  1. Even though the Twins are destroying the Sux tonight, it seems kind of empty - coming on the heels of our less than outstanding September call-ups. Which got my mind spinning on thinking about some non-Twins enjoyable baseball experiences I have had in my life. The Original R.B.I. Baseball for the Original NES!!! Damn, that game was great. The best team on that game was by far the St. Louis Cardinals. You could not retire Vince Coleman, Ozzie Smith or Willie McGee... they were faster than fast! I can't recall how many inside the park bunt HR's I pulled off with Coleman, but it takes up more than two hands in my recollection. John Tudor, was the best pitcher in that game, you had a lot of flexibility in moving his pitches around leading to a devastating curve ball of which no opponent could resist swinging at. One of my great moments playing that game was when I hit a HR using Fernando Venezuela. I have only seen 2 pitchers hit a HR on that game... can't recall the other one - a game I was watching and not playing. Does anyone else who would care to respond have some enjoyable memories of R.B.I. Baseball for the 1st NES?
  2. Much props Nick. Starting in June you started to see people giving comments on looking forward to the Twins September call-ups. This is not a slap in the face, but a nasty upper cut to the chops. (sigh)
  3. I guess the question we have to ask ourselves is this - do we still move forward with the petition? I would imagine if Ryan responded we'd get the same answers, but one never knows? I'm still game. Thoughts? If this is the end of this thread - I was impressed by the solidarity we have all shown.
  4. Absolutely no solicitors. The raft is starting to show its wear and tear - let's hope for the best!
  5. Yes, let's trust the Twins to subjectively evaluate another player based on a couple of innings of spring training instead of two years of undeniable success in AAA. After all, the virtually scouting-only approach is working out great again this year, isn't it? Hello LaBombo. Do you want to be on the petition?
  6. Very Well... no it is.
  7. 2:00pm on Wednesday is the last chance to lend your name to this petition and the petition will then be sent to Terry Ryan.
  8. Nice article TFFA. Hicks' breakout season is probably the highlight of this season for the organization from my perspective. Last winter I was really hoping that his AFL performance was going to be a sign of things to come... and it was! It would have been nice to see him get a September call-up, but I agree with your take that there would be no playing time. Parmelee needs to play everyday.
  9. Just a reminder - we have about 22 hours left. The deadline is 2:00pm Wednesday. Sign up if this is a petition that interests you!
  10. I know some have, but I am hoping to solicit a few more in TD participants in jumping in on the the "Anthony Slama Petition". We need all the help we can get. Please participate.
  11. Keep them coming everyone. This is my last thread response until tomorrow, but I hope to have my hands full taking names until the 2:00pm deadline on Wednesday!!!
  12. Your in Thrylos. I am glad to have you on board!
  13. Come on Twins Daily Members - We need your support!!!
  14. I hope you reconsider clutterheart.
  15. Done, Done and Done!
  16. Channeling Jerry Lewis again. Please lend your support - an administrator or two would be nice.
  17. I guess I will have to play the Jerry Lewis role in this. Please give your signature to this petition. We might get an answer with your cooperation.
  18. That is not totally necessary now, is it? In this kind of scenario, the truth needs to be bent a little bit. If we start quibbling over every word, we will never get this done. Some of us would like to see Ryan replaced, but in the meantime I think we can all support whatever good things he might do. Please sign me up for this petition! Good point Glunn. This will be my last response and I will sign you up!

  20. Deadline is Wednesday @ 2:00pm
  21. Respond to this -
  22. This may be a long shot and most of you might not be willing to participate, but maybe we can get an answer from Terry Ryan on the Anthony Slama situation. If all goes correctly and I receive a decent amount of signatures (TD names or real names, both work). I will send Terry Ryan an email using his email address from the MLB.com site and cut and paste everyone's name onto an email message following this statement (please critique it and respond if you have any issues with it). If he responds to my email, I will blog his response on TD. To give your signature, respond to my next thread response on this subject. Here is my opening message: Good Day Mr. Ryan. A lot of us Twins Fans are somewhat perplexed and a bit upset as to why Anthony Slama has not been given a fair chance to prove himself with the Twins at the Major League Level this season. We are the fans who pay for tickets. We are the fans who buy memorabilia. We are the fans who spend hours of our day watching a ballclub that has let us down and we will probably continue to do so. We want to know why you won’t give another opportunity to Anthony Slama, a pitcher who has done nothing but pitch dominantly at every level in the minor leagues. Yes, he was called up briefly in 2010, but that call-up did not quench the thirst of us fans. What we are requesting is an in-depth answer as to why Slama was not a September call-up. We want to know if he has a future with this club. We want to know what you like, but mostly dislike about him – because from our viewpoint, the Twins organization does not view him as a MLB pitcher. Mr. Ryan, we deserve to have these questions answered. With Regards, Your Supporters,
  23. It appears the season long Slama situation erks just about everyone on this site. I really don't know how one starts a petition or how to go about it, but it would be nice to see a petition drawn up demanding an in-depth answer from Terry Ryan on why this organization is sour on Slama and why they won't give him an extended chance to prove himself at the MLB level. Sure, Ryan would not be legally bound to give an answer, but if there were enough angry and disenfranchised fans putting their name to the said petition, maybe it would put enough pressure on Ryan to give a worthwhile response - maybe his answer would quell Twins Fans disappointment? Who Knows... just thought I'd throw it out there.
  24. That is sort of a bumber. It would have been fun to see Arcia or Hicks get the call, but I get it and it is important to play Parmelee everyday this September - I couldn't see Hicks or Arcia playing too much. Slama getting snubbed is the real tragedy of this announcement.
