 deeds done, and a batting title (either Mauer or Revere, take your pick) would be some solace, merciful diversion and reasons for continuing interest through to October 3. Those, and about a half dozen of the prospects making a major-league level showing in the September call-up could offer some glimmers of hope and positivity heading into 2013. If Mauer or Revere can pull off a batting title, that would be beyond cool. I have been waiting for Trout to hit a rookie rut. Although he has struggled somewhat in the last few weeks, he is hanging on... wish we had him. I am not holding breath for a Arcia and Hicks call-up in September, but who knows? I guess we will find out.
  8. October 2013. I cried a little bit. Touching' date=' your [u']realism[/u]. :):):) Just to be clear, I took October 2013 as if he's pitching in the playoffs -- optimism. Hopefully it was clear that I meant he would finish next season as a member of our rotation, but I wasn't clear, sort of similar to how I had your TD name wrong for a awhile and I screwed the pooch on both of those issues. If Blackburn is a member of our rotation next year, I fear that everyone's optimism will be met with great disappointment. I hope I never have to hear the words "Nick Blackburn" after this season. He was given a more than reasonable opportunity (understatement).
  9. 9 more (40) vs. 4 more (20) vs. 2 more (10). Who has the better shot at his own personal 2012 "milestone"? Willingham/Morneau/Mauer. 10. Welcome to the buffet! Pick your spot at the trough.
  11. October 2013. I cried a little bit. Touching, your realism. :):):)
  12. I hate the concept of a jinx and I am not a superstitious fellow. I apologize if I am damning anyone and their hopes. Willingham has a legit shot at 40 HR's. 9 more buddy! Let's get on that horse and ride! There is only one 40 HR member in the history of the Twins. Killebrew awaits....
  13. It would be nice to see Parmelee get the MLB playing time he needs while Morneau is still on this ballclub. I do believe Parmelee can be a very good player but this needs to be verified for a substantial period of time. Call me loyal or a homer, but it has been a bummer seeing Morneau go through what he has gone through with his injuries and the concussion issue. In my baseball heart, I believe Morneau is still adjusting and removing the remaining rust from his game. I still believe he can be an impact player and an asset. If the Twins want both of them as full time players - it can be done. Use Mark Trumbo for the example.
  14. Man, there is a ton of ideas that could be thrown into this. For me I would like to see Parmelee up playing 6 out of 7 games per week. It can work without stealing playing time from the essential players. It would be nice to see what he can offer playing full time - we did not see that this year and I do not think a fair judgement can be made on his 2012 performance in the bigs. Throw him in the OF, let him force a decision on whether he can handle playing the OF or not. There is a lot who say he cannot by them watching him play the OF in the minors. They may be right, but let's see it in person with the Twins and throw our darts after that conclusion has been made - bad or good. Liam Hendricks has sucked in his time as a big leaguer, but has been brilliant in the minors. Hendricks doesn't have outstanding stuff (Poor Man's Scott Baker per Gleeman on PA's Show on KFAN today). He relies on his control and pitching intelligence. I am not sure if the Twins do not have him up here because they are protecting him or because they do not think he can be effective. If it is the former, that is a piss poor move. The Twins need to run this guy through the ringer and see if he can handle the pressure at this level of play. If what most are saying about Hendricks is correct, it would appear to me that the Twins need to let him pitch up here, have his failures, make his adjustments, use his greatest assets, go from there and see if he can cut it in MLB.
  15. I have a lot of things I could say, but I will choose against it and avoid offending anyone. I've been married for 5 years, together 13 years. It's all the same. If it's the real deal, it's the real deal. Congrats!!! I will leave this conversation giving the greatest lyrics ever written to a song... it just may be your wedding song... I want a pop, I want a Shasta! I want to taste pizzazz All the great taste Shasta has I want a pop, I want a Shasta
  16. Yeah' date=' I'm not sure what it does. Sending a message is dumb. The team called him up in May despite the fact that he was really struggling offensively in Rochester. They had to know that. Like I said, I am intrigued by FLorimon and want to see his defense. He has ONLY played SS this year in Rochester, so I'm curious if Dozier will maybe get some time at 2B in Rochester with Escobar at SS?[/quote'] I would figure your assumption is right, Dozier jumping between MI positions in Rochester. I do not see Florimon having a higher upside than Dozier, Maybe they have thrown in their hat on him being a SS and are looking towards next season with their sites set on him as a 2nd baseman. I have a hard time thinking this is the case though. Good Luck Florimon!
  17. Strange move. What's the point... to send a message to Dozier? Blah....
  18. I am pretty sure Parmelee is a first baseman first, outfielder second, but they have played him in the OF semi-often in the minors. Sans Mark Trumbo, but with more OF experience... sometimes you need to make some pieces fit where they normally do not. These kind of situations occasionally work out. Not every baseball player is rigidly placed into a box of cemented defensive position. With Parmelee there is a fair amount flexibility.
  19. Hmmnn... I hope our second date goes better. Maybe next time we can make out? Sometimes chemistry takes some time to click.
  20. Last season was an utter and total failure. It was very, very hard to stomach. Coming into this season, I think the majority of us thought we would have a serviceable pitching staff... not great, but good enough to play .500 ball with a healthy offense. obviously it did not turn out that way because of injuries and lack of execution, but this season has not been a wash it terms of entertainment value. Terrance made a couple nice offensive additions by adding Willingham and Doumit. Willingham has been more than any of us could have hoped for, but Doumit should be given a lot of credit also. He plays catcher and gives the Twins a chance to rest the hometown prodigy. Doumit has always been an offensive player, but has fought injuries in his time spent in the Senior Circuit. In my opinion Doumit is made for the AL and he has rewarded us fans with an outstanding season to this point. Some might lament the loss of Jason Kubel, especially because of the numbers he is putting up in AZ, but I would be surprised if Kubel would have half the HR's if he still called Target Field his home (Target Field got into his head and he needed to escape - as we all know). Three Cheers for Ryan Doumit! Good Job Twins for signing him to an extension. Doumit has actually been pretty decent behind the plate, packs some punch offensively and is an important piece to the puzzle for now. This is my "Glass Half Full" thread post of this year. Viva Ryan Doumit!
  21. You have my support in your positive prediction!
  22. Yikes!!! Sorry to draw your ire. Aoki has been okay in his small sample size. Fukudome and Iwamura were serviceable, but failures in the expected result of what they could offer and the $$$ they were paid. I included Iguchi in my positive spin, because he did have 2-3 fairly good seasons, won a World Series Championship, but fell off considerably after that. I think you are over reacting and unless you can get most Japanese position players on the cheap, you are taking far too great a risk. History has not taught me a different outcome/lesson to this date... sorry to offend you.
  23. I'm thinking 5IP and 4R's. Ugghh...
  24. I say we have Morneau pitch and Butera play pitching coach as long as we're taking the Looney Tunes approach to things. I'm game, but Target Field's name needs to be changed to Acme Field and an Anvil has to fall from the sky onto the field of play at least once or twice a game.
  25. Hopefully in the off season, the Twins swallow their pride and cut ties with Nishioka. I wouldn't say I feel bad for Nishioka because he has a made a lot of money for doing not so much, but I would imagine he is embarrassed and his pride has taken a considerable hit. He is a long ways from his homeland where he was beloved and a star type player (although his Nippon stats are not really that mind blowing). I hope that this is a wake up call for MLB teams not to take risks in the posting system with Nippon League position baseball players. Some of the pitchers from the Nippon League have worked out, but only 2-3 position players have made a somewhat impact. Ichiro, Hideki Matsui and to a smaller degree Tad Iguchi (he was okay for a couple of years). Ichiro is a freak of nature. Hideki Matsui was a 40+ HR hitter in Japan, here he was a 20ish HR Hitter. Nishioka makes Kaz Matsui look like a HOFer. Why didn't Alex Ramirez or Alex Cabrera make a return to MLB. My guess is they were smart enough to know that they would fail and make a lot more money in Japan than they could make at AAA in the States.
